Just heard news that the Traxler Mansion caught fire this morning 4/23. Total loss. So sad.
Great cinematography, loved this one. So sad to see an old home like this just rotting away.
I used to live around the corner from this gem back in the day. Just sad at the present condition.
I remember it in the 80’s still looking nice. I wanted to live there
I lived Dayton View in the early 1980's. Went to a New Years Eve party at this Mansion once. The attic was a Ballroom. Great party. Really nice place.
What a waste of a beautiful home
The house mysteriously burned to the ground when it was about to sold due to back taxes. This happens after the owners repeatedly refused to sell the house for over a decade. The timing of the fire is very suspicious.
Savages! No respect for history.
The mansion caught on fire yesterday & is a total loss.😢😢😢
It burned to the ground this morning. 4/23/2023, at 3am. It was set for Sheriff auction on May 4. It had no working utilities and is under investigation.
Been away from Dayton for well over 20 years but I watch videos and Home still comes to mind.
Sadly, the mansion caught fire and nearly burned to the ground (April 23, 2023) just days before it was to be auctioned off. It's a total loss.
it did get sold but like you said ita a total
I don't understand the reasoning behind Trashing this place!! What gives those that trespass the right to destroy property just for shits and giggles?!!! So much of the antiques and history just trashed..... 😕
This building burned in the early morning hours of April 23rd, 2023. The shell is about the only thing that remains as everything inside was a total loss.
And now, Preservation Dayton, Inc is asking for public donations to stabilize the mansion WHILE IT'S STILL OWNED BY THE PEOPLE WHO LET IT ROT!! Who also haven't paid property tax in over two years and are $36,000 behind on said property taxes. How about the owner either surrenders the property or gets a LOAN to stabilize it themselves?! SMH
R.I.P., pretty Lady 💔
Too late.
It burnt down today, 4-23-2023.
I’ve driven past this so many times I always wondered what it looked like inside
How on earth do these places get so trashed that you can’t step into any room? Who does this? Those that destroy places like that should be jailed.
squatters crackheads and homless people
Mysteriously down lastnight after being vacant for quiet some time. Sad.
Wow you have very pretty eyes
They tore one down many yrs back in Huber Hts it had a huge inground pool that stayed for many yrs after.
That house burnt down last weekend, sad
And now it has burnt down and is unsalvageable, an absolute beauty, lost.
What a shame! If Dayton Ohio wasn't a dangerous place to visit we would have bought this Gilded Age gem & restored her to her former glory. ❤️🙏
As long as you don't go downtown it's ok. It's nowhere near as dangerous as new orleans
Don't store up all your treasures on earth. So true.
It just burned to the ground. It’s gone. Bottom floor and chimneys are all that’s left.
I live in the Dayton area. Can you tell me where in Dayton? There's a few areas I could guess, but curious to know. The way this has been trashed is inexcusable to me. There was a time Dayton Ohio had many world wide businesses. Just the HQs now, all industry in China, etc. Thanks for posting this channel, interesting.
Yale Ave. off of Salem.
Down Salem, off Yale
Is it still there
@@fendermustang6537 It just burnt down
What a beautiful place this must have been. I wish I could see pictures of it before it was trashed! Before I saw the comment about the fire, I was thinking that structurally it didn’t look too bad and thought some historical society might be able to salvage it, of course it’s hard to tell. With the all the wood and the stair case, it was one that definitely been worth it. I’m always sad to see our history being left to just crumble and rot…but to find out it’s been burnt it’s even sadder somehow.
Still Beautiful to me. Thank you 😮
The laundry and the walk in freezer would typically be in the basement.
I wonder why did the last owners abandoned it, instead of selling it ugh! Such a beautifully crafted antique home.
Depending on the homesteading rules in Ohio, you may be able to buy or claim it by paying taxes on it (back taxes and future) since the family has stopped. You'd have to check with local and state laws on how to do that.
Burned down today, 4-23-2023.
Burnt to the ground last night...
Hey, I know of an abandoned mansion with everything left behind near Cleveland, would you be interested in the location? If you are, is there somewhere other than here that I could tell you because I don't want to give out the location of it.
@@RuinRoad Ok, I emailed you.
Latayna Ellicott, born an raised in dayton ohio like the abandoned buildings, also the millionaires mansion youtube.😮 Have a wonderful morning pretty cool,i would redo them or how every its done with the city of dayton.😮
So damn sad.
they have so many big and beautiful ran down houses in dayton
i got arrested here lol, still have my footage
if kids worked i doubt they would want their stuff trashed. this is sad, and the city lets it rot. total mismanagement,
UPDATE - this house is FINALLY going to Sherriff's auction for back taxes next month - starting bid will be just under 39K. I hope someone that cares and can afford it can buy and save it! Finally some hope!
Sad update, it burned down 😢
@@mickeyrob7532 I live about 2 miles from it. Very sad.
this is cool but sad so neglected, imagine it at its prime... or restored
It was on Yale off of Salem Ave., not a good area. There are plenty of old nice houses that are dumps based upon location.
And now it’s gone 💔
(UPDATE) I see no one has followed up on this place in a while. Last weekend it burned down right before it was auctioned off. Drove there 3 days prior to take pictures and after I heard the news I went there myself and there’s only half of the building left.
(42 Yale avenue)
So sad
Now it’s burnt down
The last owner on record allowed this mansion to fall into ruin.
Whats the address so I can purchase this home can someone please send me the address and link
It's on the west side ..Yale ave of Salem...very very bad area.....drug and crime infested.
Intersection of Broadway and Yale.
@@garyhighley9022 you've never driven up east Third street have you?
@@rickfletcher4907 I live on e third st LMAO 🤣
Its burned down now 😢
Should have went in the garage there’s a jaguar with blood in it in there..
Did Hawthorne heights film Ohio is for lovers here? Lol
What a waste
Why is the house ransacked? I know that people use to live there and everything, but there's no way they had so much stuff in the house that every floor could be covered like that. Were outside people using the house to dump garbage or something?
It's bizarre. Someone had to load all that trash in. Every room, every floor, pile it high. The place could have been renovated with less effort.
This appears people stayed in here as squatters.. probably got the most of the structure even without water/ heat. Then just left for another spot or even die if they are poor/on drugs/ homeless thus leaving all that junk in there.
Looks like they had chips.
Doubless, lowlifes burned it down for kicks!
Who owns this currently?
Also what would property tax payments be on this?
The taxes were about $10,000 per year. The owners didn't bother paying them. By the time of the 2023 Sheriff's auction, the owners were $38,000 behind on their tax bill. That's when the house burned down.
This house will sadly fall further into disrepair. It is in a high crime and drug use part of town on Salem Ave in West Dayton. Nobody who could afford to buy this house and pay off the taxes and repair this house would want to live here. For the amount this would cost, you could get a decent size house in a nice part of town with good schools and way less crime.
So in America, does it mean to have a building on a register? From the look of the place, perhaps it should have been declared a national park? They look after those, with a staff of rangers. No respect is placed in the registration, and neglect is allowed to demolish the place.
To be a "national park", a property must belong to the government. This property didn't. It belonged to a married couple who couldn't afford to repair the property or even pay their property tax. They just paid enough of the tax to keep it from being sold at the sheriff's auction.
@@howardalderman2228 Thank you for clarifying the situation, you are clearly better informed than me. Cheers.
I think this house just burned down recently
m
Smart people do not live in West Dayton.
