After rewatching my Logitech BRIO 500 review (ua-cam.com/video/e3rbaeGVYJs/v-deo.html), there was a firmware update installed on the BRIO 500 before I shot this video. It appeared to have corrected the focus hunting I experienced in my initial tests, and you'll also notice that the native color tuning is also better with minimal adjustments (it's much less purple). Those things plus the auto-framing make it a great choice - kudos to the product team and whoever worked on the firmware update at Logitech. 🙂👍

Hi Jeremy, I have literally been going nuts, reading, watching, searching reviews, wash, rinse repeat, looking for a reasonable upgrade from my cheap $40 webcam. The only holdup for me is being nervous about shopping on amazon, just because of horror stories I have read in reviews. There probably isn't one kind of webcam on amazon without negative reviews of problems ranging from not working, to poor quality. Many of these reviews on youtube don't get into the "alleged" problems that people report. I am looking at a$150 max spending for a cam, but I am not going to be doing any live streaming, just content recording with no moving around, just sitting at a desk talking, etc, but trying to find the best quality for my budget(I have an external mic as well). At the same time, I hate taking risks with something that may quit working after a couple months and not be be able to return it. Where I live, most electronics, in the stores have a 1 year warranty. If it breaks down, just simply take it back to the store. Do you have some advice in what my best bet would be for a reliable webcam ? (considering my budget and circumstances) ? Thanks 😉
@@forlostsouls01 Amazon reviews can be pretty daunting. i don't think you can go wrong with the Brio 500. It's new, so there is still firmware update support, the image is better than previous generations in terms of color balance, software has improved and it works with Windows UVC controls. Amazon reviews also give it 4.4/5 at the moment. I'm not a huge fan of small sensor 4K cameras and I think you'll be fine with 1080p resolution. It's more about your lighting and audio to be honest, versus worrying about 1080p or 4K.
The year is 2024 and the C920 still carries for the price point. I find that most of it short comings can be fixed with proper lighting. If you really want to step up from a webcam, just buy a camera and you will see real quality difference for the amount of money spent. This is just my opinion.
I agree. Another tip for lighting is if you use RGB lighting with the C920, because it's exposure and white balance metering the entire frame, manually set white balance, tune it to your face first, then tweak the color of your background lights to match what a human eye would see. I just got this process down, and it's why earlier videos were very purple or yellow hued, but Logitech (and Nexigo) cameras are very hard to dial in when you have a blue or other colored background, or use green or bluescreen
A really useful comparison. These logitechs seem to have a functional microphone, whereas so many devices have the bucket in an empty cell sound. (in reviews anyway). Oddly the brio 505 varient is super discounted at the moment in the UK, so I'm trying to work out what the differences are.
I believe some of the variants are just finish and packaging. The initial ones were very much trying to look like recycled materials with different color speckles, other variants are full black. Then others have retail packaging vs. brown cardboard boxes (business packaging).
For mics, the other general observation I'm finding with budget webcams and their internal microphones is that it really does come down to microphone placement and how close it is to your mouth. So for that to work, you need a wide angle lens and to bring the webcam physically closer to your face so your head doesn't fill the frame.
@@DeployJeremy a bit of searching implies that the business cams use a different management software to update the firmware, whereas the consumer ones use G Hub software. Both types use the same camera management software.
Sorry for the late reply, UA-cam filtered this one for some strange reason. I think the Logi Tune software now does both enterprise and consumer. Optional TL;DR reading: Having worked in IT for device management, I can imagine how G Hub wouldn't be added to an enterprise software catalog or a standard OS image install sequence. Support terms aside, it's big, the auto-updating (assuming it can't be silently disabled during setup), gaming peripheral RGB support, and because it looks gamer-y, it wouldn't be added. That's a bit of a shame, because the Blue Voice microphone tuning software would be usable in the enterprise and help for remote work. The camera settings app and Logi Tune compared to G Hub seem relatively lightweight in comparison.

