For your question regarding the amount of willpower Kevin needed to take the Vaulderie : A godly amount. The tremere's blood bond and blood bonds in general truely link a kindred to an other. For the Tremere as they stated, the childe has his mind constantly gaslighted by deformed thoughts that constantly push him to even more servitude. When the sire says "Jump", you jump until he says stop and he is satisfied. Even if it's about jumping off a roof.
Which means that when Kevin took the Vaulderie, he had to pull through insane amount of negative emotion. His own mind telling him to love his sire, to never betray him, that he actually truely love his sire and that he is loved back even though he pretty much got abandonned, but even then his abandonnement was his fault really, after all he displeased the prince with his warnings, which were rights, but that's not the sire and the prince wanted to hear so Kevin has every right to feel gullible and guilty of his fate and as such he should not take the vaulderie and just go ba... And then he takes the Vaulderie through pure sheer willpower and shatter this mental shackles that were giving him all those thoughts. Replacing it with just a slight tolerance for his new pack. And even then a slight tolerance only, which can vanish with time, opening up to such thing such as the monomacie where Sabbats members diablerize each other.
I think Kevin's broader point was that, even without the Tremere blood bond, unbonded vampires generally wouldn't want to replace one blood bond for another. You might hate Bob's guts, and as a Sabbat, you tend to be more individualistic and self-centered. So you don't _want_ to feel loyal to the pack or Bob.
Pyotr also didn't like his pack well enough that he didn't just immediately betray and diablerie them when the opportunity presented itself. For a guy like that, taking this group love potion isn't a pleasant prospect.
I'm guessing focusing on their illogical aspects as an accountant helped

Not all vampires are bloodthirsty egomaniacs, VtM is a game about trying to remain as human as you can after being unwillingly brought into a world of intrigue and murder, Kevin exemplifies this
Also, is kind of interesting the contrast between D and Door, when shitbeard showed some humanity, regretting no longer being able to enjoy simple pleasures of life, door was dismissive and remained aggressive, seeing him as nothing more than a monster. Meanwhile, when Kevin showed vulnerability, D saw that, all and all, he was still hanging on to whatever he could of his humanity, so he offered forgiveness and a chance to become a part of his "crusade"

simplified answer: Clan Lasombra have this scthick about shadows. teleporting through shadows, living shadow monsters, shadow limbs, shadow TENTACLES even. Obtenebration...imagine that concept of everything shadow related as a power specifically aimed at YOU with malicious intent. and th fact it was a Methuselah, basically 4th or 5th generation, it had at least 1000yrs on them and was OBSCENELY powerful. yeah, the older the generation, the higher the chance they actually posed as gods to old primitive civs for the giggles.
Makes you think how powerful the 2nd generation was, and how many third generation vampires it took to take them down.
@@themalcontent100 I'd have to find a copy of it again to corroborate this, the Book of Nod went into it. There were only 5 members of the 2nd generation and they didn't do it in one night, it took multiple nights of all 13 members of the antediluvians constantly fighting one just to take it down. When Cainne found out what happened what they did,he cursed all 13 of the antediluvians with the weaknesses their childer still bear into the modern nights.
@@themalcontent100 There's no solid canon for what happened back then,some say they died due to some of the 3rd generation ganging up on them one at a time coupled with the Baali summoning an archdemon in the middle of the Second City, some say that the Second Generation faked their deaths or had grander plans like the 3rd generation would later do (which makes the most sense to me given that things like detecting Obfuscate only works when your Auspex is equal to or greater than it, and since the 2nd are a lower generation they can raise their stats higher), it's left up to whomever is the Storyteller to decide each game. No matter what though, there is one 2nd generation vampire confirmed to still be undead: The Crone; and she plays a part in Gehenna.
Most methuselah are like many times over a thousand, it's common for them to have been around during the bronze age if not older.

If they actually play that, you have no idea how much power Kevin has in his arsenal. The Fera are not a joke, they are terrifying- The Werewolves, The Garou, are just ONE of the Fera.

8:38- Shadow manipulation, as well as some things related to the very concept of darkness. Like, if some sweeps over you, and you somehow survive, colors won't look as bright for a few weeks/months, life won't feel as good/worth living for a similar length of time, things like that.

