Feefo: "coming into this project i didn't know what to expect from Cudi. this sounded like the old Cudi i've been missing, his humming bumps in the whip"
I agree with myke wholeheartedly here. This album feels like a natural progression of Cudi’s sound and just so happens to bear the moniker of a man on the moon project. He’s definitely been influenced by working with other artists such as Travis Scott but he’s absorbed what he’s learned and filtered it through with his own spin on it. Also have to consider what he’s been through over the past few years, with rehab, and issues with other artists. he’s coming to terms with the fact that his struggle with depression is never over and done with on this album, but he is in a better place mentally than he was in 2010 with the last man on the moon project. Honestly might be my favorite cudi project to date.
@@kjk607 I didn't really sound like they knew what to talk about. Like it sounded like they didn't even listen to it to really make a coherent review. Mike is the only one that can actually form full arguments lol

Myke is on point. This album is amazing. This album is just Kid Cudi with a better flow, more updated beats, and it feels forced because people expect all his production to sound like he did 10 years ago. This album is top ten of the year.

*sigh* Ok yall the concept for MOTM 3 is the battle between the man on the moon and Mr. Rager (look at the album artwork). MOTM 1 introduces man on the moon which is a concept album about a dream turning into a night terror. It goes back and fourth between dream (happy/fantasy) songs and nightmares (dark) songs. His constant struggle between good and bad mental states. MOTM 2 introduces Mr. Rager. If you listen to his interviews around this time, he actually wanted to put a compilation album out after MOTM 1 w/ all the people that inspired him (Pharrell and many others). However, he was battling a drug addiction (brought on by his new found success and past trauma stemming from his father's death), and he had a daughter on the way. So yes MOMT 2, Mr. Rager, an album about how he copes with his demons through vices. MOTM 3 is an album about his continued struggle with his depression, drug use, and his guilt really. This mirrors his real life. He's gone through stints where he's super positive and then he goes through bouts of depression. After MOTM 2, he put out WZRD which is supposed to be a positive album. Speeding bullet to heaven was an expression of how he felt at the time. He said "I just wanted to scream". Then boom, the next year (2016) he goes to rehab after having beef with Drake and Kanye. Then he puts out Passion Pain and Demon slaying, another positive album. Furthermore, TO THIS DAY, if you follow his twitter, Cudi is still struggling despite success. and honestly... that's how chronic depression works. So is MOTM 3 still on concept... yes... its about the struggle between good and adverse mental states.... the battle between MOTM and Mr. Rager. A fight against using his vices, doing something different in order to gain a better tomorrow. …. @@musiclifter5424 I don't disagree, especially with the scotts album coming out they're definitely going to take from each other. i feel like a lot of people didn't read the track list and break down the acts that went along with it. the first half was trap like because he was in a madness state and the second half was more classic cudi because he was leaving the madness behind. it fits the trilogy really well.
Sometimes man…Rod needs to articulate his points better lol. He was saying he didn’t think this album was tying in the original MOTM concepts, but he needs to explain more on why. Because I almost agreed with him until he starts contradicting his points. Indicud thematically could have been MOTM3 with the way it was constructed, but what that album lacked was the storytelling that the first 2 MOTM albums had. There were A LOT of random songs on that album that didn’t really have to do with anything. THIS album actually does tie in the same themes, with a couple of throwaways here and there. But he sounds incredibly confident on this album especially the first half of the album. The only thing what lacked with this album was the experimentation of sounds. Beezy hit it right on the nose, it sounds like a watered down Travis Scott album, but at least Travis Scott albums have a broader soundscape. This is probably the safest Kid Cudi album I have ever heard, which can be either a good or bad thing depending on the audience preference.
The issue with people going into projects is because they always try and compare them to there "old self" when as a artists you have to grow and experiment people need to drop that comparison because if all the shit sounded the same over the years people would get sick as fuvk of it
I love this album from the production to the lyrics complement each other and it's so cohesive. If I have a top 5 songs will be: Dive, She knows, Sept 16 and The Pale Moonlight, and Show Out.