The rear of the foot has adhesive for pivoting the camera up/down for top-down shots. You may be limited pivoting your camera up/down frequently if the adhesive isn't making full left-to-right contact, but should be fine for straight on normal filming
Why does it says Brio 505 has the detachable usb cord online ? Which one is newer and better Brio 505 or Brio 500 ? And white or graphite black color ? Thanks
They are the same camera from what I can tell. The 500 is the retail model and 505 is the business model. Someone said the Brio gets very very warm quickly but the Elgato doesnt... 2) what does business mean ? Would the Brio 505 be good for steaming gaming ? 3) And can you zoom in and zoom out quick and easy with the Brio as your streaming
@@Wroyals_World_W That's a tough call. As a game streamer only, I'd say the Elgato Facecam by a fraction. As a great all around and easy to use, remote work + streaming webcam, I'd normally recommend the Brio 500/505. Elgato Facecam also does not have an internal mic, but I'm guessing that as a streamer, you have one already. If not, for sound quality alone and low price, I really like the Razer Seiren Mini - the only thing it's missing is real time monitoring. I hate wearing headphones for long periods of time, so I'm OK with it, but you may want real time monitoring for game streaming.
Hey there! Which Logitech tuning software is the best to use? I have both Logi Tune and Logitech G Hub installed. They both seem to do the same thing more or less, I'm confused!
It depends and both change the save underlying settings. If you have other Logitech gear (mic, keyboard, etc) and prefer GHub, use that. If you only have the camera, I'd use that.
There shouldn't be an impact on quality using a USB adapter, especially at 1080p. I use them all the time. Quality would only potentially get impacted if the USB A port doesn't have enough bandwidth to support data transfer. For example, USB 2.0 trying to transfer a 4K video will sometimes result in the camera going down to max resolution of 1920x1080 and disabling 4K.
UPDATE: With the newest firmware I was able to fix it and no longer resemble Homer Simpson! 2.0.64 is good with auto exposure disabled (-5 for me, gain at 22), and auto white balance disabled (set to 4820). It's a little pink, but 1000% better than before! Thanks for nudging and causing me to upgrade from 2.0.58 to 2.0.64
In my country c922 is 125 dollars brio 500 is 149 dollars If i want to stream and create content, which one would be better? I have seen other videos talk very badly about brio 500 but in others, the webcam looks really great. What would you advise me?
Are you using logitech capture with the streamcam? I just bought the streamcam about 4 days ago and i am NOT pleased. @@DeployJeremy So with Logitune it will not record into “Capture”? On my Mac, if I use Quicktime for capturing with the StreamCam I only get 1280x720. Is there another software you suggest for capturing webcam on computer? Thanks
@MemphisMike901 I use OBS to record the video itself. It's free and can also modify image and sound settings for recording, but you'll need to spend a little time learning it's features. obsproject.com/ and I did a quick start setup video on it here ua-cam.com/video/_oh3G35R23g/v-deo.htmlsi=gneWEfYTBfTvqPNs
@@DeployJeremy thank you. OBS sounds more like what I need. I figure if i learned Final Cut ProX OBS should be obtainable! Appreciate your answers here. I know this is a somewhat older video.
@@MemphisMike901 No worries. Happy to help and good luck. You can get a basic OBS setup running on a few minutes and take your time getting the most advanced stuff running. By the way, if you're using a USB or XLR microphone with your webcam, you'll want to check this video out to sync audio, which is often about 55ms ahead of your video (this is true whether you use OBS or other recording apps). ua-cam.com/video/xM7bJQb3rK0/v-deo.html
I believe the 930 should be slightly better in terms of optics, but I only have the C920 and C922. I have trouble getting the colors to look accurate with either of those

