Sword and Shield packs have non holo rares, so those are the duds. Any pack with a holo or better and a reverse will beep. Packs with just Reverse don't. Scarlet and Violet always have 3 metallic cards, so this won't work as easily
@BrianSnavely-s6e thank you. Sorry for the dumb question again but I'm kinda new. You said reverse holos don't beep? Why is that? I thought reverse holos are metal?

@@SlushyCheesethe guy just started scanning a bunch of packs and adjusted the sensor till they beeped less. You could also do what another poster suggested was make dummy packs with cards you already have that have 1 Reverse and others with reverses and holos/better
Thanks for this my guy. We've already been able to weigh these - the heaviest packs in SWSH are often the double banger packs with the trainer gallery hits. Having two solids methods should have everyone paying BOTTOM DOLLAR on loose packs the same way you'd assume any vintage pack is weighed and non holo.
this is advantageous to store owners or chronically online sellers, but for average collectors this doesnt really hold much value. If you are re-selling boosters online for cheap, this means you basically pay 1/3rd the cost you normally would for your hits you take away. so if booster boxes have 1-3 SIR cards, you pay about $80 for every three SIR. If a set has about 35 SIR and you keep at this until you pull 35 SIR's, you pay like 1500 for 35 SIR's, of which are random. If you go online right now and fill up a cart with crown zeniths gallarian gallery with one copy of each card, you might pay about 1500 total, but that was a peak set, normal sets you could do the same for like 400-600 and you guarantee every card including the best ones. Collectors should always just buy singles cards is what im suggesting.
I think you are right in that someone else has definitely figured this out. Probably has been going on for years. Awesome video glad this information is out there. It will help a lot of people to not get scammed off loose packs from SWSH era for sure!!!

This is why no one really buys loose packs anymore. Those that do, haven't learned their lesson yet. If you open all these products and scan for the 'hits', even the hits are mostly bulk, you just got super lucky pulling the #1 chase. If you didn't pull Tina, opening all that product was still a complete money tank and reselling the dud packs makes you ( not saying you did ) an asshole. Which your just going to have to live with. I don't think this changes anything really....It is good information so I appreciate you sharing.
This explains why Scarlet and violet have multiple reverse holos in the pack. Because even packs with a dud in the final spot would ping due to the extra reverse that's inside.
This is great to know. Myself personally, I would want to do this for my swsh packs but I just wouldn't know what to do with the other non-hit booster packs. I couldn't bring myself to selling these, unless listing them advertised as weighed or metal detection usage was performed on these booster packs. I just couldn't bring myself to selling them shady like.
You could be honest and list them for $1 each, explaining they are 100% not hits, and market them towards a niche croud of people that want to grade lose packs, or have a fun time opening packs to fill an LGSs kids bulk box, or get common/uncommon cards for master set.
Wow this is huge information. I wonder if you need to adjust for sleeved boosters? Edit: does this also work on S&V era sets? Edit 2: nvm saw the end of the vid
I hope this helps people be more knowledgeable and learn that there are some scummy people out here that do this for their stores online or in person. Thank you for making this and I hope this goes nuclear for people to be informed
Thankfully with 2 reverse holos, this likely won’t work on most SV era sets, except for maybe 151 god packs, there would just be so much foil that you could calibrate it to require more metal.
This is why I never purchase loose packs. I went to a local card shop and when I asked about their loose SwSh packs being resealed or tested they were disgusted by my question. I bought all 8 of their Fusion Strike packs…all were non-hits 😅 Maybe bad luck but that’s quite a few packs.
Jizzez i did not know about this even after 4 + years in the hobby. I live in Sweden & we don't have a lot of physical stores selling Pokémon TCG. Many of us buy the packs & boxes online & you must be carful & buy from sellers you 100% trust.. But this makes me trust no one.. 🙄 Maybee better to buy sealed products. My question, is it safe to buy SWSH collection boxes that have visible packs? Is it possible to scan through the plastic of the boxes?
This method would definitely be the best used on a set without a trainer gallery cards since those are also where the money is too. So anything before brilliant stars would be the best.
Yeah we cooked lol saw this 4 days ago.. bought it to test with my packs and can confirm this is around 97-100% accurate... So the only safe way to buy SWSH is to buy boxed and sealed products, like: Tins, Boxes where its near impossible to scan each pack, and ofcourse products such as sealed booster boxes etc etc 😅😅😅

