Gigabyte Screwed Up....BADLY!

- In this day and age, we very rarely see a "bad" product being brought to the market. Most brands have been around for so long, that they know what works, and know what doesn't. Today sadly isn't one of those days. Gigabyte AORUS have decided to dip their toes into the AIO realm of cooling, and frankly, we really wish they hadn't because Gigabyte screwed up....BADLY! Watch the video to find out exactly why!

The fan gap is for Ram clearance on smaller cases, it's genius. You're a banana...
Lmao!
umm if a case supports 240ml radiators (which it will specify in its spec sheet) then that would of already been accounted for.... plus who is putting 240ml radiators in itx cases??
@@standarsh8056 Not necessarily ITX cases. I had this exact instance on a tight clearance atx mid where the fans are literally touching the ram, really hard to insert.Turn 90 degrees and you have clearance with the cut away
@@standarsh8056 Tons of people. Water cooling is like the only option you have for good cooling in a lot of itx cases because the CPU cooler clearance is so small in most cases. Water cooling allows you to offset that restriction because the radiator is in a different location as opposed to having a heatsink come out from the motherboard. Like 99% of the builds in the meshlicious (one of the most popular itx cases) uses a 240/280mm AIO/water-cooling
@@standarsh8056 oh me!
No, please, don't hold back, tell us what you really think ;)
The entire premise of the failure is the clinching reason why I'll buy this. I don't want the software running full time. If I can flash the onboard controller firmware with the display I want it to have, then remove the software and service completely count me in. I do that for my mouse profiles, and doing it for my cooler seems WAY better than running the software 24/7 for it.
You should review the new waterforce one, aorus has fixed the issues and made it way better!
LOL about the wires part, I have the same gripe about RGB LED vs cables regardless of cooler.
You can buy the terminals in a kit, get some wire and extend the wire you need. I do this or replace the wire from the source (better) all the time with 3D printers.
there's this thing called cable ties…....it's quite revolutionary ! !
Can I ask, can you customize the fan speed curve to your own liking?
But is it only for 280 mm because I am gonna buy 360mm one pls tell me if it is good for overclocking or any other aio pls ans
This was two years ago, did they combine both software into one or they still separate software?
seepeerate.
i have had this aio for going on 18 months, on a 5950x 280mm onee. this is greeat nevver goees above 78c
I just want an AIO with a screen. How is the screen of this compared to the Kraken? My buddies got the Kraken and the screen is nice and bright but I’m considering this one because my mobo is also a gigabyte and it’s slightly cheaper.
If you can afford nzxt z one dont get this
Considering I had already purchased it before the video, some of what you said is not so great but so long as its functional and works like it says I am happy with it. I think the rgb looks decent and as far as the unevenness on the fans you mentioned I don't think I will really notice that once it is in the case on the top. Considering this is only the second to have a screen I think I will give it some slack and keep what I already bought. Hopefully they will improve these things for next time though because the screen idea itself was a very good idea and I hope to see more of that in the future.
Now that I have used it longer I will say rgb fusion 2.0 sucks and idk why you can only use .bmp images which I can't even use because my rgb fusion doesnt give me an option to even change modes so I am stuck with the temps in celsius and a simple colored line. I am hoping once I get a better gpu it will allow for more. Otherwise the cooler it self works good.
@@shalalameowmeow3601 Any update?
@@mikecarter8880 i bought this aio and i sold it after 1 month of used, bcuz the customisation is limited, and cannot put gif/video and only supports .bmp format, it takes around 5 minute to just put the 20kb bmp picture, so i got bored and no longer happy with the product, but i can say that the performance is good for cooling. But keep that in mind that gigabyte no longer cares about this aio anymore, and they already abandoned this product and don't get any updates, this aio only gets one update and then its dead.
The vibrant aorus rgb does give that performance boost though!
I had the auros 240 aio and returned it back in a week after the pump lcd developed faults with software issues such as muffled imaging or read out or no image.
ended up taking the plunge to a nzxt kraken z73 and i dont regret it at all that aio is fabulous
i have a QUESTION? can this Pump show Gifs? or only pictures and text?? Please answer :)
Only picture and text
@@i3do ok thanks so much ok. So noww i womt get this 👌🤡
Hi gd vid whot windows are u useing with that mine not working with win 10 64bit chears
so this is a good aio besides the software?
I had the Aorus 240 and I noticed the temperature on the LCD didnt match with the cpu temperature in ryzenmaster. The on on LCD always 10C to almost 20C higher than the one displayed in ryzenmaster
Ryzen master will tell lower temps than literally anything
Laughed prettty hard at the CPU Status mode at 4:55. Perfect to show my OC of 0.0 GHz xD
Compared to the claims that aurous makes the practical PC's you can get won't likely be much higher
What is better this liquid cooler or icue h115i elite capellix liquid cooler?