Of all things, I honestly did not expect this level of sincerity and sympathy from big D this audiolog, very pleasant surprise!
Theory: Kevin is this series' version of the Emperor's best friend.
Something that didn't hit me until just now. Big D could be one of the few(think very low double digits) of the original 10,000 exalted who didn't fall to corruption. Basically he's one of the 10,000 immortals that showed up during the late-neolithic period or early- bronze age who were given reality warping powers to fight the supernatural, and he's kept himself from being corrupted by the power and becoming a monster.
It takes a lot of willpower to even think of rebelling for a Tremere, I forget the game mechanics exactly, but i might post it in reply later.
obtenebration is manipulating shadows. basically a combo of moria from one piece, and the shade from DC comics.
Or a mage with the lore of shadow from warhammer aos and fantasy/old world.
The Vinculum is designed SPECIFICALLY to break other blood bonds. But yeah, the willpower needed to WANT to break a normal blood bond - especially a Tremere blood bond which are up there among the strongest I believe -is more than most can manage.
Also this audiolong reminds me of The Last Church.

Big-D is Voice Acted by Speaker-D & The Great And Mightly Kevin is Voice Acted by Earndil who do Play together on Narrative Declaration & Speaker is typically the Loud, Insane, Energetic Guy that actually is pretty Intelligent (At least for Tannhauser in Rotgrind), Earndil is the Calm & Collected, Intellectual who can easily Match or Outmatch Speaker's Insane Bravado with just as much Crazy Fervor but just chooses to be the Voice of Reason

I heard from another reaction channel, one where the host is apparently VERY familiar with World of Darkness and Hunter the Reckoning, that apparently the baddest groups of Hunters actually have Vampires on their teams that they have won over. I can't verify this, I've never played these tabletops and pen-and-paper games, just thought it might be worth mentioning.
Judges, martyrs and innocents have managed to sway, or even coerce vampires, wraiths, wyrm-tainted members of the changing breeds, marauders, nephandi and low-ranking demons into working with them through the various use of their edges. Needless to say that those hunter teams didn't have a hermit or wayward with them.
EP 3 is less than 20 min even if you wait for THE post credit thing! Plz dont split it PLZ!!!
yeah the splitting is starting to seem a little unnecessary, the audio-logs are longer but three episodes seems a bit much

2:19- The Vaulderie is like a blood bond, but is more of a collective one forming what is dubbed the Vinculum, in which all participants typically are blood bound to one another and yes, it can override older blood bonds. Other method: be isolated from the source of your bond and legit go cold turkey. How much would the Sabbat hate each other without it? It's not a good day in the Sabbat without three minor civil wars and a heresy cropping up, and that's WITH the Vaulderie. And how much willpower? I think the difficulty for Willpower checks is... 8? Minimum? And with multiple successes? I think? I've been... careful... around glasses of untended blood...
6:22- Methuselahs are... no joke... they're usually around 4th and 5th gen and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD. The vast majority of them are... GREATLY disconnected from the mortal world, getting bored and not caring about keeping up with trends and whatnot aside from what their loyal ghouls tell them. That said, there are SOME, like... prolly easy to count on one or two hands that aren't grafted onto your body... that do their best to keep up with mortal society. They don't do it perfectly, but gosh darn it they try and that's what matters the ancient dearies. Their power levels are no jokes, however. Best time to kill them: Noon, because even if they can't see the sun, it being up makes vampires lethargic.
8:20- Clan Lasombra are one of the Big 13 Clans and one of the two that form the core of the Sabbat. They are often described as "social darwinists" and do love their trials of worthiness. They can punch hard, manipulate minds, and drown you in your own shadow... or theirs... while also doing... things... with shadow tentacles, and, as I have stated in previous vids: vampires are still individuals so... you CAN find a rogue Lasombra who didn't join the Sabbat. They're not gonna announce their presence because a: people in the Camarilla or Anarchs would be sus of them AT BEST, and b: their cousins in the main bulk of the Clan will hunt them down like a Dark Angel hunts down a Fallen, but with a bit of healthy respect if the renegade lives.
10:00- Yeah... ain't no way anyone is killing Caine... and Lilith is trying, bless her dark heart.
12:50- Kinda hard since most of the 3rd gen are sleeping or dead... or... whatever the hell the Eldest Tzimisce is... and that would be a god damn challenge even for Big D because that... THING... can't even be properly classified as a vampire...
14:32- You're not wrong, but sometimes Hunters do work with vampires. Not all Hunters are blind, zealous, foes of the darkness (who also tend to have a life expectancy of a fly, plus sometimes the more human (and humane) vampires may register a threat within their own ranks and paint a bull's eye on them in order to preserve the peace, as it were... or take out someone in the way of a promotion.
17:47- And here we get to the heart of Kevin: who he was and still is somewhere inside that undying shell of a body. Many Sabbat vampires attribute who that person was as someone they aren't now, typically referring to them as "weak and flawed" and would do anything to cast that aside. Many older vampires remember their mortal times as well, but become jaded due to the many friends they made in life and death who passed on, choosing to go numb instead of feeling the loss over and over again. This is the tale of someone who lived and dreamed as a human, taken from his mortal life to fill a role against his will, a role he did and was rebuked because it didn't fit the way the powers-that-be viewed things. Your average Hunter only sees a vampire as they are now, not as... this, nor do they care for they believe a vampire is a soulless monster upon rising, never really WANTING to know more than they already believe because they don't want to experience doubt in their cause. Hell, those that still work for the Church have had to purge their ranks MULTIPLE TIMES when a group with compassion crops up because... well... *points to the now-dust covered Big Red Button*
21:32- This is... sadly... the logical end many end up at, the depression of being unchanging in a changing world or... feeling as though all you wanted out of life is now no longer within your grasp... and this is the moment that Alfa made me feel sorry for a vampire from a Clan I NEVER pick because, and I say this with a lot of passion... F the Tremere... but... damn do I want to give Kevin hugs... in at least ten layers of padding to not get bit.