This is why i avoid loose packs, i've seen scumbag sells on shows that does $3-5 loose booster packs and there were thousands of them, evolving skies included, people were in a frenzy trying to buy up all of those. im almost certain that many lgs/stores scans/weigh loose packs, once in a while they would throw in a holo pack or heavy to fool buyers. Breakers also probably do this, they make the excuse of not opening boxes on camera to "save" time, but nah its to scan and weigh the packs.
I’m not saying it’s related, but in the U.K. our recent packs from tin sets definitely seem better hit rates vs. Loose packs. Although it could just be a bad deal with loose pack pickups. I have a cable detector in the garage, so will have to test it with some packs. Great tip.

Millions and millions of packs are sold that have never seen a live stream or been recorded. I've got dozens of lgs's around me that sell loose packs in little racks. Hell most streamers do that too. Quite rarely do they open booster boxes on screen.
This is a huge problem man. It's honestly waaayyyyy bigger than that CTscan fiasco that made a big fuss over but ain't nobody able to buy a CTscan that costs 100s of thousands. ....
But basically anyone can afford $15-20 for this scanner.
This story is insane....a complete game changer
You should of recalibrated the duds to see if there was some you missed. Maybe open a sample size of the duds to prove your point as well. Otherwise interesting video.

Thanks for the sub!
@maxwellwhite need more video like this with other sets please.
Can this work through packaging such as 3 pack blisters or something like that?
feedback: you shouldve opened like a handful of the non ping packs just to see that stats for those packs as well. For better statistics of course
Why? He could sell those packs to you instead eheheheh
Insane video, hope this blows up
You should of opened all the duds too to prove your theory
Thank you for this video. As someone new to Pokémom Card Collecting, this is going to help me make better and more informed desicions on what sets to buy from. I see a lot of people are urging you to take this video down. I don't think you should. Again, thank you.
This is about to revolutionize my buying.
Single packs going to plummet in price and booster boxes are going to rocket
Doesn’t work on the newer sets. lol
@@Chris-vz2kvsame with sleeved
I think you should have opened the packs that didn't ping to show that they actually are duds.
My other concern is the lack of trainer gallery cards, the only one I saw was in a double hit pack, which makes it seem like the trainer gallery cards aren't picked up by the metal detector
Trainer Gallery cards won't get picked up because there's no foil in them. So they'll automatically show up as a "dud" pack
All these scammers disliked this. Go get a real job. This is gold, thank you.
Jokes on them. Dislikes still help this video because the algorithm works that way.
I get the feeling this video will just introduce more scammers.
But isn’t this only “gold” to someone looking to scam? Stop ratting on yourself…🤣
New scammers incoming thanks to this video
@@InTheZone85 yep for sure. which reminds me. got to add something to my amazon cart
Wonder if you can calibrate it to a higher degree to only read vmax or full art, ect. Also wonder if this can be dont to sleeved packs, if so we are going to have some serious problems at walmarts and grocery stores.
Idk what your thinking of doing with the dud packs, but it would be cool to test a few of the to 100% verify the test. Fun video though!😊
I'd say, in the name of good faith and transparency, he should open all those on camera as well.
1. It shows that "look, i'm not using this knowlege for personal gain, i will not be scam reselling them singles".
And 2. It'll verify that yes, every pack that went in the dud pile, was a dud.
The reach and views on the video will more than enough make up for the cost of opening these cases
