As usual, lyrics can be interpreted in many ways - but it is generally about xenophoby and people saying "go away, it's my land, you don't belong here". The idea came from incident on American beach, when band members were chilling out and local surfers wanted them to leave, because "it's my wave and my beach"
Truly, Mann gegen Mann is so underrated. Love the Live in Paris version even more than the original video. Paul and Richard's background vocals blow you away and when it all comes together it's a beautifully aggressive wall of sound
from time to time I throw in 2 more hidden gems from their catalog. Both title have a really good custom video... - Dalai Lama - Spring Greetings from Germany
Hey! Just a reminder that you've already done some of the more obscure Rammstein songs, but some absolute classics and must see performances you still didn't! Rammlied from Madison Square Garden, Mein Teil from Hurricane Festival and Wollt Ihr Das Bett in Flamme nSehen from Paris are the 3 that bother me most :P.
Hi, first i love you both very much ! And i like your reactions to Rammstein cause they are my fav band of all times, i'm a fan since the 90's ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This has to be my favorite video, the contrast between the happy, Beach boys thing and the end goth R+ beach party is so brilliant. They never fail to make us laugh, cry and feel things we maybe shouldn't feel haha.
Here's a little experiment you can understand that song a bit better: Grab a sheet of paper and a pencil. And then follow the song text. "I'm going with myself from east to south" => Draw a Line from left to right, keep that pencil down on the paper and then right away draw another line of the same length from east to south (straight down) | "I'm going with myself from south to west" => Put the pencil back to where the first line started. Draw a line right to the south (down) and then to the west (left) | "I'm going with myself from west to north" => Back to the start of the very first line. Draw straight to the west (left) and the same length to to the north (up) | (You might notice where this is heading to.) Draw "I'm going with myself from north to east" by yourself. | "I'm going with myself from east to west" => Draw another bold line right from the east to the west. | "I'm going alone from land to land." => Draw a circle all around that.
Look at the German flag at 07:28 Black, red, gold are the colors, symbolized the blackness of servitude, from which the golden light of freedom was to be achieved through bloody red battles. But not here, its turned around, with intension ;). From the golden light to the blackness of servitude.
Love your reaction guys! Epic music once again! Epic guitar! The story behind the video is Till ran into some wanker surfers in California a few years ago who objected to him and his mates speaking in German. Basically said you're not welcome here. So Till wrote this to give the middle finger to those wankers. How can you not love this band?!
Rammstein has already become an incredible "institution" in the German-language music genre. Maybe you'll also listen to another excellent German group: NULL POSITIV and their songs: "Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer" an "Independenz". You will not be disappointed !
Mein land c’est une critique vis à vis du règlement de Dublin sur l’immigration ^^ Proposition : wiener blut (wacken open air 2013) or puppe ( version studio)
It is interesting that this song was released way before the immigrant movement from Syria to Europe, especially Germany because the lyrics just fit perfectly.
There were lots of immigrant movement from Turkey, Greece, Balkan Countries even from Italy in 60s. They had needed Gasterbeiter. So the immigrant movement from Syria to Europe is not the only movement that Rammstein has faced.
@@aerentas You are correct about the "Gastarbeiter" movement. However, all band members grew up in the former GDR (East Germany). The immigrant movement during the 1960s only affected West Germany. A lot of immigrants from Syria were not really welcomed by most people in Europe, even in Germany. And that is why the line "Hier ist nichts mehr frei" (there is no space for you here) has a very powerful meaning. Also moving "from east to south, from south to west" and so on, quite accurately depicts the difficulties a lot of immigrants face when trying to move to Europe.
The original concept came from when they were overseas - I can’t remember where. Olli likes to surf and was on a beach catching waves and some locals were harassing him because it was ‘their’ beach. EDIT-as stated below it was Till, not Olli.
