I was lucky as an American that i and everyone else got to see this show. TopGear was huge in America. It was our childhood and me and my siblings loved it. 500 million viewers world wide is insane ya’ll
Wait fr??? I'm learning English to be able to understand what they said in top gear and now I'm an interpreter. Top gear literally changed my whole life
11:38 “I’ll never experience that power again” about a decade later Clarkson would go on to drive the Bugatti Chiron to hardlaunch his second wife in a different car programme
This was definitely one of my favorite episodes! The ending in particular was great. The lighting of them running down the hallway, Jeremy sipping his beer and then James nodding off... too funny!
The one thing that stuck with me since this episode is Jeremy calling the Veyron "not just the best car that's ever been made, but very possibly the best car we'll see in our lifetime". I think he's right.
Hands down one of the best Top Gear races ever, and one of the best episodes ever. SO glad this was one of the first episodes I ever saw that got me hooked.
This is one of the best episodes of Top Gear in my opinion! Now i miss the Top Gear race with the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren because that is an amazing car too!
This was my favourite of them all… I must’ve watched this particular episode over a hundred times as a kid, closing my eyes pretending I was behind the wheel of a Veyron. Well, the reality… and the closest I’ve got to owning a Veyron is a MK1 Audi TT, far from it in other words😂 I really miss Top Gear.
It's pretty amazing that while Jeremy was giving it the beans in the worlds fastest production car, the camera crew were managing to keep pace and even pull ahead in their range rovers!
For those who are unaware, it's not uncommon for ATC to grant light aircraft permission to enter otherwise congested airspace, granted you stick to a very specific route and altitude, given by ATC. I know this from flying with a CFI friend in the San Francisco area. We were able to fly up the 280 freeway into the SF Bay, and San Francisco Airport was routing aircraft around us. It was an experience.
I agree with Jeremy. It would be nice to have a Veyron like this. But it's a real shame that almost no one can afford this beast. I have the same problem with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. I had the opportunity to drive it in the center of Warsaw in the evening in 2015. The memories are still vivid. But the feeling is the same as after Veyron's victory. Sure, you can have a 1/18 or 1/43 scale model, but owning a real car is very satisfying.
What's doubly hilarious about all this is that he doesn't have a clue how DEFCON works. Defense Condition 1 is the worst it can be. He's got it ass-backwards.
It's too bad this part started after what I felt was the funniest part of the race--that being the Captain and Hamster having to fly around the Alps via Nice.
BBC must stop changing music (yes, I know there was a UK version and a non-UK (also cut), but...) and stop creating automatic chapters. What is DEFCON-4?
Clearly fixed, no one and I mean NO ONE takes a London bus from Waterloo when the tube is running until late! This is ridiculous! You simply go from Eurostar platforms to the tube station. FFS
Which big race would you like to see next?
Mercedes SLR - race to Oslo ;)
the first half of this Bugatti race. need to show the full cut.
330d 24hr race
I second rhe 330D 24 hour race.
I Had The Full Race On My Old TikTok Channel I Might Upload It Again 😈
the boys calling Richard "hamster" never gets old
I think this is possibly, *the* definitive Top Gear race. Everything about this challenge was done so well.
Such a classic race this one. Its childhood memories for me
I was thrilled by those races car vs public (other means) of transport. Then it happened. And you know which car lost it the first?
Hammond: “James has just told me that he hasn’t done the test that allows him to drive the plane at night”
Jezza: 😂😂😂
Driving planes

There was an American as well as an Australian top gear show as well, not as funny and interesting as the original trio though
Wow...This EPISODE is nearly 20 YEARS old but where have them years gone?? Damn..
I love the thumbnail picture, Richard is the best advertising for these videos

