  • I was a bit skeptical when I heard this was $360, offered Lidar and Self Emptying capabilities. The self emptying system is one of the beet I tested. It was able to handle my crazy rice cleanup challenge, the robot didn’t get lost or skipped a beat.

    THanks Nathan. Real interesting robot. A budget robot with a big heart!!. Such a pity that we cannot get any high end robot in my country. We only get junk . Hopefully one of the big suppliers will open a distribution centre here. I had a look at companies that import, but for a Roborock S5 they want $2000. We also have a challenge that we have a very strict policy on the electrical supply and if it has not been tested, and certified for us, we have a chance that customs may block entry of the item. That was my rant for the day!
    Back to this one. I think that this robot and the Wyze (and to a dregree the Neobot) is moving the benchmark and is ultimately going to force bigger famous high-end suppliers to look at pricing. Why not buy two of these for your house or three Wyze robots instead of one high end?

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  3 роки тому

      Yeah you have some good points. It weird how some brands offer the same robot vacuum at different prices. For example the Roomba can cost twice as much in some areas. Anyways, these cheaper robot vacuums are bridging the gap between high end and low cost solutions without sacrificing performance and features. Depending on where you live and what brand you go with you may have better access to customer service, support and accessories. Here in the USA, we only have a handful of robot vacuums to choose from off the shelf. These are Shark, iRobot, Ecovacs and Samsung. A lot of the robots I showcase on this channel are imported overseas since I can’t get them here in the USA like the Roborock.

      @@RobotMasters The best we get here is a Kyvol s31. I just have not found any decent review on it. It retails for about $880 in South Africa. The other is Taroma Liectroux ZK901 for about $700. Then there are heaps of cheap chines imports for as low as $60! I got one as a gift (friend paid about $180 for it) - cannot remember the name - but is was total junk. Question: I just got my R1 and it works great. Just one thing is it makes a noise which I thought was the wheel but I took off the roller cover and roller and it stopped. i put back just the gray roller cover and it makes it again. Only on hardwood. I think it's the rubber strip that makes a high pitched noise when it rubs against the hard floor. Has anyone noticed this? not sure if I should return/replace. I love it otherwise.

    • @RobotMasters

      @@RobotMasters Right but the S7 is not in the same price range, and amounts to almost twice the price once a warranty is added. The Lydsto is the only robot vacuum that is at this price point that offers good cleaning performance, multi mapping and a decent self emptying system. Roidmi Eve plus is the better choice in this price range: two side brushes and the robot drivers into the station, so no wet mop on the floor -> no floor protection needed. The roidmi app is better and it supports the Xiaomi App, too. The only thing I like better in the R1 is the way the dust box is opened. But with the station, it is not relevant.

      @MrBlueCreeper 3 роки тому +2

      @@RobotMasters oh wow that's smart! I have more info on the Roborock T7S Plus. In the app, you can toggle the self-emptying bin. There are four options: Intelligent, Come on come on, Daily, and Super Strong. The intelligent option is, well, the most intelligent option. The intelligent option will predict the status of the dust box. I am guessing that means it can calculate when it needs to empty without the Dirtbin Full sensor. Possibly could be an airflow sensor or timer system. This option can also improve dust collection efficiency. This option is best if you want the robot to keep cleaning until it is done no matter the environment. Most reviewers would probably choose this option, and even some customers, too. Come on come on is the weak one, meant for small, clean homes. It states that residue might stay in the bin because this option isn't meant for heavy duties or daily cleaning. The Self-Emptying base will run for a short period of time and is pretty weak in this setting. This option is recommended for very very clean homes as well as small homes. The Daily option is the basic option, typical to other self-emptying bins. It is the most balanced option between dust collection time and efficiency. Most users would probably use this option when using the robot on a schedule, or if you run it every day. The Super Strong option is, well, Super Strong! It is used for complex and dirty environments. The Self-Emptying base will empty for a long time and get pretty powerful. This option is recommended for Stress Tests like the rice test in your video.

      Well from what I observed, the S5 Max is a little more refined in its App features and the way it navigates. The Lydsto is cheaper than the S5 Max and offering higher suction and self emptying system. So you are getting a better robot vacuum spec wise. As for durability, I not sure how long both models would last. Despite the Lydsto being cheaper, it feel like it was cheaply made. Hmmmm make sure the charging contacts are wiped clean on both the robot and docking station. Also ensure the docking station is getting power. You can try turning the robot on and off again.

      Thanks Nathan, I finally figured out, one of the spring contacts was always depressed, unable to be in contact with the vacuum, what a shame. I really like this vacuum for the price so I returned and ordered a new one, hopefully it will work right this time. Thanks again

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  2 роки тому

      Well at the time of filming this the company said they were going to add multi floor support. Not sure if they were able to offer this feature later on. If you want multi floor support look at the Roborock models, 360, Ecovacs or the iRobot models. I know for sure those brands have this feature.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  3 роки тому

      I believe through Amazon. You get 6 disposable bags and 30 disposable mopping pads in the box. Also the bag are similar to the Neabot, Kyvol, m7 Pro, so in theory your could buy those and cut out the cardboard to shape.

  • @CountPorcula

    Nice presentation, since it is a Xiaomi it does what they do best. Copy their flag ship robot the Roborock (eventhough Roborock left the firm). It looks a lot like the Roidmi Eve Plus. If you get your hands on a Roidmi Eve Plus please check if the main brush and burhs cover are interchangeable. From what i saw they look a lot alike except that the Roidmis heads don't come off. Also pls check the mop pads and dust bags. If they match i will buy the Lydsto brush since this is the main thing that i don't like at my Roidmi but is not such a big of an inconvenience. I forgot to ask, does this robot in this movie have the Y mopping mode? Tnx, keep up the good work, I started to enjoy your movies more than Vaccum Wars, he focuses to much in hand cordless vacuums lately.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, that means a lot. Vacuum Wars does very scientific videos. Anyways the Roidmi Eve Plus is something I hope to get on my channel. The extractor bar is different than the Roborock. But the ends can be removed. The bags could fit in other models and vice versa, may need to trim the card board backing. The Robot doesn't have a Y mopping pattern, just a normal vacuum pattern while mopping. For the value it really good.

    • @CountPorcula
      @CountPorcula 3 роки тому

      @@RobotMasters yes I know itis cheaper, I got confused when i saw it about 100$ cheaper on Aliexpress. I still think the Roidmi Eve is better and would perform a little better on hard flors because of it's 2 side brushes. This robot also has a small disadvantage because from what i see it doesn't have a plastic cover on it's bottom so if you place it on wood floors with a wet mop pad attached can become problematic.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  3 роки тому +2

      @@CountPorcula That true there no plastic mopping plate for the bin, you could always make one. The design of the base allows the robot to clean closer around it. I like the iRobot self emptying system but the plastic base sometimes accumulates dirt which causes docking issues.
      I did wish there was dual side brushes, something all robot vacuums should incorporate.
