But now we finally have brand new music, and it absolutely RIPS! In this video we break down gear, musicality, the mix of the song, and I spend some time headbanging my ass off...

Fun fact…Alissa was hand picked by Angela Gossow to be her successor when she stepped down. This woman is hyper good as a vocalist and actually has incredible range. I kind of wish AE would use it, but her screams make her a fitting and amazing replacement for Angela.

Funny thing is, I tried really hard to make a thumbnail that DIDN’T look like I was eyeing Alissa, because I wasn’t. But some of the best shots in the video feature her, and that was one of my funnier faces. Haha. But you’ll see.

Alissa is amazing.Just like the rest of the band. I saw them live in Warsaw during their 2017 tour / Jinjer was supporting them,can you imagine how cool it was to have both of these bands during one night???/ and when she was signing my pack of my AE merch I brought with me Alissa was super kind.I mean,you could clearly see that she was really enjoying meeting the fans.

First and only time I saw Arch Enemy on a stage, they had a male singer :D and they opened for Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquillity and In Flames. That same night, that same stage. Best spent money of my life. It was 1999, in Milan.

Love the Angela era, but damn is Alissa is a powerhouse. Loved her with the Agonist, good fit for Arch Enemy. And I really love it when she guest vocals with Tarja and other clean vocal singers. Damn did you look more than impressed.
Alissa had some great features with Delain. She and Charlotte are really good friends too.

I am a big fan of Alissa in all of her other projects, but just could never get into her sound in Arch Enemy. I can't really put my finger on what it is, but it just didn't catch me at all like with Angela. This song however is f'ing awesome and I love it. More like this please! :)
Never seen Arch Enemy in concert, but I've seen Alissa 5 times. Twice with The Agonist, and three times as backup/female singer for Kamelot.
Actually ran into Alissa and Tommy Karevik walking around before a Kamelot show, while wearing my Seventh Wonder t-shirt (Tommy's other band).
I've also seen Jeff Loomis once with Nevermore.

I’ve been a fan of Jeff Loomis since his days in Nevermore. That was a great band. This new Arch Enemy song has me excited to hear more.
...funy, but Tank mentioned that he started listening to Arch Enemy when he started to explore more European bands and the first two were actually AE and In Flames. Why I'm telling it? Because in both those bands are now Jeff Loomis here and Chris Broderick there - once (maybe) the best ever Nevermore team! God deemed, Nevermore were f...n brilliant!
@@yayamii and both guitarist have a Megadeth connection, Jeff auditioned for the band when he was 16 (but was too young to join) and Chris played for the band, I love both guitarist and I love both Arch Enemy and In Flames and glad both of these talented guys have great bands to play with.

Arch Enemy is one of those bands i don't question whose vocalist era is better. Despite Angela singing Nemesis is still my favorite one, i still enjoy Alissa's era as much as i enjoyed hers. Another banger.
Since i discovered your channel, i had never seen you so cheered up about a song before, and it's not a judgement, i'm also so happy they've finally released a song again.
Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Arch Enemy were also the bands that got me into european metal, along Gojira.
Archspire is a a canadian technical death metal band and a new album of their's drops today, I forget if you covered one of the singles but more wouldn't hurt either.

Proud to be a Montrealer when Alissa is representing so damn well on the metal scene!! I remember discovering her back in the days with the song And their Eulogies sang me to sleep. The intro to this song is INSANE!!! And it still gives me goosebumps to this day. So happy she found a place to shine with Arch Enemy!

Arch Enemy is super hit and miss for me. The riffs, the sound, the vocals, the music in general? I absolutely adore. It's classic heavy and in your face. But the lyrical content tends to miss for me. It almost comes off... Cheesy? I don't know exactly what to call it. It just doesn't really land for me.
I will still gladly go see them live and such, though. I saw them in quite literally a triple A lineup a couple years back. At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth.
Exactly, let Alissa write all the lyrics ffs, I get it, it doesn't have to be essay-like lyrics she used to make in The Agonist but when she actually gets the opportunity to contribute (like The Race) it sounds much better than this for example. When I heard this song for the first time, it felt quite meh to me and now I realised it was mostly because of the lyrics... They can really do better than this.

@Ian you should check out Jacob Hansen's band Pyramaze! Progressive power metal that have had the likes of Matt Barlow and Lance King sing for them. For the best of all worlds I would recommend their most recent single "The Time Traveller" a conceptual piece that encompasses the three eras of the band and was composed and written by the bands founder and ex guitarist Michael Kammeyer. Epic is an understatement.

The race is the best track for me since Alissa joined the band. Loved them since Johan Liiva was the vocalist and they've evolved so much over the years. Love that the bands you mention at the start In Flames, Dark Tranquility and Soilwork are all Swedish, including then of course Arch Enemy even though Angela is German and they have some members through the years that are not Swedish so do they still count as a "Swedish" band. At least their origin is.
Also...still waiting for a Ghost video or two.
Some others that you might like from them are "War Eternal" and "As The Pages Burn".

Not really, actually. I get what you mean, but his technique and touch is insanely good, and those Floyd Rose bridges keep everything pretty solid. The only pain is restringing it. Haha
I love you reaction. And I get so much more informations about the Band. Befor I start to watch your videos I am only consuming this Music on my headphones and in my car. Sometimes I watched videos from Bands like JBO, Knorkator etc. But now I am starting more to enjoy to see Videos and it feels like it is less consuming to take the time to give the Videos and the Music more attention.

I first heard of Alyssa from the Agonist as well. I was always impressed with her diction in her harsh vocals. Also she has a beautiful singing voice as well. I agree with you on that she was one of them that paved the way for female harsh vocalists. Although Angela is also in that same category and is an OG in that category IMO. Loved the fact that Alyssa was chosen for Angela's replacement.
That is one of the things that I really like about Alyssa, she can scream so clearly I basically don't have to look up the lyrics for a new song. And I really like her tone of scream too, I've tried a few Angela songs but they aren't for me personally. I guess there are certain screaming tones that just throw me off. Liked a lot of the timing and speed changes that they did here. Riffing was great, good solo, drums were on point, the only thing I find tough to find is the bass guitar and it's not just this song but a lot of metal, maybe I'm trying to listen for the wrong tone, not to sure.
