They expected this release to flop because it was the wrong members Belift and Hybe selected or Korean voters went for Wonhee. They even said stupid things like ILLIT is not a global group like NewJeans.
After this release it was the perfect balance of the group. Their voices blend well together and nobody cares about their rookie years being rough on the edges for live vocals. There is no rule that say rookie groups have to nail encore. It was only made up by traditionalists from 2nd gen era. Toxic fans.
If they can deliver recording in the studio that's what all counts for Bang, Hybe and the audience. Live vocals will come later when they start to have live concerts. Very few nail encore in their rookie years. Not even BTS had a good encore in music shows.
I like them. They remind me of 2nd gen Girl group KARA. They were not like Mew Jeans and more like Kara when Kara went from 4 members to 5 members.

My World was produced by Albin Tengblad who has worked with Oh My Girl. This was a bit different because it has cool elements that K-pop scene has lacked for many years because I don't consider girl crush anything cool. It's a bitchy attitude I have seen being done so many times in K-pop with noisy music. I'm one of the few who didn't like Blackpink.
There is Charlie & The Chocolate Factory reference in the lyrics for Lucky Girl Syndrome.
Members had creative input on Midnight Fiction even if they didn't wrote vocal lines because minors don't do that with debut release. They told the songwriters about what they dream about and the songwriters added that to the lyrics. It seems with next release Yunah and Minju have turned 20 and can write vocal lines. Moka turns 20 in Oct. The other remains minors. Wonhee will turn 17 and Iroha will turn 16 this year.
All five have good vocals for solo works based on the survival show.