But C920 Camera Is Need A Settings Fixxing.. 1.Shiny Areas (Brightness) Need Little Down; 2.Contrast Need A Little Up; 3.Saturation Need A Little Up; Maybe, Shadows Or Dark Areas Could Be Little Down (Make A Darkest) And Volaa.. We Have A Better Than Old Image.. (I Think).
The Stream cam does awful with lights in the background. I did not understand why Jeremy has literal lamps in the background - my experience with the Streamcam is that it causes graininess, odd shadowing, washed-out look, and so-on. It performs much more like the others with all the light in the foreground. Also in my opinion, it's 10x as important to have good lighting behind the camera and on you (and none in the background such as lamps or sunlight) than it is to have a good camera. A great webcam with a bright window in the background will look pretty mediocre. And a C920 will do just fine with 10 minutes spent to figure out your lighting situation.
Logitech marketing and sales training team need to learn from your work. I was in 2 different Logitech stores this week to buy a webcam and none of them can help me make a decision.
Thank you. I'm a big fan of the Brio 500 now as far as Logitech goes. I'm starting to wonder if my Brio 4k and C920 have something in the optics stack that yellows with heat or over time. As long as I can remember even when new the Brio 4k image was too yellow and when you adjust white balance for skin tones, it's way too purple. You see it in my videos, too. The 500 is clean and 4k doesn't help with those little sensors imho
Sorry for the delay, UA-cam moved this reply to "Held for review" for some reason. 60fps is fine, these adapters don't materially impact USB bandwidth for normal 5 and 10 Gb incoming connections. They might impact 40 Gb Thunderbolt speeds and other aspects, like charging and DisplayPort out, but you don't need to worry about that for a 1080p60 incoming camera feed.
10k US dollars? I would get a Sony A7S 4 with a 35mm F1.4 autofocus zoom lens as a primary camera, then maybe a Sony a6600 with 16mm f1.4 Sigma AF lens as a secondary camera. That will leave you around $5k for audio (Shure SM7dB), lights and set decoration, assuming you already have a PC capable of streaming.
@@iamrocoyt no worries, that helps. For $120, you can probably find a Logitech BRIO 4K. If you install the updated firmware for it using Logi Tune and get a 12" or larger ring light directed at your face, it will look good. I also like the OBSBOT Meet 4K in that price range.

Yes, there are lots of ways to do that. In Windows you can set default mic to another, or using OBS it works like that with separate audio. I'm Teams or Zoom, you can also set to another mic. Note that a separate mic is usually coming in about 50ms faster, so your lips may be slightly out of sync. I did a video on correcting that in OBS

I have the same happen using my Elgato Cam Link 4K capture cards with Teams meetings. I don't know if it is the camera or Teams or something in Windows with the UVC driver - the same happens to me using OBS while recording on many cameras.

Also, is the yellow tint issue solved? Finally where would I find info about setting up 2 cameras on one computer and how to connect to an external sound system?
Great to hear that 🙂. You probably need to set up OBS so it is easy to switch between 2 cameras. I did a video on that here ua-cam.com/video/_oh3G35R23g/v-deo.html and you would just set up 2 scenes that you can switch between. Remember that you need to set up both a camera and a microphone for both scenes. Brio yellow isn't solved, but you can color correct it in OBS, see ua-cam.com/video/TEqQnEuTC44/v-deo.html

Thanks 😁
MJPEG (what all of these cameras do) is *not* the same as MPEG. That extra "J" is actually a pretty huge difference.
camera did you use to record the video 😅 lol it looks nice
oh i see it in the caption thank you!
I was about to buy the Brio 4k, but from what I see in this video, would the Brio 505 be a smarter purchase?
Hi Jeremy, great video as I'm about to invest in a webcam, question can you an external microphone with the Brio 500? cheers Liam
You can from your PC or Mac, but it wouldn't plug into the Brio 500.
@@DeployJeremy thanks for getting back to me, why not? Could I plug in a RJL wireless mic?
@@ljscalemodels526 i mean on the webcam itself, there is no 3.5mm audio jack, but of course you can use a different mic plugged into your computer. Then you set that microphone as your default. That's how my camera and separate mic is set up on mine.
@@DeployJeremy thanks so much for getting back to me
thanks, cam bro