The new aorus waterforce x series
H115i ellite capellix
@@mainly_dyutish9 what 😂
Can you compare 280mm to nzxt kraken z63, which one is better cooling
I have this aio and I loved the screen and the software worked, I came from the ASUS Ryujin and hated the software, it didnt even work. But I slapped some noctuas and I dont really change any settings, I like it. I wouldnt buy it if I was going budget at all. But since 95 percent of my build is aorus it fine for me.
I have ROG, msi, corsair and now i will have even the gigabyte program for controlling rgb… im fivehead really.. XD
Please review the new aio cooler from aorus waterforce x240, x280, x360
well i just watched it and i was surprised how bad the experience was for an aio its really over priced you can get a corsair ICUE H150I PRO XT RGB PERFORMANCE LIQUID COOLER - 360MM for £155 on overclockers which i think would blow any of theses coolers out of the water i will say good try aorus but go back to making motherboards
Yeah :/ Aorus tried to jump the gun and "break the ice" , they should've done more research
@@thunderturbine8860 i agree they should of
Corsair AIO's are kinda pricey too but usually performs really well. They have the same issue as most other RGB devices though. Garbage software and also, proprietary connectors. I gave my H115i RGB Pro to my girlfriend. It performed really good for a 280mm AIO but the clonky micro usb to internal usb 2.0 cable to control the lighting is annoying and in the way. It's non-RGB fans and a small non-addressable RGB strip on the cpu block. My Corsair mouse have been acting weird after i updated it to the latest "stable" version and the LL120 fans, albeit very nice looking, came with proprietary connectors and 2 pieces of hardware to control them through iCue. Ended up selling them
5 day old comment on a barely day old video.... what sort of black magic is this??
got any update? i'm seeing the items are aggressively priced low now.
Its the rgb fusion that absolutely killed it
are these problems specifically with the 280 version? (alignment)
yeah, please answer
Are any of this type of cooler worth it if you are not overclocking? I'm mostly using CAD and 3d modeling.
No, the CPU is important but the GPU is more important to run CAD, don't bother with AIO, what CPU and GPU you running ?
@@Sidowse They are not worse the best air coolers in the market start losing to AIOs with radiators 280mm up. Gamer's Nexus has done long term testing and have AIOs in use over 5 years. It makes sense since most AIOs are produced from only 2 companies and those companies have contracts for use in servers and for other long term business applications. Both Air coolers and water coolers have their advantages and disadvantages.
The custom image feature is awesome only thing I don't like are the fans can only connect to the aio not argb or 4 pin rgb
ho un problema perche a me il software negli rpm e semre fermo a zero e non posso neanche modificarlo
Wanted to get the 240m , but after this video i will go with the new MSI AIO !
IF you aren't bothered about RGB then the Arctic Liquid Freezer II AIO's are the best on the market - the EK360 is the only AIO that can beat the Artic 280 in cooling performance, and the EK is about £150 and the Artic 280 is about £95. Basically those are the two best on the market - and both significantly cheaper than this Aorus mess.
@@malphadour yes i really wanted to buy the arctic liquid freezer ii 240...but the radiator is large for My mATX case ( Corsair 280x ) 😭 does EK have 240 mm version ?
The reason this AIO Liquid Cooling exist is because ASUS make ROG Ryujin AIO.
even "AORUS" itself inspired by ROG, before that Gigabyte usually didn't brand their product, just a generic name like "Gigabyte X99-UD5"
I have Aorus 360 AIO and I dont have a single issue with it.
fitment is perfect
cable management will hide all these cable
and as u said, all RGB softwares are terrible and RGB Fusion is just fine
The display is unique and I would recommend Aorus AIO over and over
Put the fans on the other side of the radiator when your trynna flip works like a charm was able to do push or pull configuration in my nzxt h510i case
Wish I would have watched this first. I can't even get an image at all on my screen. I've tried resetting, tried rotating, even reached out to tech support. No answer yet. The main difference is when I reset or rotate I get a white screen instead of black like yours. Frustrating! Only reason I got this one is to match the WiFi pro motherboard I just got from Aorus. Any suggestions on how to get the screen to work?
You need to power the cooler with 5 sata pin psu check your power supply I think its the old 4 pin sata cable if its try to change it to a psu that has a 5 pin sata
@@i3do I probably should have changed this, I did switch to a 5 pin and it worked fine after that. Weirdly enough though, after weeks of describing this to Aorus tech support. Even suggesting to them that I may need a 5 pin, they kept telling me to just have it replaced. My buddy and I figured it out by watching install videos on youtube and noticing everyone was using a 5 pin. Thanks for looking out though DarkWolves.
