  • I spent a Saturday in June railfanning the Florida S-Line. It was one of those "you get what you get" days. Saw some cool stuff. And then a week later, I got some REALLY cool stuff!

    Now, CSX 911 and 1776.....as a veteran and retired police officer, I argue they are the coolest and best looking machines on ANY night, anywhere!

      Distant Signal No Problem Danny, I just caught thoese engines (911 and 1776) yesturday in Ashland,VA on train W990-29 nd let me tell you the engines looked beautiful!

    Danny, lot's of great catches. As a child (circa 1959+), I was always fascinated with Baldwin diamond and the Baldwin yard. Your drone videos are some of the best views around. Thanks.

    The tribute engines were absolutely gorgeous. CSX should be commended for their commitment to these groups (First Responders and Veterans). BTW: I thought the fogged lens gave a cool effect with the train light haloed in the late evening light.

    I actually caught CSX 911 leading N758 a month ago. I LOVE the horn it had. I was so happy to catch my 1st CSX heritage unit in action.

    Just noticed the 343 in the white stripe on 911 honoring the fallen heroes of F.D.N.Y. My lifelong friend Dennis S. of Haz Mat 1 among them. Rest well Dennis and your fellow Heroes, Thanks Danny for sharing video of this special unit.

    Nice catch! 911 and 1776 look good together. At a time when there appears to be much division within America, it is nice to see something that unites us all, reminds us of who we are and makes us proud as a nation. Thank you CSX!

      Theres also one eith a blue paint scheme honoring first responders. Its more of a police style loco. I forget its number tho

    Nice of CSX to have alerted railfans to see 911 and 1776 and record them. My family has numerous members either veterans or active duty military (Marines, Navy, Army) and had neighbors and coworkers in the local police department or be volunteer fire fighters/EMTs. And that station in Ocala is a perfect railfan spot

      My family has been serving for 6 Generations now in the Military, and 3 of My uncles were firefighters so it's safe to say I have a soft spot for them. Not to mention a number of My friends are Gold Star Family members, sadly....so that Gold Star flag on the engine kinda gets ya in the feels....

    It is always great watching these videos, sometimes multiple times. I remember seeing the 911 and 1776 up in Spencer NC that same year 2019. It was at their Annual Fire Truck Festival at the North Carolina Transportation Museum.

    I was just up 301 this week with a stop At Baldwin. I was parked by the post office when UA-camr pulled up to video a move coming north from the yard then pushing back east as the diamond has now been removed. Thanks for all your excellent posts!

    "You can't let your camera get cold with your AC blowing on it in the summer time" Also guilty, I found that out in Texas a couple weeks ago-gotta keep the glass warmer than the dew point. Great catch on the 911 & 1776!

    I think the best compliment I can give you is that when I'm watching your videos it like relaxing and watch Sunday Morning on CBS. You remind me of Charles Osgood. Always a great professional presentation. They would be wise to put you under contract.

    Danny, my wife and I drove down from S.C. to Tampa last week to catch a cruise ship and we hopped off I-10 onto 301 at Baldwin and drove through Starke and Waldo on our shortcut to I-75. We saw one CSX rolling through Waldo. It all looked so familiar from watching watching your videos. Keep ‘em coming!

    Another GREAT video, Danny! You may already know, but the caboose at Waldo, FL, is former SCL M5 0979, it was marked with that number on the undreframe at one time. The caboose was never SAL, I guess somebody at Waldo wanted a SAL cab. Please keep these videos coming, I enjoy them very much!

    Nice to see the Tropicana refers toward the end, I used to see solid blocks of TROPICANA cars on the SP before the UPRR merger, now it appears BNSF handles most Tropicana refers and refrigerated containers Westbound in Texas.

    Thanks Danny for another great video. I missed the CSX 911 and 1776 when they headed South past Chattanooga last week, but thanks to "AC4400CWProductions" for mentioning that these units were headed over to Spenser NC for their annual Fire Truck Show at the NC Transportation Museum. I'll be headed to NC when I get-off shift at the Fire Station Friday morning. The NS 911 unit will also be there and according to their website they will have a special night shoot on Friday night before the show on Saturday.

      Autorack trains have been my favorite thing to railfan as they have all sorts of history. To see SP mated to a Cotton Belt rack is as rare as they get.

    Passed through Florida the other day, and I kept seeing something that was familiar but I couldn't place it. Then I realized that your logo is the Florida state highway sign, nice touch. Love the channel.
    Also, back in the day when I was in video, I did a lot of shooting in the winter. Before coming inside I would put my camera in a ziploc bag to prevent condensation from forming while it warmed up. Not sure if it works in the opposite direction, but your humidity woes reminded me of that.

    Those beautiful engines ... came right by the end of my street on the way down, but I would have been working that evening. One of these times ... maybe on the next trip ...     Weird to hear other railroads call out every signal where as on the UP we only call an approach or less favorable (Stop, Restricting, Diverging Approach, Approach Restricting). Great video.

    Okay, I'd like to make a few points here:
    1.) K-476 was hot-footing it when it came through.
    2.) Yeah. Sharp-looking engines alright. Not as sexy (pardon my French) as the dash 2, but it's decent.
    3.) CSX commemorative locomotives? WOW! And yeah, Danny, I was impressed by 1776's digital camo too. Must've taken the painters quite a long time, though, and I salute them for that.