He's got a Bugatti, we've got a bus !😂😂
One of the best episodes
"It's James May and he's actually running on television!"
The one thing that stuck with me since this episode is Jeremy calling the Veyron "not just the best car that's ever been made, but very possibly the best car we'll see in our lifetime". I think he's right.
I just love how done with james Richard was
Hands down one of the best Top Gear races ever, and one of the best episodes ever. SO glad this was one of the first episodes I ever saw that got me hooked.
Thanks Jeremy,James and Richard for giving me and millions wonderful entertainment alongwith unforgetable memories. Thank you very much😢
One of my favorite episodes
the music originally used in the montage from 5:05 is Hybrid: Finished Symphony
Thank you
i've seen this so many times and it's still amazing
This is one of the best episodes of Top Gear in my opinion! Now i miss the Top Gear race with the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren because that is an amazing car too!
“He’s got a Bugatti, we’ve got a bus”
My all time favourite Top Gear race.
11:42 "the end of an era" 💔
0:14 and 5:09 Iconic moment.
20 years of Bugatti Veyron in 2025.
This was my favourite of them all… I must’ve watched this particular episode over a hundred times as a kid, closing my eyes pretending I was behind the wheel of a Veyron. This was the best show on TV. I will miss it always.
This episode will be 20 years old this December I was 15 when this was first broadcast 😢
"YOU UNBEARABLE MAN!"
I was maybe 10 years old watching these and still remember like I saw them yesterday
The greatest race Top Gear ever made.

So your not entirely familiar...
I know what all the major knobs and things do
Oh im sure you do James, im sure you do 🤣
Hammond: *PLANE OF DEATH*
God this show was so good. I really miss it.

Speed limits exist.

Hello from overseas!
11:44 James being old man back in 2005.
I agree with Jeremy. It would be nice to have a Veyron like this. But it's a real shame that almost no one can afford this beast.

James May running on television!
Don't want to make anyone feel old, but the Veyron is 20 years old this year.
In a congestion zone in a veyron after 6pm, nice
Buffeting
I’ve discovered that Jeremy usually wins
The fastest car vs the slowest man. This was over before it began 😂
0:49 those are Numitron tubes! thanks, Technology Connections
This is the show that made me love cars in my childhood.
While everyone was busy watching cartoons, I spent most of my time watching Clarkson.
Superwipe for the edited livestream
Hamster and slow is crazy
What's doubly hilarious about all this is that he doesn't have a clue how DEFCON works. Defense Condition 1 is the worst it can be. He's got it ass-backwards.
yeah, it only works the way Jeremy said if he means putting the spoiler down so he can go faster is less threatening to him
@@ZoeMalDoran In other words, it doesn't work that way lol
It seems to be a broad misconception though. And yet there doesn't seem to be any definitive answer as to how so many of us have it backwards.
@@MFKR696 very true - and I clearly credited Clarkson with too much sense
@ Just a wee bit lol
Watching this help me when I had chicken pox
Hope the next episode with the buggati veyron super sport top speed test with James may
Aston Martin db9 vs bullet train to París france
It's too bad this part started after what I felt was the funniest part of the race--that being the Captain and Hamster having to fly around the Alps via Nice.
8:23 Whats that music called? If anybody knows, please leave a comment 👍🏻
"No Escape" by Andy Hopkins.
Tyler Hoovie would like this episode.
Yessss
Is S3E6 down to fix the audio mixing?
The DEFCON scale counts down, not up.
why start from after James & Richard having to go south to avoid the Alps?
Boarder
Washing machine 😅
BBC must stop changing music (yes, I know there was a UK version and a non-UK (also cut), but...) and stop creating automatic chapters. What is DEFCON-4?
How much did jeremy win by?
at the end why get a bus they could get a taxi and have no stops at the buss stops.
and really they never said how much the time diffenece was
Was Captain Slow actually flying the plane or was there a pilot?
Airplanes > Cars
Front plates look so wrong
Clearly fixed, no one and I mean NO ONE takes a London bus from Waterloo when the tube is running until late! This is ridiculous! You simply go from Eurostar platforms to the tube station. FFS
Early gang
rich people doing richi things jajajjajaja
first?
Congrats!
First what???
@@farzoqbukhari6904Don't encourage him..
I still remember the excitement of hearing the W16 for the first time in this episode. Brilliant. 🦾🗿
Might be the Mandela Effect or whatever but I swear I've seen an alternate take of Hammond saying "You unbearable man" and not May.
