My grandma was the last person in our family that survived boarding school for Indigenous Americans and thats why I dont like churches so much. Born catholic but my heart and soul is always going back to my roots and to the great spirit that gived us strenght to survive in our homeland and continent. The white Americans didnt think my ancestors would survived, but we are still here. Ghost dance til the day I die and even if they took our land, our culture and language, we will never forgett our roots. NEVER!

If you're Native American, then you know the story of those schools all too well. Stuff like that is why many don't respect religion.
What the nun's and priest's did was a horrible thing and I don't think God would have approved with all of this.
That's how Catholic missionaries brought bad name to Christianity, even misinterpreting the Bible. While the early Church fathers would preach with love, peace and respect for the people., and even died protecting the people and saving them.
Scary movie. A faith that was supposed to tolerate even the sinners shown as tragically violent to the point being murderous is the truth but looking at it in a movie spoils the good parts of the faith most faithful cherish deeply.

I am a Native American (Cherokee) and where I live has the highest population of these schools 😢 This makes me sick. Everyone like the nuns, and priests were sick. God bless everyone who was apart of that or had loved ones or family members that died.
All respect for your culture. I hope there will be a time you get your land back or at least a great part of it!

This is the kinda stuff certain politicians want to erase from history, after seeing this I kinda am ashamed of being Catholic I'm not changing but I certainly don't see the Catholic institution as before, I have seen Catholic priest go into a community and divide it create chaos, not all priest are unqualified most are the real thing unfortunately we have wanna be in the priest hood and I feel pitty on the community this priest are stationed, and politicians wanting to erase black slavery from history it's like a family wanting to cover the abuse, the incest, the beatings, the treachery, the back stabbings, and then say nothing to see here it's all good hurray for the people that bring all this muck from the past to light.
I’m half catholic and half Christian, more Christian though, you don’t need to change your religion just because of bad reputations. I personally think the catholic religion is beautiful. Not all nuns and priests are bad❤

What we did to the Indians was wrong... It was evil. I can't believe you can say you believe in God and yet treat people like this 😢 I am not native American, but I have great sense of right and wrong and all that stuff that happened did not even come close to obeying Gods number one rule: 'love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
My best friend is Native American We literally grew up together Since we were in diapers I could never imagine anybody treating her the way It made my blood boil... But I can say those nuns had their judgement day.. But it is important for their story To be told no matter how evil it was In today standards it's kind of crazy But native Americans don't blame us as much as African Americans Who still blame us by slavery Even though we have nothing to do with it Even though it was their own black Ancestors That sold there Family to the white people But yet we get Blamed for it... To where you have Native Americans Who don't blame white people For coming in and taking their land... What does that say to the generations of people that we are in today..

My mom says the war between Native Americans and white people isnt over yet its just constant fighting The natives wanting their land back but choose to not do anything and The white people taking controll but Im actually glad some people know about the past and that us Native Americans (Im native) are not entirely unknown.
