  • Episode 109. Eagle Rare should be apart of everyone's bourbon journey. Lots to enjoy, and I'm told it is a good value in the US. This review is a bit of a nod to my most watched video where I review BT vs Bulleit. Fun to shoot, I actually like both, but today, Eagle is the clear winner. It also costs a lot more in Canada! #whiskyfabric#whiskytube#whiskyneighbour

So…. I’m relatively new to drinking Bourbon, Whiskey, and Scotch. Actually, I was a beer guy most of my life (don’t ask me why because I hate it now). Recently I wanted a change from the top shelf tequilas, or occasional vodkas I usually drink. So, the first Bourbon I intentionally bought was the Bulleit Bourbon, and I immediately loved it. Drank that for a while, and just today I tried the 10 year. Wow, what a noticeable improvement, and difference. It’s honestly so damn delicious, and easy to drink. It was $47.99 at my store and that’s cheap for my area. I can’t wait to expand my horizons and try other things. If anyone sees my comment, and has the patience to read it lol, PLEASE send any recommendations my way. Really enjoyed watching your video btw, and can’t wait to try the Eagle Rare.

Welcome to the journey! There are so many excellent whiskies to enjoy. Since you enjoy Bulleit, have you tried any of the Wild Turkey range? Also high in rye, I would consider Rarebreed. Yes, it's hot, but a splash of water and it is so good. Thanks for dropping in.

The cost thing is funny. Here in the USA - Pennsylvania. Eagle Rare is $30 and Bulleit 10 is $50.
When I'm in the mood for mellow and sweet it's ER, when I'm in the mood for hot and spicy it's Wild Turkey 101. I don't drink much Bulleit these days. It tastes different to me. i guess they may have changed their source?

I agree with the chocolate and coffee tasting oak flavor in Eagle Rare. Most bourbons I drink are more fresh wood and spice flavors but Eagle Rare reminds me some of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked which has more of that dark chocolate or toasted marshmallows. It's mostly traditional bourbon flavor but it skews much more rich.
