- The French have found themselves caught between a rock and a hard place, and a coup in Niger happens to be the catalyst for this predicament. To be clear, we're only talking about Niger because of what it means for the French.

If France went in hard they would be shocked at the diplomatic and popular backlash from across Africa. Things have changed, the new generation of African youth are much more switched on, connected and informed about global affairs through social media, and are already absolutely fed up with the French in Africa.
You are absolutely correct, this people are living in the past as if they are still in control of Africa.
Rubbish. France have been going hard in Mali & Chad for over 20 years now. The only people upset about it are the islamists - Boko Haram, muslim brotherhood and various other islamic-colonising lunatics.
If the French fumble this hard, Africa are pretty much the forever ally of Russia and China. With so many eyes watching, the geopolitical bullet they can make from this gonna be destructive for the west.

A couple of things are missed in this video. “Former” French colonies are forced to use currency that doesn’t benefit them, the cfa franc. It only benefits France. Once these countries no longer use this currency ( never wanted to in the first place ), the French economy will tank. This is the biggest reason for French concern, especially once more alliances are made with BRICS. It’s not about a pending war with Russia. Or loss of minerals. The French economy depends on African exploitation. If the French government goes to war in Africa, they are cementing their status as Colonizers and that they have NEVER changed.
Exactly
Thank you.
And you should keep on mind. We Africans will sanction France and all those who will support their colonial ideologies 😊
Former French Colonies have to pay extortion money to France and give France first right of refusal to all their resources which are taken at cut rates.
So in your opinion, should they ever have gotten their independence?
What people have to realize is that the local population don't want the French there.
So why West Africans are doing in France, go back to Africa it is simple.

If France tries to intervene in Niger militarily, it will mark the end of French hegemony in the Sahel and the Francophone Africa at large. Because it would open a can of worms against France soldiers and interests as elements with nationalistic and religious inclinations would take the arms.
Basically it would be their Afghanistan.
Meanwhile France itself is being colonized by Africans thanks to these white traitor colonialists. Colonialism at its core is simply presuming to speak for OTHER peoples. And this will be the final nail in the coffin of white colonialism, when white people realize WE are being colonized and the ONLY spokesmen we need is white spokesmen in order to survive.
Yeah extremists and nationalists would all unite against the French invaders.
I was saying this year ago.I contrasted what the Brits on the French have done the last hundred years, in order to downgrade their empires. The French are still trying to keep hold of the Empire, through economic covert slavery, which is just buildingg more resentment against France, Whereas the Brits pretty much decided the Empir was to expensive anyway, left so that resentment has subsided away from them over the deccades, and left the structure and organisational, legal and Economic structures and left completely, concentrating on building the Commonwealth of trade networks, which benefited both them and those former colonies - hence the richest former colonies, are all British e.g.Nigeri, South Africa, Kenya.

Good News for France.
@@georgebootoo4026 Dirt cheap resources? Even during colonial Empires, France was losing money on Africa.
Greed. It’s about time the people of Africa take control of their country and resources. Europe, the US, etc have stolen enough while the people suffer. The African people will fight to the death and I am praying they are victorious and the people safe during this time of change and recovery.🙏🏼
Keep in mind that even in certain African countries that have gained independence, native strongmen have ruled like dictators and robbed the countries blind. It ain't just about kicking out the colonialists.
Our leaders are stupid
Almost every single Dictator in Africa the past 80 years is an asset of the CIA. Why is it whenever those said warlords do what they do, it always hurts the interests of everyone in the region *except* for America? The real take away from this is that the world has finally had enough of the petrol dollar hegemony of NATO, and well, with the Saudis growing ever closer to switching to the Yuan as time goes on because of the USD collapsing, you don't really have to be a genius to figure out the end result of all this post colonial resentment (rightful resentment by the way) is nothing but war. The West is now dealing with the prospect of dealing of the consequences of their actions of economic slavery over all their former colonies, and if they had any sense of self preservation, they'd just accept the losses humbly and move on. But knowing about Western pride, none of them will, especially France and America. They will bring the iron boots down and seal their fate, and watch as sanctions from around the world they once levied out so freely against their "inferiors" now gets thrown right back at them along with goods now being properly taxed and sold to them at genuine market prices rather than the abusive prices they extorted from their threats over the decades in countries like Niger. The West as a civilisation and people is ending. And there is nothing they can do to stop it because they brought this upon themselves.
Trading France for Russia doesn't strike me as an entirely intelligent decision though.

