Brilliant episode again :-) Loved Steve Nicol growing up and one of all time favourite players, don't really get to hear from him much over the years, so I really enjoyed this one and hearing some of his stories. That trackie top Aldo is wearing is the business, I would never take it off 🤣 Hope we can get some more players from that era.

I love me some Steve Nicol! He's right about criticizing players. You can do that. We as fans have the right to do that. If we do, it doesn't mean we aren't supporters. I've seen too often the moment you call out the performance, you are called a fraud supporter... all from an account that begs for followers and attacks anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Brilliant podcast Aldo😊 However you guys should know your Liverpool history. Nicol asked a silly question about swapping an European Cup for being unbeaten( swapping being champions of Europe for a Stát Only Arsenal care about) . Well Liverpool have the only distinction in world football of not only going a whole season unbeaten but doing it in their VERY FIRST SEASON!! Yes, in their first season in the football league 1983-84 we played 28 league games, winning 22 and drawing 6 (a much better average than Arsenal). I'm surprised you guys didn't know that. Yes it was division two but he didn't say what division. The club couldn't just start in division one, they had to earn their place at the top table. Give us credit.
@1:14:16 HILARIOUS. His answers to these questions prove we can believe him when he says he doesn’t care about medals & awards & that he doesn’t need them for validation. Most guys are lying through their teeth when they say that. Stevie’s a rare one.
Love Steve Nicol, but my hero is Steve Heighway, I'm not from Liverpool, but Heighway made me look at football and think wow. I still love my home team but Heighway is the reason why I love two teams.

My dad & uncle lived in Saudi, dad in late 80s for 3yrs & uncle in 90s for 8, working for the U.S. & Saudi govts. My dad left us in the U.S. & uncle took his family. Anyways both despised it. They were openly hated by the citizens. Had no freedom of movement “for their protection” when it was really bc they were non Muslim. They open up for fellow Muslims for religious reasons & occasionally for western foreigners for PR reasons otherwise westerners are not welcome in the Kingdom. For the players that have families there their wives can’t do anything & if their husbands aren’t with them they are relegated to small rooms in businesses & restaurants that are the equivalent to away dressing rooms in stadiums so they can’t “tempt” or corrupt other men through Satan. This is all very tip of the iceberg crap & their lives are just as restricted now as they were back then. And beyond all that it is dangerous there bc the majority of people there couldn’t care less about soccer & don’t want them there. Both my dad & uncle lived in several other countries during their careers and loved every place they lived (including Bahrain & Kuwait) except Saudi Arabia which they hate with a passion. Their shopping malls, stores, televisions, everything is full of US products etc. yet they openly hate you. There’s not much more off putting than going to an American restaurant full of hypocrites wearing American clothes eating hamburgers who are eager to tell you how much they hate you & that they pray daily for the US’ destruction -all this while they were there helping them defend themselves from Iran who wanted to destroy them as bad as they did Israel & the US. Unless the players playing there care for nothing in life but money they are 100% miserable. People shouldn’t worry about Alisson being tempted to go bc he & his wife are devoted Christians + his wife is a practicing doctor which is not something she’d be able to do there (they won’t even let her drive). You think the Beckers would be cool with their daughters getting a joke education just because she’s female…? No chance. The Saudi project will collapse bc they think they’ll accomplish it the same way they accomplished getting ownership of golf & the PGA. It’s too different in how each sport works & because golfers travel constantly from country to country & their families aren’t stuck in an oppressive country that hates everything about you (they hate all westerners not just the US UK & Israel).
