People make fake money, but when it becomes a news head line they don’t show people the exact steps and where to buy the supplies to do the scam, the state what to look out for because this is happening.

He has done more bad than good with creating way more scammers over bringing awareness.
dang, kinda sucks that even sleeved packs aren't safe from scanning. looks like the safest way to get untampered packs will be sealed products like ETBs.
I know this was suggested before but: if you want to test calibration all you have to do is keep packaging intact, then build your own booster by putting certain cards in and back in the packaging and then testing. This way you know exactly what’s in there already and simulate the new package environment 🤔
As a new TCG seller, information like this is good to know. I have a bunch of 151 packs that I had thought about breaking bundles and selling the packs loose, but after seeing this, I can see how people would be wary about buying any loose packs. I'm glad I kept them sealed in the bundles for now.
This wire scanner was discussed 3 years ago as well, it's great to keep this knowledge circulating. I think before people freak out though, they should be aware that for years now this has been on UA-cam, available to see.
Have you tried setting the sensitivity to scan scarlet and violet area packs? My thought would be to scan from the back where the holo's are closest to the wrapper. Also, with sword and shield, have you tried setting the sensitivity to scan the bottom half of the pack? If you wave the whole thing you'll pick up the reverse and the hollo (only the top half of the card). If you scan the bottom only it should ping only when you have a full hollo (trainer gallery, rainbow, SIR, etc).
I would imagine you could just get more granular with the sensitivity right? The full arts would presumably have more metal than the ones with regular holos? Or you could measure where the art box typically falls in the pack and see if theres a higher quantity (aka easier ping) in that part of where you scan, compared to another pack where it will have a ping that requires more cos the metal is more drawn out across the entire card (aka, a full art)?
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on sleeved packs. What I want to know is if there's any way to use it on SV packs and/or if it is an effective tool on something like Build&Battle boxes and blisters (particularly the single pack blisters where the holo promo is directly in front of the pack).

That means it probley works through blister packaging as well. Only sword and shield items that are safe are boosterboxes, etbs, build and battles, boister bundles, and 3 pack hangers. Everything else is scanable. 4 pack tcg lightnings from walgreens may be safe as well. Everything else is not safe and i would not purchase anything. No more blisters or 3 packs, sleeved packs, nothing. Theres no reason people couldnt take this into walmart and put it on mute and scan them all in store either. Espically if they work there
Keep going man, as a new collector we have experienced some crazy things in the hobby so far and I think these topics are needed so that pack weight is fair for everyone. That, product availiability, and limiting the orders of scalpers.
just my opinion, but it looks like this method will work on ANY product where you can scan a single pack without anything in front of it (ie. promo card). So that would be checklanes blisters, triple blisters, sleeved packs and maybe even bundled products. Any product where the boosters are basically stacked together like in a booster bundle, ETB or booster box it would not work since you can't separate the packs without opening the product. The key thing to remember is this scanner detects metal so plastic, cardboard etc gets ignored.
I like sleeved boosters for the art. I buy them and hang them in my house from the clip strips grocery stores have them on. They look amazing. Good to know they stand a chance for long term sealed.
Thx for posting this. Question, I noticed you’re only scanning the top half of the pack to get your pings. What if you did a second scan of only the hit packs towards the bottom to see if it could ping as well which may suggest a full art/alt art instead of just a regular holo (which most don’t really see as a true hit)?
I think I heard that holos actually have holo over the entire card, but the holo pattern is covered. Which would explain why they seem to ping just as much as cards that have holo over the entire card

I feel your frustration. Ive seen periods of little interest and periods of hype, but lately the mania and hype is out of control and making it hard to be a regular collector
Scalpers aren’t just in Pokemon, everyone knows buying loose packs is even more of a gamble then buying them inside of a product, and you can’t buy product before everyone else. You get pinged when they actually become available to the general public faster than you just going on a website and refreshing all day. All this is standard practice everywhere else not just Pokemon.
I would imagine to help yourself hit full arts, just test towards the bottom of the packs where the text box would usually be. All this does is make me so sketched about buying any products from the sets that can be scanned 😢. That being said, I can't wait to get kicked out of my local gamestop 😂.

sleeved packs will still have value as a sealed collectible. It does suck that people that want to open SWSH are susceptible to pos scammers, and we know there's plenty of them. I have a ton of sleeved packs to sell down the road, and a mix of sealed ETBs/booster boxes. I'm glad SV doesn't have this issue. I would definitely recommend buying from sellers with 100% positive feedback as it's pretty much their word you have to go by.

Sleeved do make a difference when there's actual V's and up. You just had no hits. What you should do is take a hollow, v, v max, & alt art card, and scan each one, adjusting the sensitivity as needed. Once you meet an accurate detect rate with actual hits, start scanning everything. You were just randomly scanning a few sleeved with no hits, then determining you can't scan them. I'll do a more elaborate test once my scanner comes in.
PokeJ did one over three years ago and P4C did one over six months ago. There are some others, you just have to search the right words and sometimes use search engines outside of UA-cam. I imagine the search algorithms are more attuned ever since the CT scanning.
There are posts from 2020 I’ve seen on Reddit talking about this for Pokemon and I’ve seen a guy talking about doing this with sports cards in the early 90’s This guy has just brought this to the mainstream, I’m glad he has - helps expose bullshit

If you sell the packs and advertise as arts sets (4 packs art set) but also let it be known that they’re dud packs that would be a very ethical way of selling them. and I think a lot of the community would love you for that.
it should be as simple as no one is selling scanned packs or the seller discloses that they literally trashed the scanned duds and are only selling packs with hits.
Now they're going to line the packs with something to make them impossible to scan.. but a booster pack is gonna cost $75/ea. Good job, all you greedy, wanna get rich quick and easy types. 😂
I dont have to worry about the metal scans. I get all my pokemon from a truested UA-camr pokemaven because I like him as a person and finding japenses Pokemon in Georgia USA will be hard. Or buy Pokemon from a thrift store you buy pokemon for MSRP or higher I buy it for Penny's on the dollar.

This only works on old sets. Now that everyone knows just don’t buy loose packs it’s really that simple.

sealed sleeved booster cases are safe too. just don't buy individual sleeved.

People have been able to weigh vintage packs for decades and the vintage pack market is doing just fine.
etbs or booster boxes are the way then i guess or pokemon put holo code cards in every pack

They updated the packs in SV so that this no longer works. And SV packs are the cheapest out there