He's clearly going to sell themon ebay... duhh
He doesn't need to open them to prove the point. Any random pile of packs should only have hits in 1/3 of the packs. Here it's every pack. Therefore the other packs don't have hits. Since the ratio is proven.
@@iancoen1792 the point has been proven. the opening should be to show that "hey, i'm opening them and won't just sell those singles", in the name of transparency and decency towards the community
Thank you for giving this info! This is eye opening. I’ll be more cautious when buying cards. And I’ll never buy single lol. Does this work on blisters?
I'm gonna say it's because the regular holos are flatter and refract the signal from your scanner better. Which is why the Giratina came back less sensitive
What about sleeved ones?
Thanks for sharing this one simple trick.
Can you try this at SV era
So now the question is can you scan them with the cardboard sleeves on them because I have gotten so many twilight masquerades from game stop and gotten maybe 1 hit out of 40 packs?
Ill do this next (soon). However i do not believe this works for the current era of scarlet & violet.
@@maxwellwhite every pack in SV has at least one holo and 2 reverse holos, it's obvious all will beep
I dont get it? Most modern packs have a holo or reverse holo so all the packs should beep? So why are some packs dont beep? Most packs will have a non holo and that should beep. Am i missing something here? Can someone help me? Appreciate if you could reply back :(
Sword and Shield packs have non holo rares, so those are the duds.
@@SlushyCheesethey don't beep because the sensitivity of the device is lowered, so packs with 2 Foil cards beep and ones with one Foil card don't
@@BrianSnavely-s6e thank you. How do you find out which packs have the reverse holo and then set the sensitivity to low? The video doesn't show that does it?
@@SlushyCheesethe guy just started scanning a bunch of packs and adjusted the sensor till they beeped less. You could also do what another poster suggested was make dummy packs with cards you already have that have 1 Reverse and others with reverses and holos/better
Thanks for this my guy. We've already been able to weigh these - the heaviest packs in SWSH are often the double banger packs with the trainer gallery hits. Having two solids methods should have everyone paying BOTTOM DOLLAR on loose packs the same way you'd assume any vintage pack is weighed and non holo.
Will it work on a carded pack?
@@gregyourspinedoctor testing this in a video very soon, make sure youre subscribed :)
this is advantageous to store owners or chronically online sellers, but for average collectors this doesnt really hold much value.
Plot twist this guy just owns the company that sell those detectors and now bro is up
I think you are right in that someone else has definitely figured this out. Probably has been going on for years. Awesome video glad this information is out there. It will help a lot of people to not get scammed off loose packs from SWSH era for sure!!!
Why cant you do this on scarlet and violet set? Can you explain?
Scarlet and violet sets have guaranteed holofoils in them to prevent this
So id imagine the solution to this is to add metal to the wrapper of the packs or the code cards to throw everyone off
Or do what they did in Scarlet/Violet and put holos on every pack.
@@faaiqster i think this is a great idea. Code cards should have a wide variety of foil on them to completely throw off scanners.
@@maxwellwhite you mention crown zenith at the start of the video, but don't expand on that later. Does CZ have some built in anti-scan protection of sorts? Lots of CZ singles around now after the latest reprint, and we wanna be safe buying. Cheers

At least I now have some closure. I bought 110 fusion strike loose packs and not 1 hit. I knew I got scammed somehow but couldn’t prove it. I’m now wondering if I can somehow contact paypal and file a claim.