West Africa is just a sentimental matter for French senior leadership, no-one else in France understands why we remain involved in that part of the world. These are former colonies that we surely can assist when asked but certainly not stay in for extended periods (almost 10 years now!) and even less arbitrate their domestic politics. The population doesn't want us there, we're only inciting resentment and conspiracy theories, our interests are negligible and there's practically nothing to gain from our involvement apart from endlessly prolonging that unhealthy post-colonial relationship.

The French Treasury and those Franc CFA are issued to African countries. And, when France pays Africa for say, oil, it pays not in dollars but with that funny money, the Franc CFA. I understand that mich French people are either in denial or don't have a clue about what goes on in Africa but make no mistake about it. One of their allies is Mali. And if anyone knows their history, it produced the richest man in recorded world history to date (Mansa Musa). Or the begining of downfall of Africa
Africa needs to be able to enjoy their own resources and kick out the political/colonial influencers that they’ve had in the past. Too many coups, uprisings and wars can LITERALLY be attributed to the actions of European/Asian/American influences (ex. CIA helping coup in Liberia that the country hasn’t recovered from since, Libya, Chinese resource gouging in Africa with no input back, etc). Why not fight this communist vs capitalist war in countries that benefit from these systems instead of using poor nations as staging grounds while their homes “thrive”
Too many ? Which ones, aside from the likely one against Sankara ?
Uranium is not rare but it must be commercially viable. Meaning that the quality and quantity matter for production and profit. Furthermore, you say Niger is not economically important. It is extremely economically important in that it’s Uranium is crucial to European value chain. Cheap energy from cheap nuclear sources allows inexpensive energy production for, homes, businesses, manufacturing ect. If Europe and America lose access to African natural resources and markets then the West cannot compete economically with China other emerging countries.

You could say that Russians have opened a second front for European countries i.e, France. So now they have to make a decision whether to continue supporting Ukraine financially and in war effort or focus their attention on West Africa where their economic interests are threatened. I dont think that France will let go of West Africa without a fight but that means they will be less capable to support Ukraine at the same time.
Money fights, like they put restrictions on russian international trade and economic sanctions now it's Russia's turn to fight back by supporting african and other countries that suffer from western countries
Let's call this a double whammy
“France will not let go of W. Africa?” 😂😂. There is this attitude that you ppl have. I don’t know whether it’s just being natural born thieves/parasites or a sense of grandiose entitlement.
Let the French come and take what belongs to them in Africa. We’d love to see them fight for it. What’s left of France will go up in flames. A parasitic ppl who cannot feed themselves.
Thanks for this insight.
The Russians are chess grandmasters. Always playing the long game.
This guy is hilarious 😂😂😂
The French have been so dependent on their former colonies in terms of resources that they introduced assimilation policies on their former colonies and monetary policies that those countries use the CFA Franc but things have changed those countries no longer need french support and protection and see the french have been exploiting them

Good old days are over for france. africa is united more than ever!
There’s a notion that WW1 spelt the end of colonialism,it changed its shape,it’s essence remained keep the larger part of whatever indigenous population, educated to a point of having social projects being able to happen and keep ports and tax havens safe.
The British empire didn’t end it streamlined and it’s as disgusting now as it possibly ever was☠️

no he's wrong in analysis !!!
Thank you so very much for this. I did an online search yesterday to find out why the coup in Niger matters. I was not satisfied with the information that I found. Your analysis was exactly what I was looking for! Keep up the good work.
You need to do your own research from the Nigerien or African point of view why the next generation of Africans are tired of their resources being stolen by the West.

