If France went in hard they would be shocked at the diplomatic and popular backlash from across Africa. Things have changed, the new generation of African youth are much more switched on, connected and informed about global affairs through social media, and are already absolutely fed up with the French in Africa.

A couple of things are missed in this video. “Former” French colonies are forced to use currency that doesn’t benefit them, the cfa franc. It only benefits France. Once these countries no longer use this currency ( never wanted to in the first place ), the French economy will tank. This is the biggest reason for French concern, especially once more alliances are made with BRICS. It’s not about a pending war with Russia. Or loss of minerals. The French economy depends on African exploitation. If the French government goes to war in Africa, they are cementing their status as Colonizers and that they have NEVER changed.

I was saying this year ago.I contrasted what the Brits on the French have done the last hundred years, in order to downgrade their empires. The French are still trying to keep hold of the Empire, through economic covert slavery, which is just buildingg more resentment against France, Whereas the Brits pretty much decided the Empir was to expensive anyway, left so that resentment has subsided away from them over the deccades, and left the structure and organisational, legal and Economic structures and left completely, concentrating on building the Commonwealth of trade networks, which benefited both them and those former colonies - hence the richest former colonies, are all British e.g.Nigeri, South Africa, Kenya.

Almost every single Dictator in Africa the past 80 years is an asset of the CIA. Why is it whenever those said warlords do what they do, it always hurts the interests of everyone in the region *except* for America? The real take away from this is that the world has finally had enough of the petrol dollar hegemony of NATO, and well, with the Saudis growing ever closer to switching to the Yuan as time goes on because of the USD collapsing, you don't really have to be a genius to figure out the end result of all this post colonial resentment (rightful resentment by the way) is nothing but war. The West is now dealing with the prospect of dealing of the consequences of their actions of economic slavery over all their former colonies, and if they had any sense of self preservation, they'd just accept the losses humbly and move on. But knowing about Western pride, none of them will, especially France and America. They will bring the iron boots down and seal their fate, and watch as sanctions from around the world they once levied out so freely against their "inferiors" now gets thrown right back at them along with goods now being properly taxed and sold to them at genuine market prices rather than the abusive prices they extorted from their threats over the decades in countries like Niger. The West as a civilisation and people is ending. And there is nothing they can do to stop it because they brought this upon themselves.

West Africa is just a sentimental matter for French senior leadership, no-one else in France understands why we remain involved in that part of the world. These are former colonies that we surely can assist when asked but certainly not stay in for extended periods (almost 10 years now!) and even less arbitrate their domestic politics. The population doesn't want us there, we're only inciting resentment and conspiracy theories, our interests are negligible and there's practically nothing to gain from our involvement apart from endlessly prolonging that unhealthy post-colonial relationship.
We don't even have to suck it up because none of us thinks we should be there in the first place.

The French Treasury and those Franc CFA are issued to African countries. And, when France pays Africa for say, oil, it pays not in dollars but with that funny money, the Franc CFA. I understand that mich French people are either in denial or don't have a clue about what goes on in Africa but make no mistake about it. Without African resources, France is a VERY different country. Former President Chirac himself said so. And really how come the largest French company is an oil company? As a French my opinion is that we’ve been already retreating from Africa diplomatically and economically for the past 4 or 5 decades, and the area is now only a matter of interest for a few powerful companies (Total, Carrefour…) and security services (illegal immigration, Islamic terrorism). So I’d say we’re on our back heels and don’t make it a matter of pride or don’t view those countries as granted at all anymore. Our country’s action will not be based on saving face, we’ll probably do whatever the US tell us to, and there is no way we’ll further alienate African nations.