I believe so but havent tested yet. I’d like to test sun and moon soon!
@@maxwellwhite If you do, zoom the camera out and make sure the packs and cards stay in the camera's view this time.
The "dud" pack you opened had a "VSTAR" card, which has gold lettering on it, probably made out of the same holo material.
What about vintage packs?
@@coolerguy64 i want to test this on a base set booster box but i need 1k subs to monetize this. That’s my plan!
Does this work for SnV sets too?
It’s not just sword and shield it works in almost all sets ever made besides scarlet violet
Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the Giratina 🎉
Enlightening, thanks for posting this!
Do you give the non beep packs to kid's for free or something?
This explains the holo energy and pokeball reverses in prismatic evolutions. Every pack almost has lots of metal
Every pack in scarlet and violet have guaranteed holo so it wouldn't work for any of them.
I wonder if this also works on sleeved packs? if so, nothing is safe!
Awesome video 1 and 2 why doesn’t it work on crown zenith?
I don’t think CZ uses the same formula of having a non-holo rare
This explains why Scarlet and violet have multiple reverse holos in the pack. Because even packs with a dud in the final spot would ping due to the extra reverse that's inside.
I figure they’re just power creeping hits to make older sets less attractive to open
You could send them in to get graded by psa
You could be honest and list them for $1 each, explaining they are 100% not hits, and market them towards a niche croud of people that want to grade lose packs, or have a fun time opening packs to fill an LGSs kids bulk box, or get common/uncommon cards for master set.
@@alexnicolaou3579the sad reality is a scammer/flipper will just buy them and turn around selling them for $5 per pack.

@@ItsRomell there are several chances at hits in the set, between the Galarian Gallery, textured and reverse holo Energies and VSTAR cards.
Thanks for the info. Always something shaking up in Pokémon
Thankfully with 2 reverse holos, this likely won’t work on most SV era sets, except for maybe 151 god packs, there would just be so much foil that you could calibrate it to require more metal.
With each SV pack having at least 1 holo guaranteed, this method becomes null
@ that too.
They should add a security card with random weight and holo material.
Wonder if it'll work on blisters with the sleeves???
it should work, you may have to adjust the sensitivity
I wonder if it works with sleeved packs also
"Last pack magic! "😂your soo wrong for that lol
Subscribed for the booster box. Good luck!
Maybee better to buy sealed products.
My question, is it safe to buy SWSH collection boxes that have visible packs? Is it possible to scan through the plastic of the boxes?
This method would definitely be the best used on a set without a trainer gallery cards since those are also where the money is too. So anything before brilliant stars would be the best.
Greed usually trumps Passion this day and age and its sad. Thanks for the info
That’s pretty amazing and that is why I don’t buy loose packs. You got the Chase cards is 🔥
Yeah we cooked lol saw this 4 days ago.. bought it to test with my packs and can confirm this is around 97-100% accurate... So the only safe way to buy SWSH is to buy boxed and sealed products, like: Tins, Boxes where its near impossible to scan each pack, and ofcourse products such as sealed booster boxes etc etc 😅😅😅
Did you open the dud packs? Curious how many false positives considering the Giratina and Aerodactly were in the less sensitive hit packs
Congrats on the Tina!
This is insane , please do this on evolving skies packs
Very eye opening. Thank you! Very new to Pokemon and just open with my kids. But will never buy alone packs for them at any shows going forward.
This is just someone telling the secret all the scummy scammers are doing. Cut the hate and respect the knowledge. Otherwise you're the fool livin in fairytale land thinkin people are honest and truthful in this hobby. There's a fuck ton of money in something that is faked, scalped, etc etc and there's ZERO regulation. If anything this dude is a straight hero for tellin the truth none of you want to accept.
Does it work with sleeved packs???
Of course it will work with sleeved packs. Why wouldn't it?
@@SureGuyDontCare i believe it would but have not tested them
I’m not saying it’s related, but in the U.K. our recent packs from tin sets definitely seem better hit rates vs. Loose packs. Although it could just be a bad deal with loose pack pickups. I have a cable detector in the garage, so will have to test it with some packs. Great tip.
is there any way to calibrate it in a way so it only detects alt arts?
no
I don’t know exactly how sensitive this tool is, but there’s a chance if you figure out the exact sensitivity needed for a certain card (if that’s even possible), then that answer could be yes.
@@ebbamb it's not possible, due to the way this device works.. imagine something telling you if it's on or off, if something exists or not.. there's just no way to determine things in between

There is a simple solution to this and its also the problem...if we all stopped buying single packs from everyone including on marketplace then the entire market will have to make a shift and itll become mutual assured destruction but nonetheless it can be corrected...but can you simply stop buying single packs and buy straight up etb? I could, could you?