great video! thank you very much
whats the best option for home office? teams meetings etc. the brio 500 or c920?
Brio 500 all day
what camera do you use normally in the video that is not the logitec cameras?
I normally use a Sony A7 or ZV-E10
I see it now in your description: Sony A7 II
@DeployJeremy Hi! Will the Brio 500 fit 1000R
curved monitors?
I don't have a 100r monitor to test, but I don't see why it wouldn't. The base is adjustable with a friction foot. The rear of the foot has adhesive for pivoting the camera up/down for top-down shots. You may be limited pivoting your camera up/down frequently if the adhesive isn't making full left-to-right contact, but should be fine for straight on normal filming
@@DeployJeremy Thanks bro!
What are the supported audio sample rates?
I usually don't add that detail, unless the mic is a major feature, like the Samson Go Mic Video for example. Most webcam mics to my ear aren't usable
What is that webcame you originally use ?
I used a Sony ZV-E10 with Viltrox 23mm F1.4 lens for a-roll on this one.
How much fps is the brio 500?
It will do 30fps at 1080p and 60fps at 720p
@@DeployJeremy what’s a good budget camera with 1080p 60 fps
@@jonscriffignano the Logitech BRIO 4K can do 1080p 60 and is relatively inexpensive these days.
@@DeployJeremy Anything for $80 or less that’s 1080p 60 fps?
Is there a difference between Brio 4k and Stream Edition?
Not sure, sometimes they bundle in streaming software like Streamlabs.
can I use BRIO-500 for recording class lectures on 8x4 feet WHITEBOARD ????? or can I use c922 ???
For that I would actually use the C922. Its image is a little sharper.
Iv made my dissection thank ye
Why does it says Brio 505 has the detachable usb cord online ? Which one is newer and better Brio 505 or Brio 500 ? And white or graphite black color ? Thanks
They are the same camera from what I can tell. The 500 is the retail model and 505 is the business model. Often that means the packaging is more muted and recyclable (cardboard box), but I would guess that support and servicing terms are also different. Both have graphite, white, and rose color options with a fixed USB-C cable.
@@DeployJeremyoh okay thanks i think im go with the Brio 505 because it says it was released January 2023 ... while the 500 was September 2022 ...its slightly newer, but your right they both have the same specs
@@Wroyals_World_Wit's certainly possible that the internal components are slightly different/updated and business expectation is for the camera to last longer, so it's a good choice.
@@DeployJeremy last few questions be4 i make my purchase ... i appreciate your help ....
1) is the Elgato Facecam better then the Logitech Brio 505 ?
Excelente video
Thank you
Can you try adding mokose HDMi cams to a yolobox?
I'm sorry, I don't have a Yolobox. They look pretty handy though.
Can you use the Brio 500 with an adapter to UBS C to USB A and have the same image quality?
There shouldn't be an impact on quality using a USB adapter, especially at 1080p. I use them all the time. Quality would only potentially get impacted if the USB A port doesn't have enough bandwidth to support data transfer. For example, USB 2.0 trying to transfer a 4K video will sometimes result in the camera going down to max resolution of 1920x1080 and disabling 4K.
@@DeployJeremy Thanks!
What is the firmware version of BRIO 4K? Is it 2022 version?
It claims to be up-to-date with version 2.0.64
UPDATE: With the newest firmware I was able to fix it and no longer resemble Homer Simpson! 2.0.64 is good with auto exposure disabled (-5 for me, gain at 22), and auto white balance disabled (set to 4820). It's a little pink, but 1000% better than before! Thanks for nudging and causing me to upgrade from 2.0.58 to 2.0.64
That seems like it’s the older 2017 model. Amazon has 2022 model. Older model had bad auto focus issue.
In my country c922 is 125 dollars
brio 500 is 149 dollars
If i want to stream and create content, which one would be better? I have seen other videos talk very badly about brio 500 but in others, the webcam looks really great. What would you advise me?
Are you using logitech capture with the streamcam? I just bought the streamcam about 4 days ago and i am NOT pleased. It overexposes terribly and with the capture software i see no adjustments made when adjust image sliders. I may take it back to best buy. Nor can I install the ACE audio control software. I am using (Mac) late 2016
I'm not a fan of the Logi Capture software. Logi Tune is nice and lightweight comparatively, but does not record. For me that's fine.
I find c920 and c930c and Logitech streamcam at the seem price which one i buy ?
I believe the 930 should be slightly better in terms of optics, but I only have the C920 and C922. I have trouble getting the colors to look accurate with either of those
I use the blue yeti versus webcam mics.
Good choice
C920 Is Best And 2. Best Is Brio 500 3.Best Stream Cam And Brio 4K Is Bad..
But C920 Camera Is Need A Settings Fixxing..
1.Shiny Areas (Brightness) Need Little Down;
2.Contrast Need A Little Up;
3.Saturation Need A Little Up;
Maybe, Shadows Or Dark Areas Could Be Little Down (Make A Darkest)
And Volaa..
And a C920 will do just fine with 10 minutes spent to figure out your lighting situation.
brio 500 vs streamcam?
I prefer the 500, the the Streamcam with sufficient light is also pretty good.
The 500 is clean and 4k doesn't help with those little sensors imho
does brio 500 looks stuttering?
It shouldn't. If you saw stuttering, it could be the OBS recording, video render or UA-cam processing.
I'm a Tutor. I use zoom to conduct lessons. Please which webcam would you suggest I purchase?
Thank you Sir.
Logitech BRIO 500 is a solid choice for its price.

