NewJeans is one of the groups that gets me really moving everytime their songs are played. 1 year 6 months old debuted group made history by performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago and fastest KPOP to reach billion stream in Spotify. Cookie has a double meaning (or triple meaning) here. For Western listeners, it’s a sexual reference. However, in the K-Pop industry in Korea, baking a cookie means to produce a CD. It can also just mean make a cookie, which is likely how the youngest listeners in Korea hear it.

Ylva is the songwriter from whom ADOR purchased via a publisher in Sweden called The Kennel, the others are the ADOR staff that translated and arranged the song and composition. This is how much of the industry works. The meaning of the song is sexual. Koreans can pretend that isn’t true if they want.

There was a cultural barrier for the song "Cookie", it actually meant making a CD (album). If you get a taste of their music, you get addicted to it. Hence, the cookie turning into a cd in the MV.
Why would they say "boy" they know their audience isn't made of only one gender. I think we all know what it's about.
@@Kennykenz2977 Just basing it from info I got from my Korean friends and students. They did say that since they are a girl group, it would be more appropriate for them to say “boy” rather than “girl”. It’s possible too that the producers intended for the song to have a double meaning. But since the song is in their native language and used native expressions, I think they meant for it to be more about their music rather than what foreigners might interpret it to.

You have to be purposefully dense to assume it isn't meant to be an innuendo. I love NewJeans so much but it's really irresponsible for us as fans to deny that the company was irresponsible in letting a song like this release while sang by minors.
@@emmy4543 not being dense. As I said in my reply to Kennykenz, that it probably was intentional for the producers to make the song have a double meaning. I was just stating what my Korean students and friends explained as to what the MV interpretted in relation to their native language slang.

Here, 'cookie' refers to a CD. I debuted as a minor, so there wouldn't be any explicit sexual expressions.

Good amount of kpop idols and koreans in general are OBSESSED with this song so I really think good amount of literal meaning got lost in the translations.
