Juan Gabriel 🇲🇽 loved being on stage, he was born to be on stage. You are right.
That's why, Even though his voice was worn out, he did conciertos lasting 3 or 4 or 5 hours.
I saw him at least 5 times live. He was, HE IS, fantastic. His songs were a train of emotions.
My favorite songs of Juan Gabriel 🇲🇽 are
Ya lo sé que tú te vas, Querida, Abrázame muy fuerte, De mí enamórate, Costumbres, Para que me haces llorar, Ya no vivo por vivir.....

People usually ask for "another song" when performers finish their set, and this man would perform "another song" until the crowd was satisfied... AMAZING, so much love and positive messages throughout the shows. He is one of the best to do it in the world. I don´t know of someone who interacted so much and transmit so much positivity and love, and made you feel the lyrics of the songs he wrote. He was outstanding.

You need to know about some things about this amazing person's story, like "The night when Mexico didn't sleep".
No, it's not a song title, but rather a real event that happened on late 1988.
When "Juanga" was invited as main guest on the popular late night show "Mala Noche... No!" hosted by Verónica Castro.
The show, which started at 11pm had him singing live and the phone lines were exploding with messages from the public. The transmission had to be stopped at last so that the early news program could begin... at around 6am of the following morning.
To this day, this presentation is considered legendary in the history of Mexican television.
Having an amazing talent for music both singing and composing, and having one of the most interesting careers as well as a novel-worthy life story, Alberto Aguilera (Juan Gabriel) is one if not the top Mexican performer of all time.
A biographic mini-series called "Hasta que te conocí" reveals his origins, his troubled youth and distance from his family, of how he was sent to jail for a false crime and how he became to be "El Divo de Juárez". This was released on 2016, the same year of his passing.
His public funeral was held on Palacio de Bellas Artes, the same venue were you saw him sing first. This is an honor very few have had.
I loved your reaction, hope you enjoy more if his songs in the future. ❤
    Regards from Mexico City.

He was an amazing human being inside and out. My father knew him personally because he would only go to my father to make his boots as my father was a boot maker. My father lives in El Paso, TX and a Juan Gabriel lived across the border in Juarez. My father would go to his home and hand deliver his boots.

I’m usually here for your Taylor reactions but I recently went through all your playlists and found this gem and as a child of first gen Mexican parents this made me cry I just want you to know how appreciative I am that you reacted to this! Sadly Juan Gabriel passed away years ago but he will live on for us for the rest of our lives! I love you even more 🥰 and I thank you for this! ❤

If you want to continue with Mexican music, I sincerely recommend one of the Queens of Cumbia, Selena Quintanilla. She was Mexican American but very beloved in Mexico. The Flower of the Mexican- American Border, you may say. A beauty with immense talent inside and out whose life was tragically cut short by a traitor whom she called her best friend. My favorite song of hers is "No Me Queda Más", "Cobarde", "Como Una Flor", "Amor Prohibido"; in English "I Could Fall in Love" and "Dreaming of You".
As for the rest of Latin America, may I suggest a trip to the Caribbean and Puerto Rico in particular? We're a small island bursting with talent. If you want a taste of salsa and merengue music, you won't find better than here in PR. Favorites: Ruben Blades "Pedro Navaja", "Ligia Elena" and "Decisiones"; Hector Lavoe "El Cantante", "Mi Gente" and "Aguanile"; Olga Tañon "Que Se Vaya", "Es Mentiroso", our just listen to her "Mega Mix", a compilation of her greatest hits; José Feliciano "En Mi Viejo San Juan"; El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico (legendary group here) "El Timbalero", "Azuquita Pa'l Café".
Next door in the Dominican Republic, the Kings of Bachata, you absolutely must listen to Juan Luis Guerra. The man is a poet, so pay attention to his lyrics. Favorites: "El Niagara en Bicicleta", "Burbujas de Amor", "La Bilirrubina", "Las Avispas", "La Cosquillita".
Down the way in Cuba, listen to the legend that is the incomparable Celia Cruz, she's beyond amazing. Favorites: "La Negra Tiene Tumbao", "Yo Viviré (I Will Survive)", "Quimbara" and "La Vida es un Carnaval".
    That's enough for now.

Juan Gabriel did act in a few movies when he was younger. As it is, most famous singers would make movies or tv dramas. In fact, most of Mexico’s most legendary artists were actors that sang in movies. Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete being two of the most famous. Hope you can react to them in the future 😊

My favorite is not only Juan Gabriel but also his friend Rocio Dúrcal. She has a wonderful voice and both she and Juan Gabriel made a few duets and they are gorgeous.

Juan Gabriel is our Michael Jackson. Hes a showman, performer, story teller. Hes amazing and captivates so much emotion. He might not be a worldwide name, but i think its because the language and lack of opportunity to take him farther by advertising him in media and more. We just dont got those resources.

    Lyrics translation:
    Así Fue
Forgive me, if I make you cry.
Forgive me, if I make you suffer.
But it's just that, it's not in my hands...
But it's just that, it's not in my hands...
    I have fallen in love.
    I have fallen in love.
    I fell in love.
Forgive me, if I cause you pain.
Forgive me, if I tell you, goodbye.
How am I to tell her I love you?
How am I to tell her I love you?
    Yes, she has asked me.
    I told her that I don't.
    I told her, I don't.
I am honest with her and with you.
    I want her and you've I've forgotten.
If you want, we will be friends.
I can help you forget the past.
    Don't hold on,
    Don't hold on anymore...
    To an impossibility.
    Don't do yourself...
    Nor do me more harm.
    No more.
You know well that it wasn't my fault.
You left without telling me nothing.
And even though I cried like I have never,
You weren't in love with me anymore.
Then you left. And that you would return...
    You didn't tell me.
    And without much more...
    Why? I don't know..
But it went like that. That's how it went.
I wished you the best of luck.
I promised myself to neither speak to nor see you.
And today, that you have returned, you see, there is only nothing.
I should not and just can not want you.
    I don't love you anymore.
    I have fallen in love
    To a divine being
Of a good love that taught me to forget and forgive.
I am honest with her and with you.
    I want her and you've I've forgotten.
If you want, we will be friends.
I can help you forget the past.
    Don't hold on,
    Don't hold on anymore...
    To an impossibility.
    Don't do yourself...
    Nor do me more harm.
    No more.

I did see JuanGa live many times when I was a child, not willingly, I just didn’t have the capacity to appreciate him at the time, his songs were everywhere on the TV, radio and even in the movies; every granny and mother in México loved him and his music and they new his lyrics by heart, meanwhile me and my little girlfriends just wanted to listen to Nsync, BSB and Britney Spears obviously.
It was until I became fully adult and he passed away that I saw how much of an artist he TRULY was besides all of the cloud and non-stop media exposure :(

I don’t know a lot of South American music but Mexico is in North America. I would say that my favorite one is “amor eterno” by Juan Gabriel in Bellas Artes. That one and “deja que salga la luna” by Pedro Infante is really good. Juan Gabriel shows will be always my favorites because Juan Gabriel was a showman, he could make everyone cry, laugh, dance and sing… all in the same song or in the same show. He was an incredible showman. Greetings from México. Thanks for the reaction.

Juan Gabriel is exactly how you described him. I’ve been very lucky to see him in concert front and center. He’s not only a grandiose performer but he’s composed all 1,500 songs. He was a great human being and humanitarian. He not only took care of all his family but he took care of 2 homes for the elderly and 2 orphanages. He was an amazing man. Unfortunately we lost him suddenly on August 28, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA
By the way, Mexico is part of North America. Enjoy his music because, like you said, people like him are very rare.