I love this album. It feels like a natural progression of his sound and a culmination of everything he’s been through. Honestly felt like home as soon as i pressed play, I’m so happy he championed the title to this. I really just love it. Cause he just says things I’ve been through. And everything hits home
I’ve heard a lot of people say it sounds like Travis Scott like that’s bad. If you can get Travis Scott with more emotional depth, why wouldn’t you want that.
The Travis Scott influence I first heard on this album washed away after multiple listens. I'm happy I didn't write this one off after first listen because it just got better and better every listen, especially understanding the concept of the album and how each track fit.
I agree with Rod. Yeah I enjoyed a few songs on the project but none of them really gave me a mojo so dope, entergalactic, pursuit of happiness, day n nite feel.
This album is only one half. It said "to be continued" at the end. Travis Scott actually likes Cudi's music and asked him to go back to his rhymes and rappin. Like "Cleveland is the City" days. I think cudi put hints of scott in some tracks as a thank you cause everyone wanted that ol'cudi back.
Loved your podcast on SAVAGE MODE 2 (I agree it was one of the best albums of 2020), so I'm bummed we couldn't get all 4 of you on the main channel to review it. Hopefully, 21 Savage's next release will get all 4 of you on board! Keep up the good work, guys.
idk man I thought this album was great. The first half does suffer from too much Travis influence ESPECIALLY on the adlibs, i feel as tho if he would have cut out those adlibs it might have been better. But the 2nd half man, sooo much mood music that just resonates with me sonically so much, especially Mr Solo Dolo 3 (which is literally my favorite out of the 3) and Sept 16. I really dig the more trap influenced Cudi ont he 2nd half where he doesnt go too much into the travis lane.
Bro ur spot on. After tequila shots the album goes downhill for me. All the way till solo dolo 3. And all the way from that son till the end of the album sounds like true cudi motm music. Damaged, Dive, Heaven on earth, another day all just sound like cudi wants everyone to think he sounds hard on trap beats but the fact is he doesn't need that shit, not at all.
I fuck with the adlibs tho I'm glad Cudi adopted some of Travis's sound. It's like they both proppeled each other to their respective next levels and its actually beautiful to witness
I was waiting on myke because he was so quiet. I love this album as well. I love it so so so so much. Thank you myke. For the Travis point, I'm tired of hearing it. People need to realize, "Scott" is NO WHERE in that man's name. He took the Scott from Scott Mescudi. It's not shade, I like Travis a lot actually, I'm just saying that if you hear Travis remnants you are hearing Cudi remnants.
Everything Myke said. I dont listen to Travis Scott either so idk what everybody is talking about. Cudi went back to basics here, including working with Plain Pat and Emile again. It definitely gave me more of a MOTM 1 vibe. The production was very cinematic along with the visuals and album art. I havent listened to a Cudi album since Indicud but he got me back on board with this. Fave Tracks: Heaven on Earth Mr. Solo Dolo III Sad People Tequila Shots Pale Moonlight Sept 16
The only song that really sound like a travis song is She Knows This. That song really sounds like a travis song with the beat switch into a "spacey beat" and the adlibs. The rest sounds like cudi being cudi
Why like someone who is a bootleg of something else ? No astroworld was trash when it dropped and it’s still trash and overrated now . Cudi birthed Travis Without Cudi there’d be no Travis no other way around
I whole heartedly agree with Myke. It took me 10-20 spins but then I realized how great the album was. For sure a couple skips, but overall it was inspiring af. Salute to to the god Scott Mescudi!!!!!
Man on the moon 3 is the closure of a concept thats draging him down. A gift to his fans. His past work transform present hip-hop, probably in ways he dosnt expect at all. Im waiting for a big next project (s). One where he is liberated from his past. Love the project and the Man. Thanks for your opinions guys.!
