  • Dr. Margherita Milone, a Neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, reviews results of her retrospective study appearing online ahead of print and in the October 2020 print issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings. She notes necrotizing autoimmune myopathy is a highly treatable disease that causes muscle weakness. Most necrotizing autoimmune myopathy patients exhibited cardiac and respiratory muscle dysfunction, but they found that immunotherapy could improve the respiratory and echocardiographic abnormalities. She also emphasized that early diagnosis and early treatment of cardiorespiratory complications can significantly improve outcomes for patients. Available at: mayocl.in/2Yp2rRL
