- ESPN FC’s Craig Burley and Steve Nicol are at loggerheads over which team Jurgen Klopp will pick for Liverpool’s FA Cup fifth round tie vs. Chelsea. Nicol insists Klopp will stick with the kids considering they’re chasing Premier League history and remain in the hunt to retain the Champions League, whilst Burley thinks there’s no way the German boss would expose his youngsters to a similar thrashing that they received in the Carabao Cup vs. Aston Villa.

If anything Liverpool gave Shrewsbury a fighting chance of winning this game!! The amount of distance covered has increased per game.. The short sprints, the long sprints, the intensity in internationals has all meant that players need to be in peak condition.. Think premier league should be cut down to 18 with 2 getting relegated.. No more international friendly competition yolk.. Keep caribou cup for teams outside top 7 with a large prize pool.. Teams in top 16 from season before don't enter cup till 4 th round ..any solution where top teams have to play less than 70 games a season.. This is why the FA cup is treated this way.. 1.5. Klopp has every right to field any team he wishes, everyone trusts him - the owners, the staff, the players, the Acadamy, the U23 players, everyone.
2.FA Cup disrespected the Premier League and all teams in it by putting replays in the PL winter break. PL explicitly gave the break for teams to rest, and asked not to play any games whatsoever. FA backstabbed the PL basically.
3. And thirdly, its not the best option, because there are so many games coming up one after another. The FA 5th round is just one full day before the PL game vs Bournemouth, which itself is only 3 full days before the UCL big match vs Athletico in Madrid, so there is the ''added bonus'' of a trip to an away game. Yes, not too far away, but still.
4. PL and UCL are priorities, noone is going to shed a tear if Liverpool win the PL and UCL but lose the FA Cup. Yes, everyone would like to see Liverpool win everything as much as possible, but sometimes its no possible.
So just field a mix of U23, reserves and the first team vs Chelsea and win it. I think a strong defense is key, so I wouldnt trust Lovren yet, he seemed shaky vs Shrewsbury at best of times. Then try not to over-do it vs Bournemouth and max focus on the UCL game vs Athletico, which is probably the most important game so far in 2020 for Liverpool.

I think it will most likely be a mixture of the young promising players and first teamers thatve lacked game time or are returning from injury.