This is the issue I have with with some of your guys reviews. It feels like you barely listened to the album. Not remembering song titles just feels lazy, at least have the track list in front of you. Love the content for the most part tho. 👌🤣
Kid cudi did his thing on this album in my opinion. Also, kid cudi was way more confident on this album than any other albums he’s ever made. He said this was the first album where he was actually happy
I really like this album. But, I wouldn't personally call him a rapper..he's in some sort of alternative category, idk. But, I've been a Cudi fan since MOTM, but I haven't been a fan of his last two or 3 albums, but he brought it back on KSG. After listening to this album in my headphones a couple times I really liked it. I'm a big Travis Scott fan, but I don't know if I felt a Travis Scott vibe on this.. Really good album, I was surprised when he announced and dropped this and at first I thought he forced the title on it cause people wouldn't STFU up MOTM 3, but it feels like a MOTM album.. ALSO..when I made by MOTM trilogy playlist and just threw it on random you could definitely tell when a track from 3 came on, but it never felt out of place.
Man it feels like Myke is the only one who actually listens to this shit. These dudes throw albums on in the background come in here and say "its bad". Bro you didnt even fucking listen to it.
This one took a while for me to really enjoy it. Once you get through the first few tracks it settles in and you get more “classic Kid Cudi” type vibes. I def. agree with B and Rod that You can hear Yravis Scott in the more upbeat tracks but that’s really in just the beats and once I started to read the lyrics and pick up on themes it started to click. I kinda wish that Cudi would of dropped this earlier because this is a slow burn type album.
The album was surprisingly really good imo. I wasn’t expecting much after Demon slaying, which was ok, and ESPECIALLY Speeding Bullet. My only criticism is that he played it a little too safe. Felt like he was trying more to fit in with today’s sound rather than stand out. Also it’s hard to ignore the obvious travis similarities. But once you get over that...it’s a really fun listen. Shout out to Skepta. His feature was FLAMES 🔥
Cudi does not sound like Travis Scott as much as everyone says in my opinion. Tracks like Heaven On Earth he sounds like Travis, I get it. But people are blowing this out of proportion.
Tequila shots hook classic cudi, she knows this switch hard, heaven on earth hard, sad people lyrics are deep, flashback is unique, Sept 16 is a Lovey mood if you got a girl, the void you already know, and pale moonlight nice. That’s my top but others are on repeat too. 🔥💯🔊 Great album. Can’t wait to see it live!!!
24.50 It wasn't forced. In the Zane Low interview, he said was just trying things out in the studio when he made tequila shots, another day and shes knows. After which he was 'oh shit this sounds like a man on the moon album" and ran with it from there.
My favorites are: She Knows This (flow switch), Dive (I need those fucking vibes), Heaven on Earth (you already know, ho, bullshit can’t fuck up my flow), Sad People (by myself driving, I go), Pale Moonlight (give no fucks), Rockstar Knights (last verse), Lord I Know (ready, ready, ready).

I love this album from the production to the lyrics complement each other and it's so cohesive. If I have a top 5 songs will be: Dive, She knows, Sept 16 and The Pale Moonlight, and Show Out.
This one doesn’t have the strings and cinematic feel that the first 2 have but it’s still great.
I wish it did.. it would’ve felt a little more complete tbh I still loved it tho
I guess because people want Kid Cudi rather than Travis Scott since they’re listening to a Cudi album?
The Travis Scott influence I first heard on this album washed away after multiple listens. I'm happy I didn't write this one off after first listen because it just got better and better every listen, especially understanding the concept of the album and how each track fit.
I agree with Rod. Yeah I enjoyed a few songs on the project but none of them really gave me a mojo so dope, entergalactic, pursuit of happiness, day n nite feel.
The Void and Lovin Me is such a good back to back!
I didn't even hear travis on that albulm, cudi been rappin like that ya feel
I've never clicked on a video so fast.
God damn it myke😂😂 forgetting to put some shit on his end of year lmao
Myke saved this review lol
BIG FACTS. Album is literally Cudi saying I'm still the same dude, I have just grown and feel more comfortable and confident now.
I knew Myke was gonna come through with a 🔥 review lol.
13:57 motm1 was like going into space... while motm3 is like you’re just floating in space...