24:11- And that right there sums up most vampire/hunter alliances, and yes: the ending was very much a kick in the balls BUT... I am optimistic. REASON: Kevin knows things about the inner workings of the Tremere Chantry he was "recruited" into. He knows stuff that they'd probably want covered up but... because he was practically persona non grata to the Chantry and he jumped ship to the Sabbat... they probably think him dead... and the thing with vampires is... if no one saw the death... plus Big D doesn't seem as callous as Door.
If you survived this long through my wall of text... I applaud you.

He is not only a well-trained Tremere of the ninth generation, but he might also know some way to defeat her and her little toadie. he was their progeny and book-keeper for a time. moreover, who's to say Kevin won't have firearm training by the time the battle commences and there might just be extra hunters joining their ranks by then.
Obtenebration is the Lasombra Clan Discipline that allows them to manipulate shadows and darkness. Each major clan have their own special discipline that only they or their bloodlines can use.
The second generation are supposedly all dead but Gehenna the final book in the original Vamp line suggests others may exist.
Were cats exist and have many tribes even lions. There are also Werehyenas, Lizards, Sharks, Ravens, Bears and more. In the past there were other were creatures who are extinct
The willpower is required is probably equivalent to cutting off your own hand to escape a trap.

Obtenebration: even to the Clan Lasombra who claimed sole ownership of it, this discipline is quite mysterious in many ways... while they have mastered its uses and conviniences (block sound and light from and area, attack enemies and consume their blood, hell it can even block sunlight to a point), even the elders and master of clan Lasombra do not quite rightfully understand quite what that shadow stuff is. Carefull observer can sometime notice strange spasm and twitching of the shadow or even some random power activating without the user consent (very rare). Its as if that shadow stuff wasnt quite an extension of the user's will or body... but more like that shadow stuff is to a point using the vampire's body as a window or a portal from... its side or wheretever "it" come from.
Methuselath (generation 4th and 5th) are the oldest and the most dangerous vampire active in modern that most campain has any chance to ever met (nevermind fight). That guy Big D his family fought could and probably did spawn an immense shadow over the area (dozens of square kilometer if he so desire) where the figh happened so he could keep fighting in broad daylight without too much problem. For comparison: when the Ravnos anti-deluvian awoke and fought in recent years (kuei-jin neighbor were refuse to turn down their rock&roll music for month), he conjured a hurricane that lasted 3 days and covered the entire section of the earth where the fight was happening so they could keep fighting during daytime (Bangladesh and a part of India i think). Afterward, he magically sucked the blood of his children from across THE ENTIRE WORLD to keep feeding and healing him. So generation 4th and 5th can probably produce some insane crap at least on a continent level (one of the dominate power do have that kind of scale).
A counter-point to big D wanting to erase the vampire curse from the surface of the earth... well... *cough bloodangel *cough... so you know... he might at some point believe that he do need monsters on humanity's side to rise against others monster hiding in the dark...
About kevin embrace... he was right, his sire was indeed stupid. The better option would have been to make a ghoul out of him and then get updated knowledge about how the modern world fonctionned, if hes really good: groom as a possible recruit. Otherwise his mind can be wipe easely and a better candidate looked for. In the Camarilla, you dont embrace people on a whim into eternity without being really really stupidly sure he's an actual asset to you and the clan (and the tremere are among the far more carefull one at this, nevermind a 7-8th generation wich should have lived for hundreds of years by this point).
As for his escaped... I think the only reason he could flee to the sabbat is because his sire and the regent choose to abbandon him. Otherwise, Thaumathurge of their degree ans standing could EASELY locate him and even destroy/curse him from afar if he represented any degree of danger to the clan (note that he never once use any visible use of thaumathurgy when in any stuation and rather used dominate to pin down the group in the cave). Otherwise, only with his strenght of will versus his weakness to blood bond... it would have taken month of strugling just not to rush to his sire's side to beg for forgiveness and wait for the blood bond to naturally weaken overtime. In game mechanic term, a full blood bond take 3 taste of the blood of a vampire of lower generation than yours, once a month 3 month in a row. Each feeding bring a blood bond onto a stronger stage (from 1 to 3) but can be resisted is chosen. First stage bring a strong sense of admiration, second mean loyalty to a point and 3 to almost complete surbvurviance. Each month the lich isnt fed blood from his bondmate, a test of willpower can be tried to weaken the bond to a weaker stage... but even a lvl 0 bloodbond keep faint traces of past feeling. Its a stain that never completely goes away. Also a blood bond on human goes straight to lvl 3 on the first try and individual cappable to resist it are beyond rare.
I mean, it doesn't matter with Ghoul or Vampirism. They ddin't want to listen to the facts of the minutae and details needed for the modern world.

