TxDOT's Heaviest Load

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 22 лют 2010
  • Crawling along at 10 miles per day, TxDOT recently oversaw the transport of a mammoth 1.7 million pound Toshiba steam turbine engine. A custom rig with 520 tires transported the generator, measuring in at 39 feet wide, 18 feet high, and as long as a football field. This is the heaviest load that has ever been moved this distance in Texas!

    This. Especially when theres America full of welding shops who manufacture this size of steam turbines. There's 7 companies in 10-minute drive from where I live who does 1.7 million pound -sized steam turbine engines.

    The ship yard I worked for moved a ship weighting over 24,000 tons a short distance over dry land on a rail system
    ;
    1. In the video the bridge you crossed what was the load weight of the bridge? I saw you beefed up the roadway over the bridge what was the total weight per wheel on the rig you used?
    2. How long did it take for the total distance?
    3. What was the total cost of the move everything included?
    Thanks you for a very good educational video

      Completely agree, and he wasn't the only one. I'd say project management at this company could use an overhaul, with a focus on Safety. It's possible to be Hard Core without being completely stupid. Even in 2010 it would have been absolutely feasible to mount cameras to monitor wheels at close quarters where necessary. But what do I know, I am just a candy-assed Brit.

    well..1.7 million pounds (850 ton?) is b.s..also it's not a turbine engine but the generator stator.
    who ever was the shipping company made a nice expensive show for nothing..all those trailers and the fixture for the actual stator were unnecessary. maybe only if the bridge could not take it and they had to distribute the weight with maximum amount of wheels on the ground.

    It makes me wonder why people today are not as smart & advanced as the earth's previous humanity was; they were able to move much heavier loads than we can do today. Why could not they just had the steam turbine built & assembled at the Waco power plant?
    In old days large steam generators were built under cathedrals where a thermal vent was to use for steam so that the cathodrils would have heat & free energy, and more free electricity was generated by ionization from the spires by resonance.

I'll be serious now - any time somebody sell something - they earned that, because they gave the best offer out there.

I might need to be built in a controlled environment, exact specs and they have all of that in one place. It's easier and cheaper to do it this way. These things aren't bought every year.