Man. Make and my tastes are so similar but also so different. Not a fan of the metal stuff but on hip hop we agree so much.
I fuck with the adlibs tho
I'm glad Cudi adopted some of Travis's sound. It's like they both proppeled each other to their respective next levels and its actually beautiful to witness
First listen I didn't know how I felt about the album. Second listen I liked it... Let's just sat the album is still in my rotation.
Fave Tracks:
Heaven on Earth
Mr. Solo Dolo III
Sad People
Tequila Shots
Pale Moonlight
Sept 16
The only song that really sound like a travis song is She Knows This. That song really sounds like a travis song with the beat switch into a "spacey beat" and the adlibs. The rest sounds like cudi being cudi
If Myke likes this album he needs to revisit Travis Scott’s music.
Facts. I really think he would like Astroworld and Rodeo if he listened again
Totally
Nah Travis is mid
Why like someone who is a bootleg of something else ? No astroworld was trash when it dropped and it’s still trash and overrated now . Cudi birthed Travis Without Cudi there’d be no Travis no other way around
@@thdarkoneyou are right that without cudi Travis would be who he is now. But isn’t that a good thing? Is he trash because he got inspired by a artist
I thought this album was top 10 hip-hop album of the year
Not listen to much hiphop pal?
@@MW-tv4mv damn dude respect his opinion
@@MW-tv4mv L
This dude said Mr Ranger...
i appreciate the time you take to really soak in all of an albums music keep it up
Ken listened to this while playing Madden lmao
@@ChildishGambeaner I mean he didnt really critiqued it and he admitted not being an fan so that’s okay imo
It's crazy how people can listen to the same album and have totally different opinions
Thank God for Myke. Idk how you can listen to MOTM3 and say it was a bad album.
I’ve been bumping this album since it came out
Album was sick Appreciate yall kinge Da OG himself live & effect
Myke saved this one
For some reason I always agree with Myke on these reviews, Thanks Myke 💯
Kid cudi did his thing on this album in my opinion. Also, kid cudi was way more confident on this album than any other albums he’s ever made. He said this was the first album where he was actually happy
Only way I’d agree with Rod is the fact Cudi used Travis’ Ad libs
Myke gets a HUGE W for this one good shit sir!
Album is near perfect in my opinion, I could live without “Elsies Baby Boy” and “Another Day”

You guys also reviewed “Passion...” but continue
Put some respect on Pop Smoke god damn lol. It was his song originally.
Anyway best Cudi album sincr MOTMII. Top 5 album in 2020 for me
Skepta killed his verse on that one also.
Mans in grey hoodie said MR RANGERS?! Lmao that’s all you need to know.
This album was really good...
Does it bump in the whip though ? 😭😭
Cudi's vocals on this album improved a lot. His vocals on Lovin Me 💯. Wonder why no one liked that track.
Rod you gotta give this some more listens! When it hits, IT HITS.
Cudi does not sound like Travis Scott as much as everyone says in my opinion. Tracks like Heaven On Earth he sounds like Travis, I get it. But people are blowing this out of proportion.
I just wanna know where myke put it on his top 10 of that other list. I loved this album thoroughly
Love what Rod does for the channel on a technical level but brooo, please stay behind the camera.
He's so flagrant with his takes.
24.50 It wasn't forced. In the Zane Low interview, he said was just trying things out in the studio when he made tequila shots, another day and shes knows. After which he was 'oh shit this sounds like a man on the moon album" and ran with it from there.
My favorites are: She Knows This (flow switch), Dive (I need those fucking vibes), Heaven on Earth (you already know, ho, bullshit can’t fuck up my flow), Sad People (by myself driving, I go), Pale Moonlight (give no fucks), Rockstar Knights (last verse), Lord I Know (ready, ready, ready).
the Heart of a Lion "no no no no no" lmaoooo
Hope Rod gives this a few more spins, this record took me back to junior high holy fuck
Man where’s feefo at to put some respect on Cudi. Myke and feefo the only ones who understand the youngins