I don't have USB-C on my PC, how to connect it?
You would use a USB-C to USB-A adapter. You can find them for $3 to $10 (often for a pack of 2) on Amazon and other retailers.
@@DeployJeremy Would 60 fps still work? I mean when using an adaptor and connecting it to USB, instead of type C directly to MB, or will it be locked?
Sorry for the delay, UA-cam moved this reply to "Held for review" for some reason. 60fps is fine, these adapters don't materially impact USB bandwidth for normal 5 and 10 Gb incoming connections. They might impact 40 Gb Thunderbolt speeds and other aspects, like charging and DisplayPort out, but you don't need to worry about that for a 1080p60 incoming camera feed.
Brio 500 is $99 right now on Amazon guys!!
Hello bro,
My budget is 10k and I'm looking webcam for streaming which can have also rgb background.. which webcam should i go for?
10k US dollars? I would get a Sony A7S 4 with a 35mm F1.4 autofocus zoom lens as a primary camera, then maybe a Sony a6600 with 16mm f1.4 Sigma AF lens as a secondary camera. That will leave you around $5k for audio (Shure SM7dB), lights and set decoration, assuming you already have a PC capable of streaming.
@@DeployJeremy Sorry for creating mess, it is 10k Indian rupees. almost 120 dollars.

What app are you using the camera in after configuring it? Does it also have UVC camera controls that might be overwriting the G-Hub settings?
@@DeployJeremy for some strange reason, windows camera app is messing with g-hub picture settings. i can get my settings automatically in teams videocall if i dont open windows camera app after ive applied my g-hub settings.
Can I turn the mic off the c920 and record audio with a mic instead? Great comparisons btw!
The difference in picture and audio is not so significant as the price
Hello can I connect to ps5 brio 4k?

Yup 🙂
Logitech c920 was doing good until it died on me in half a year after I bought it. I don't think I will ever rebuy.
I have a c920, and i want to upgrade but it is still going strong after 10 years it is unlucky that yours died so soon.
the c920 is still the best bang for your buck after all these years.
Agreed. It still holds up
What the app did he use to adjust the camera settings?
That is the relatively new Logi Tune app. It replaces the old camera settings app from Logitech
Ho about telling us what camera you are using for your intro? It is better looking than any of these webcams.
It's a Sony ZV-E10 with Viltrox 23mm F1.4 AF lens into a Cam Link capture card. As you rightfully point out, it's kind of buried in the description though.
Hi Jeremy , I have been using the Logitech Brio 500 but on Microsof Teams for Windowns after using it for 10 minutes or so it feezes or shut down the entire compute making it slow. Do you know any fix? I am using the latets firmware of both Windows and Logitech and read online on Microsoft some users experiencing the same. Thank you.
I have the same happen using my Elgato Cam Link 4K capture cards with Teams meetings. I don't know if it is the camera or Teams or something in Windows with the UVC driver - the same happens to me using OBS while recording on many cameras.
The last cam is working at 10fps.
The Sony? It might have been a rendering issue, it's set to 60
I think brio 500 is the best
It's pretty good. I'm looking forward to testing out the Brio Mx next

Your videos are helping our Northern CO Weavers Guild move into a hybrid meeting! Thx.... Now, where can I find info about what type of computer we need to have to use 2 Brio 4K's?

Indeed we are fiber artists not computer specialists, and we use zoom at our monthly guild meetings so that people who are a long way away can participate. The C920 has been a great camera since 2012. It just needs good lighting.
Are you kidding me? Brio 500 stutters like crazy here.
The stuttering I saw is the Brio 4k at 4k. That was my OBS choking, the Brio 500 is smoother at 1080p. My main cameras are 60fps, so the Brio 500's 30fps may look slower post render, but it's 30fps.
