WELCOME TO A WALK IN BERLIN
Here i am walking around in Berlin city center and making walking tour videos in Berlin.
In this video let's walk at the night in Berlin 2024 starting from Potsdamerplatz to Brandenburger Tor until Alexanderplatz.
Tonight you’ll explore a Friday night in Berlin on the Festival of lights 20 for this year.
Berlin shines - that's what's behind it
Since 2005, visitors from all over the world can experience the Festival of Lights in Berlin once a year. During the international series of events, Berlin becomes the setting for one of the world's most famous festivals of lights. The colorful patterns, images or video projections on the illuminated buildings create a magnificent cityscape. Berlin buildings and landmarks in Mitte and other districts are illuminated.
The light installations are specially tailored for each individual building. They are creations of national and international artists, designers and creative teams. The works tell stories, convey messages or direct the focus on special and unique things.
Since 2017, there have always been installations dedicated to the theme of the environment. In this way, the artists want to draw attention to a more conscious approach to the environment and its resources.
Each festival is given a motto that fits current issues in the world. Some light installers are honored by receiving an award.

Motto 2024: Celebrating Freedom
At the start of the festival at 7 p.m., the illuminations of the landmarks and buildings throughout the city will be switched on. Every visitor of the festival is invited to stand in front of one of the buildings participating in the festival and witness the start of the Festival of Lights live. Most of the illuminations will be on display from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The 2024 festival will be held under the motto "Celebrating Freedom". The motto bundles themes such as freedom, free development of the individual and self-determination.
Highlights and Hotspots
The light art installations on Bebelplatz are particularly impressive every year. Here, visitors can take in the colorful light art projections, perfectly matched to the conditions, from three sides. The light shows will be accompanied by music. Another place with numerous different installations is Potsdamer Platz. This no less impressive hotspot is another one of the must-sees of the Festival of Lights.