Apparently the next audiolog is releasing on the third, and its going to be over an hour, about big D speaking to the police.
Mages generally probably wouldn’t be able to take certain levels of incredibly powerful beings, even though their powers are basically reality-warping. They aren’t especially numerous to begin with, and obtaining the Archmastery needed to REALLY just remake the world is even rarer. Magic is crazy.
And trying to remake the world would probably be quite the dangerous spell for a mage to attempt
@@jacthing1 Due to Paradox, which is essentially reality itself biting back if the spell attempted is extremely powerful, and the Mage's Willpower not being equal to it.
A vampire under the thrall of a blood bond will simultaneously love and hate the one they're blood bonded to. They will seek to find a way to ensure the blood bond is not reinforced, but at the same time a blood bond is addictive. They cannot bring themselves to active harm the one who've blood bonded them, nor indirectly harm the on who blood bonded them by bringing or directing their master's enemies to their master, nor can they sit idly by if their master is being attacked. A blood bond only lasts a year and a day if it is not reinforced. How a blood bond works is a vampire has to drink from someone three consecutive nights in a row, which is why when a vampire hunts they rarely drink from the same person more than 2 nights in a row, that is why well-to-do vampires keep and maintain a herd.
We also found out that at some point D was marries to someone called Big Dean. It is yet to be known if Boy is Doors genetic son or adopted one or if Door and Marcus are genetic or adopted sons.

I'm learning from comments, but methuselah was a term I recognized. It is consistently used in the context of old entities. Very old ones. And Vampires can become far stronger with age.

I really hope Big D is sincere in offering the position of "Malcom" to Kevin. It is a cruel thing to offer falsely after already getting a fair bit of info and leverage.
Commenters have mentioned cat people, one tribe of which is connected to Bast, which for me raises the question of whether they have cousins tied to Sekhmet.
If vampire and human society could undergo radical shifts, they could form a mutual bond. Vampires are powerful, but they rely on humanity. If they bought blood in exchange for their mysterious might, both could prosper. Big E would never, but Bid D? I don't know, and that is rather exciting. He could actually see a future of cohabitation with the other, the supernatural. He could potentially be not a bigot, unlike his source and His source.

remember how kevin described the way it felt to be blood bonded? where there should be hate there is love, where there should be disgust there is adoration. trying to go through the vaulderie/vinculum would be like a loving/adoring/doting/monogamous man trying to convince himself to cheat on the wife he adores and dotes on so dearly.
you would feel guilt for trying to even think of cheating on your wife; you would hate yourself for even suggesting the idea of doing something so cruel to her. it goes against every instinct and moral you have, and you just feel gross.
now imagine that bond, but magically enforced with constant internal gaslighting. loving the one you are bloodbound to actually makes you feel good.

Listening to this, and reading the comments, I feel like everyone is trying to treat this like a Copyright Friendly way to continue the TTS series. which is Very unfair. The characters are Expies true, but Constantly comparing this to TTS kind of Cheapens the whole thing, and makes you read into things either too much or through a TTS tinted Lense, rather than thinking about it within its own context.
Like Big D HAS to be a GOD because he's the EMPERER! Except he's not. He's an Expy. They are Based on the characters yes, but they aren't the same characters.