By the great director Jonas Åkerlund. In 2009, Åkerlund also shot the video for the group Rammstein's song Pussy with lots of quick cuts and digital effects so it looks like the musicians are having real sex. The video was censored, the uncensored video is only available on erotic sites and various video portals on the Internet. Altogether, Åkerlund shot four videos for the Berlin band: In addition to Pussy, it was Mann gegen Mann in 2007, Ich tu dir weh in 2009 and Mein Land in 2011. In March 2017, Åkerlund released the concert film Rammstein: Paris together with the musicians. This film, whose raw material was made at two concerts and a dress rehearsal by the band in March 2012 in what was then the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, is also characterized by fast, hard cuts and bizarre effects. I so enjoy your reactions and thank you for reacting to this one. I've asked it !!! I see you haven't reacted yet to lots of their live songs. Here's a few Rammlied Mein teil Wollt ihr das bett in flammen sehen Ramm4 Pussy (don't worry it's amazing) Rammstein These are a few of the most amazing lives !!!

Also do Fruhling In Paris, a very underrated song, and different to a lot of their stuff. This live version (in Paris!) is excellent. ua-cam.com/video/JhFti7ftot0/v-deo.html
This song has definitively dark lyrics. The negative vibes regarding to strangers first increase very slightly, then right before the "Hasselhoff" scene, it becomes more and more aggressive. "This is my land, my wave, my beach ... here is no space/place left (for you) ..." In the night scene it culminates in a "piss off" kind of message. The whole song reflects and exposes xenophobic tendencies in parts of our society. Parts of the phrases in the lyrics are taken from common xenophobic argumentations. Maybe the daylight scenes should show how those people see themselves and the night scene shows (them) how they really look like. It is a bit like the song Amerika (but harsher). First: Oh yes, that's me. Then: Oh no, is that really me? (Or: Is that really what people think of me?)
This is one of not so many Rammstein songs that I really don't like, but the video is kinda fun. You might check "Making of" for it. All their "Making of" videos are great. 😉
This is a song about xenophobia. I think this becomes very clear in the few lyrics. He travels from country to country and is not welcome anywhere. Even the video shows this in a satirical way. They are all on the beach. Refugees come by sea, have to be rescued, end up here, take away our wives and have a good time. These are the prejudices shown here. Very obvious, actually. It's one of their fun songs / not fun songs. It's satire. Serious topics presented in a funny way. Btw. You have recognized the Baywatch / David Hasselhoff allusion correctly.
The night party is much too short. There is a cover song from the group The BossHoss in English. As an official cover it was released together with the original on a single. Check it out.
Nice Reaktion as Always☺️☺️...... Pleaaaase can you both react to Rammstein "Feuer und Wasser"...there is a custommade Video with english Lyrics Here in UA-cam wich is made from educatedmarine..that would be awesome. Have a great and peacefull Christmastime🤘
I guess the video is related to the bad experience and the many bans for Rammstein during their first American tour. That must have been frustrating for Rammstein.
Not the best Rammstein song but ok "I see it like this, quite abstractly, this is a person who doesn't have a passport and he lands somewhere on earth and he tries to get in to our world and nobody lets him in. He knocks on every country and nobody says: "Come in" but everybody says: "This is my country". That's how the song is meant."
The song is a ironcial song against xenophobia. But perhaps xenophobia isn't so irrational as somones mean, when Rammstein invades the beach of a country, which could be colonized. (My interpretation)
This a very ironic song/video, dealing with the fear of people against strangers coming into their country looking for shelter. So called "Asylanten". Land here translates to country, nation or state ! The pictures in the video are the sad oppsite of the real situation in "meinem Land" (Germany). Some people won't welcome the help-seeking strangers. These people seem to be "right" (rechts) in the meaning of political direction like neo-nazis. The big german political-historical trauma plays a strong role in this song. Rammstein try to deal with this sad part of german reality in a funny way and transferred it into the happy world of the 60s. Beachparty, surfing, lovely bikini girls , shiny happy people all around. Big lie !
I think, thats the worst video of the Rammstein Videography. Not completely bad, but I personally don't like song very much an the video is not very spectacular as most of the others. OK, it seems, you also like it. But, I don't understand why you ignore my often recomended video to the song "Keine Lust", which is very spectacular with a very good song behind. You should like it very much I think.

I recommend Haifisch - it has a lot of throwbacks to other videos and is one in the ‘funny’ category. Also Rammleid!