Here is a thought how About you design one and make it perfect 👍
i love the hardware. Im getting great results with the 240 aio. but the software is unstable and totally WANK!
2 programs, who cares. 10 minutes to rotate a screen you’ll only do once, who cares. Lots of cables? Run them behind the board. Fans are loud? It’s not even in a case. Performance is good, looks good. $199 on Newegg. Should be a good review.
If you really want to cook a CPU run prime95 small FFT
the 240 is $160 on amazon rn
nice deal
This RGB thing is kinda cool, but ain't nobody every going to make me give up my beige and brown fans.
do an aio comparison brother !
It looks like as if my GCSE engineering class made the fans
Thanks for pointing out that fan shaping issue, no other reviews I have watched has mentioned that and it is a deal breaker for me. The other issues like the cables you will get with all aio's unfortunately. I think the Lian Li are about the most discreet when it comes to wiring. Thanks again cobba and great video keep it up. Sub+1
I bought this POS and had the exact issue with the fans...when I contacted support they told me you can only use one fan configuration....when I pointed out that every other AIO on the market has multiple orientations they said "sorry"
Nzxt's cam software is brilliant!
You should do a comparison against noctua nhd15 and some other AIOs including the EKWB AIO to really evaluate it's performance.
Got this aio since August 2020. Trust me it gets way worse when you are using a Ryzen. Misreading temps, stuck on 00 Celsius for no reason no matter how many resets you do (at least 3 mins to reset image on nvme evo 970), it gets the image wrong again, then shows the cpu model with some odd chineese like letters. In other words it sucks. If you want a screen move on to an nzxt kraken aio. This one is just aint worth it.
Same
What's the link to your discord
Damn those fans alone are reason enough to steer clear from this trashfire of an AIO.
When compared to the new Fractal AIO's, Gigabyte really missed the mark.
Got a 280mm new on Amazon for $150. Guess the price didn’t hold
Hopefully they can improve next time
A clear bias review there's actually nothing wrong with those, ofc all softwares aint perfect just like the other brands (I came from ryujin but found aorus's better in my case), cables and softwares are just common sense lol. Bought the 360 and its been really good to the point i'll do an upgrade for the new waterforce x 🤟
I have the 360mm version as well. No problems here! Love it!
no offense but you screwed up big time too
you changed the default settings from balance to quiet
balance is not that good but at least is better than quiet
why didn't you crank up the cooler fans and pump to max
that way it can dissipate the heat much faster
i had run a few test between balance vs max and there is a few degrees difference
enough to be significant
you were too busy bashing the product and the software that most likely you forgot to download and apply the new firmware
I owned the 360 variant of this cooler, worst software and fans EVER! I have used other software for RGB etc. with other AIO's and being honest this was one of the worst ones out there. Constant freezing up and corrupt display, was always having to reset the screen or restart my PC. The 2 softwares from Gigabyte that you must use for this cooler are just awful at best, very clunky and resource intensive... even running my Ryzen 3800X saw constant 1% usage in Task Manager with this software installed. He's also right about the frame for the fans, like WTF Gigabyte? Customer service was also ZERO help at all. I would highly recommend staying as far away from this one as you can! Way overpriced it does perform ok but not enough for the cost and the software just killed it for me. Sold it and grabbed a Corsair RGB PRO XT 360, iCue is light years ahead of Gigabytes software. Don't make the same mistake I did, buy something else PLEASE lol
6:36 LMFAO bruhahaha what a genius idea XD
Dang! Was about to buy this thing! Will just go Corsair. Thanks for the review.
anyone recommend a aio?
Yes me
I got the 240mm version and I completely regret it, this is a total pain in the ass. Aorus Engine is god awful and makes RGB fusion seem like heaven. Constantly the screen display will stop working, freeze, stop displaying cpu stats, and just broke completely on a few occasions and made me go through a load of trouble just to fix it. This is my first computer build and I wanted to get something cool looking that had practical function. My choices were either Aorus or NZXT and at the time it was cheaper to get the Aorus cooler. Fuck me I shouldve ditched the idea of being able to see how hot my cpu was and just went with some corsair cooler.
My Aorus 360mm will be moving Out and a NZXT will come in ... The the cooler Looks cool and would be great If Gigabytes fucking Software would work
The new version has solved all of those issues. If you're looking into the waterforce 360, this video is not an accurate representation.
What makes this AIO worse (I own it btw)
Is that you can see when starting up your PC and with some of the presets
That The AIO Can play GIFs
Simple ones like a rotating color
OR THE COMPLEX ONE OF THE START UP
but there is no possible way to set the AIO up with a Gif
Im glad that i know All these things when im just going for it rn… xdd
@@kellnyq459 it's a good aio but just sad that there is no GIF function
@@notsosolidsnakeproductions3596 for me everything is working right, BUT i cant controll rgb on fans and idk why...
