My impression of Lin changed dramatically when I read Leave Society. If you’ve dismissed him, go try that one before you write him off entirely!
"Tao Lin simply does not know how old he is already and how young he is still going to be.”
- Harold Bloom
That's a Nietzsche quote about Ralph Waldo Emerson.
@@dorejo96 That's a homoerotic chat-up line... I hear it worked.
This is exactly how I thought he would sound.
I was about to make that comment. Amazing how it's common sense
his voice sounds like his voice
Really? For me it sounds so flat …
god i love his writing sm. hes such an interesting person
We need more videos like this!
A successful blending of the pothead and wino styles of giving an interview.
I think he's one of the most interesting and unique writers of the millennial generation. I assume many of the folks who view his work as bland and distasteful, fundamentally misunderstand our generation. He captures the millennial experience as well or better than anyone. Not saying he's the best writer of this generation (although I'm personally a big fan) but he's undoubtedly one of the most original.
" I assume many of the folks who view his work as bland and distasteful, fundamentally misunderstand our generation."
I think you mean they understand us too well.
original doesn't necessarily mean good.
Who is the best millennial writer then? Genuinely curious since i haven’t read many.
Do more of these videos, paris review!
i vibe w him so much
This guy is amazing!
Genius.
Being a millennial, I don't know if there's a writer I identify more with than Lin. The hate he gets is interesting. Many visionaries are often disregarded. He's definitely wields a lot of influence modern fiction. How important he is will be decided by time.
"the hate he gets is interesting" He gets hate because he was in a relationship with a 16 year old when he was in his 20s and used to force that person to driving him places so he, an adult, could shoplift. he's an abusive creep and a lazy bum.
I like him.
the first writer i see that doesn’t use times new roman for writing
Excelente ♥️
this is how the playstation was invented
i’m writing this to read is some of best advice for a writer. the best thing about millennials is their adherence to minimalism.
hoverhanding a cat, come on tao you're better than that
nice meme
I really don't like his writing but this interview was really good.
U fuckin hater
i just watched a norman mailer interview. then i watched this. the contrast made me wanna shoplift ti-82 calculators and blog about family bands made up of incestuous musicians. and spray paint people's keyholes.
God to bed Tao
Why does he talk with his arm floating in the air like he's describing how one survives a knife attack?
Anni jo
I could definitely beat him up
+Maverick Steel Panther Prince you don't get it, he's a writer
I'll write him out of existence if he tries any shit with me
@The Pacifist Gamer After Maverick Steel Panther Prince kicks Tao Lin's ass and you kick Maverick Steel Panther Prince's ass, I'll kick yours, after which Macaulay Culkin will kick mine and the world will be all better.
U fuckin mediocre hater
I vaguely did ecstasy here, and vaguely did adderal there…I am the william burroughs of suburban millenials…vaguely
I vaguely like this comment.
zzzzzzzz hack
As bland and uninteresting writer as my generation's produced.
Stop talking about yourself.
Courtney Valdez: I suspect we haven't seen the worst yet. Tao was just a teaser.
