Things we learned on this reaction: Alissa is a new(er) vocalist and is only 36 haha so that explains why she seems younger than Angela! Thanks for the info everyone.
Yeah AE is great, one of the creators of the legandary Gothenburg sound along with In Flames, At The Gates, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Hypocrisy, Soilwork etc. Btw you should definitely check out the new Carcass album!
Bit of info: when Arch Enemy started they did have a male front man, but I don't think he lasted long - Angela Gossaw stepped in which is when they became really popular, I'd really recommend Nemesis and Dead Eyes See No Future from that era! About 5/10 years ago Alissa (this vocalist) stepped in and Angela became the band's manager. This is by far my favourite of their new songs I've heard, but Reason to Believe is another good one, and does have some cleans in (I believe it might be their only song with lead cleans, but not certain). Hope you enjoy this incredible band!!
Singers in Arch Enemy: Johan Liiva 1995-2000, 3 albums Angela Gossow 2001-2014, 6 albums Alissa White Gluz 2014-, 2 albums so far and a 3rd coming soon.
Arch Enemy is from my small Swedish hometown Halmstad (as well as Roxette), started by my old friend Mike Amott. They had annoyingly rehearsal room next to mine. Before Alissa they had Angela as vocaalist. She is niwadays the manager of the bamd
I'm sure someone has mentioned it already, but this girl has only been in the band for a few years. Before her was Angela Gossow, and she was with the band for quite a long time. Before Angela joined, i believe it was the bassist who also did vocals. Alissa is Canadian too 🤘🤘
Arch Enemy is amazing!!! I'm so glad you guys reviewed them. You're faces are so funny. You guys rock my socks off!!! So much love to you 4eva! 💋💋❤️❤️❤️
How old are Johnny and Nathan? 15 years ago in Metal Band? They would have to be in 40s. Right? Makes me feel better about being in my late 40s and still loving Metal music 🤘🏾
u actually sound like two villians like when nath put on the viliian voice and johnny laughs all deep but its still cute. u two are so funny and WANGIE WANGIE
Definitely recommend doing the video for 'Kamelot - Liar Liar' for a mix of her clean and harsh vocals (she pretty much only does harsh vocals for Arch Enemy). For Arch Enemy official music videos with Alissa 'War Eternal', 'The World Is Yours', 'The Eagle Flies Alone'. Also, we have Timezone over here across the ditch :)
She’s actually the second female singer. The first was Angela Gossow. Angela is now the bands manager. Alyssa has only been in the band a few years now
ahh havnt listened to Arch Enemy in a long time! First gig I ever went to when I was like 14 or 15 was a metal tour with Machinehead, Trvium, Arch Enemy and Dragonforce. Baptism of fucking fire haha
That's the 1st of the new songs for me, and I must say that it's awesome. Alissa was the frontwoman for the band The Agonist, where she did a mix of harsh and clean vocals...you should check them out.
Reason to believe by Arch Enemy for clean vocals guys.An immense song, kick fucking ass. Top songs; Avalanche, The world is yours and Dreams of retribution.
On the topic of where they're from, I beliiieeeve they were founded in Sweden, but their members were from all over the place. Angela Gossow (former vocalist/current band manager) is from Germany, while Alissa White-Gluz (current vocalist) is actually from Canada.. Alissa is also in a relationship with Doyle from the Misfits, so, do with that info what you will lol
Top 3 arch enemy Nemesis My Apocalypse Carry the cross Yeah they’re all from the same album, so what 😁 Also this chick has only been there for the last 2 albums I believe. Angela Gossow was the singer before that for the bulk of their career
She was a guest on a few Kamelot songs and also did a cover of Demons are a Girls Best Friend with Powerwolf. Liar Liar by Kamelot has her doing some clean vocals and her clean vocals are absolutely insane too. She was also is in a song with Carnifex called No Light Shall Save us that has a pretty awesome video for it, and that is a super badass song if you haven't heard it yet.
Alissa is the greatest stage presence in music today. She has brought Arch Enemy to the top of the metal world. She can growl and sing clean vocals better than anyone!
Thank you gentlemen. That was great. Horns up🤘. Johan (male) was their first vocalist 1996-2000, then Angela (the godmother of scream, one of the pioneers and inspiration to current vocalist) 2000-2013, and now Alissa 2013-. Yeah she is younger. Born in 1986 I believe. The rest of the band members are around 50yo. Jeff Loomis, the blonde shred extraudinaire, just turned 50 this month. Arch is one of those bands where the obscure songs really stand out as more memorable and a greater rollercoaster ride. So it realy pays off to stray from the singles a bit and check out the other songs. My top three (very hard task) would (today) be: 1. Skeleton Dance, 2. Enemy Within, 3. Cult Of Chaos. But there are just so many more. I didn't really understand Arch until I began using good headphones.
Ok, the new single/video from Battle Beast is out today. The song is Master Of Illusion ua-cam.com/video/6sLSyTEXfCI/v-deo.html. Battle Beast is a heavy/power metal band from Finland. The band and song is brilliant.
Top 3 concerts I've ever been to, right before the pandemic bullshit, was Arch Enemy with Amon Amarth (and At the Gates and Grand Magus), they're amazing live.
Alissa only has one song with clean vocals in Arch Enemy "Reason to Believe." If you want to check out her first AE album War Eternal I can recommend it. That album kicked my ass when it came out.
If you want to listen to Arch Enemy with mostly clean vocals, then "Reason To Believe" song is what you are looking for. I suppose my top 3 are "The Eagle Flies Alone", "Nemesis" Wacken 2016 live version and "The World Is Yours", also older music with Angela is very good.