Then you see the Arctic Liquid Freezer II with one cable....
What are you saying. RGB software that’s crap ! Never heard of such a thing!
NZAT: hold my beer 🍺
It still dosent beat the nzxt z63 and z73 aio as they both have better amoled panel that can be changed
And has faster time
No mate honesty is always the best way to go, I'll admit I am honestly shocked by it i mean where to start.. cable's basic common sense, fans that are seated flat and can be reversed how can they fail so badly.
Heat goes up, heat needs to go out not in... so for once and all.
YOU DONT PLACE RADIATORS ON THE FRONT INTAKE IF YOU WANT PREFORMANCE!
always on top, heat goes up, Gpu doesnt like pre-heated air.
Just to explain the short cable distance ;)
in my country 360 mm is around 200 dollar
The 360mm in Newegg is for $219. Its not expensive.
Such a shame coz they look nice. I like the screen but quite a few design flaws.
You’re completely overreacting and not thinking the design elements through.
Agree on all points. My guess is they want to follow ASUS with their ROG product branding. Their pricing on these is rather ambitious.
I’ve had this cooler for about a year or so and honestly it’s amazing.... from my standpoint that I just found this video, it’s 6 months old and I owned it prior to this video.... imo you’re just complaining way too much. It’s an amazing cooler and Kees my pc so cool, cooler than any other cooler AIO I’ve tried.
Which other aios have you tried before?
Which aio you tried ?
my cooler master is so much better 240mm cost $120 Australia 31 to 37c on an oc 3600
The fan design is horrible and you can't even use a different fan with the AIO as it won't turn the fans on, no push/pull config.
But hey, atleast they don't hammer their io shield in
thats REALLY pricey the EK fluid gaming kit is allmost as expensive as the 360
Kraken X73/Z73 is better than 360mm AiO cooler from Aorus imo.
Omg this guys is like a child in bad mood. Stop whinning.
I own the 280mm version and I disagree 100% with you. The install was flawless and it looks and functions great. Sorry but I think you are very wrong here.
FINALLY SOMEONE TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS AWEFUL SOFTWARE
i just got the x360
6:30 it gets worse and worse smh.. the screen is not even that good i mean what tf is that 4:40 it's laggy af 😂🤦
It looks nice
This is a great aio, video is picking at straws. Also the new x variant fits AM5 and cools it nicely. If the fans are bothering you just replace them with the same brand as your case fans. I use Be Quiet Light Wings which work great.
thank you for saying 10 - 900, and not the number 10,900 for the processor name.
i am really disappointed with mine, guys dont ever never buy this
why?
Wow...Thanks Andy for this video! I was considering getting one of these for a new build but that's a hard NO! That rats nest of cables alone kills it for me, To be fair though all these companies need to come up with a solution for the cables on the AIO's. I think I've seen one that runs the cables inside the tubing sleeves up to the radiator where they can be managed and completely out of site, but I can't remember which one that was. And then those fans are a complete fail...Yes they can be replaced with something else, but then you are really adding to the cost of these things. No thank you Gigabyte.
Fusion is the most dismal software I've ever used.
Spot on Andy.
the lcd is the market in here aside from that it is a bad design
looks very much like radiator what lol, when you hear that, bad units maybe ? rgb fusion is so bad when you compare to icue ;D
if youre not putting your own fans on your aio then youre doing it wrong. everyone knows aio fans are cheap.
WOW, this guy has got sooo much wrong right out the gate!! 😂and I'm 4 mins in, I will keep watching to see what else he screws up what a Douch!😑.... ok the fans have changed because I have the 280 version and it has the fans pulling air in the front of my case sooo there's that, and yeah the whole two pieces of software thing is sort of true and not true because when you download Aorus engine there is a little led button down in the corner that will open the led/rgb fusion 2.0, so take of that what you will, the extra wires do suck though, I agree, but not as bad as he makes it sound! the guy makes it sound like it's the end of the world 😂that there is a extra wire! anyway I didn't plan on using the rgb in fusion anyway, because I use SignalRGB baby! its the best!! so if you plan on just plugging the ARGB into the motherboard then its not a big deal which MOST PEOPLE probably do because all the mobo rgb software sucks ass, so most people don't even use it , I know I don't , he could of mentioned that but no he apparently wants to rip Gigabyte a new asshole for whatever reason, so anyway I have had the 280 aio for about 6 months and it's working great sooo yeah, if you are thinking about getting it you should be fine, but it's up to you.