Glad you’re covering this. Been seeing a lot on china lately. Would love an update on China too!
China's Belt & Road project in Africa is beggaring them. Many of those nations are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and can't pay the Chinese the billions they are owed. That also means maintenance of that infrastructure will not be kept up adequately.
China is 5 lbs of BS in a 2 lb bag.
Why? Peter's just gonna tell you that China doesn't matter. Whether that's true or not.. IDK, but it should be interesting finding out.
Peter and pretty much every rational person has predicted the collapse of China for so long that they're gun shy about talking about them even as they collapse. China should've collapsed years ago but the CCP has been kicking the can down the road for almost a decade and wall street has been helping them hide the rot.
"Things still not good". There, you're covered and caught up.
You have totally dismissed the people of these countries that were very much for the coups that have rejected western interference in their countries, you people can’t see further than your own interests that usually comes at the expense of these helpless countries ruled by your puppets, the French will never gain grounds again in any of these newly liberated nations, just leave us alone and care for your own problems
Arabs enslaved many black Africans Abu Omar…stay in your own lane ! Last warning
lol most of the UN aid is from Western countries 😂.. without them yall will be doomed plus.. a lot of yall begging in Western countries to find a better life 😂
It's laughable. Some of the commentators are so deluded thinking West Africans are interested in or fear countries like France or Great Britain. In Nigeria, the most populous and largest economy in Africa, which is a neighbouring country to Niger, Britain and France have had zero influence in tge last 40 years. People in Nigeria will laugh at the thought of Britain or France having the capacity to change a Nigerian government. They are seen here as as small countries living on generational debts and past glories.

France need their nuclear resource. gold can be bought, but uranium? nah, better use violence. like the old time.
, please stay out of Africa. All human beings deserve the right to decent living and without fear. If France understands this the world will be a better place. @@LibertysetsquareJack I would say France has been colonizing Africa before 1969

The question that we ask ourselves (I’m french but with african roots) is not where we would like to go to war but if we should just be a big Switzerland (big defense capacity but no projection) and use different way to project our power and focus on our economy. Since our presence in those countries cost us a lot and we don’t see the advantages. Peter has a belief that demographics determines destiny, and Russia has some of the worst demographics of any country in the world today. Russia's repeated failures are proving his theories, overblown or overly-simplistic as his theories sometimes might seem. Of course he is excited.
How can anybody have a positive outlook towards Russia?

France is having a harder time with making its pampered people work for the government and the "greater good" of their nation. I find it fascinating that people really believe the Special Forces will always be obedient. Perhaps the world will gain more respect for these African countries in the coming years.
Good point and if France keeps this up there will be great humiliation in the outcome. It is as if people never learned to play cards (hold, fold or show your hand if it’s good)
People don't understand. Gorbachev had all sorts of security forces and a giant military at his disposal in the late 80s but it simply did not matter because the citizenry no longer had any faith in the system.

This is a very good point you make. The citizens of France are trying to have their needs met day to day in their own country. Who over there would want to risk their lives in Africa fighting against people who will definitely fight to the death to defend their homeland against continued colonization. The majority of the African population is under the age of 25 and growing in numbers each year.
As a French my opinion is that we’ve been already retreating from Africa diplomatically and economically for the past 4 or 5 decades, and the area is now only a matter of interest for a few powerful companies (Total, Carrefour…) and security services (illegal immigration, Islamic terrorism). So I’d say we’re on our back heels and don’t make it a matter of pride or don’t view those countries as granted at all anymore. Our country’s action will not be based on saving face, we’ll probably do whatever the US tell us to, and there is no way we’ll further alienate African nations. We’ll be very shy, contrary to what you just said, and probably move out of Africa faster than we already did in the recent past. We’re in no position to have beef with anyone.
Oh quit being a push over. Stand up for yourself and impress the rest of us. We've all been waiting for your big moment.
You’re not alone. The British, Belgian, Portuguese, German influence in Africa has all gone too. In time, so will Chinese and Russian influence when Africans realize their new friends aren’t friends at all.
@@obrietsThere are nationalists in Africa, I believe they know the reality of geopolitics that there are no friends in international relations. Don't underestimate them.