@@ln8300 I don't know much because as I said, I don't follow jinjer. Just saw a couple on youtube talking about it, and sounding sure about it. I asked them for more info. Could be bs.
Just listen to Alissa when she was in the Agonist and you will hear majestic cleans and dynamic screams. Overall a better vocalist then Courtney imo. It’s just under-utilised in Arch Enemy because it’s predominantly heavy screams.
The problem about Arch Enemy is they keep making the same old song since 20 years They hired Alyssa that is really good at alternating growl and clean voices and they use just her growl They hired Jefff Loomis at the guitar that can write amazing masterpieces (listen all Nevermore records and his solo albums) and still use him for 30 seconds solos They are just a waste of talented musicians
There’s a few reasons we do it: firstly, to avoid copyright. Secondly, to limit talking over the song. Thirdly, we fell most people coming to watch a reaction have already listened to the song or watched the clip, they’re here to listen to us break the song down and to have some laughs. Pausing the song means we don’t forget any of the points we were going to make, throw a few puns in and it separates us from all of the other channels. Thanks for watching
Not watching this one. As much as I would like to give it a listen, I still hold to the fact that the situation with the photographer was them being absolute shitheads to him.
Wow I just read about that it was a pretty shitty move by them & their management but oddly enough it's not the first time they have done that they also did it in 2010 when Angela was still in the band banned someone from their shows
I read the story. An amateur photographer, and professional lawyer, sent many long exhausting emails with unusual requests. The picture he was claiming pay for had not been watermarked and had been spread deliberately. It's basically like a hunter laying a trap. I've lived in Germany for many years and the overcomplicated law there is often used as a threat and a way to claim money. Many fraudulent claims are attempted. Angela obviously saw the unprofessionalism. Had the photographer acted professionally: 1. He would have watermarked. 2. He would have asked for the picture to not be used in big writing. And then list options to buy the rights to it. He's just an amateur exploiting loopholes in the legal system. In the end the picture was never used. Everyone's happy. I hear he snuck into a concert dispite the ban.
Things we learned on this reaction: Alissa is a new(er) vocalist and is only 36 haha so that explains why she seems younger than Angela! Thanks for the info everyone.

They are just a waste of talented musicians
I miss Angela. Ugh.

everyone who pause this song in the middle to make comments deserve dislike if video.
+1 dislike from me
sorry
There’s a few reasons we do it: firstly, to avoid copyright. Secondly, to limit talking over the song. Thirdly, we fell most people coming to watch a reaction have already listened to the song or watched the clip, they’re here to listen to us break the song down and to have some laughs. Pausing the song means we don’t forget any of the points we were going to make, throw a few puns in and it separates us from all of the other channels.
Thanks for watching

and thanks for explaining that.

Not watching this one. As much as I would like to give it a listen, I still hold to the fact that the situation with the photographer was them being absolute shitheads to him.
Wow I just read about that it was a pretty shitty move by them & their management but oddly enough it's not the first time they have done that they also did it in 2010 when Angela was still in the band banned someone from their shows
We don’t know anything about that, but watching this helps us, not them haha

She's 37.
