- Singer and actress Toyah Wilcox talks about her impulsiveness and tenaciousness being key to landing her the role of Monkey in Franc Roddam's Quadrophenia. She had originally been asked to help John Lydon through a screen test for the lead role, but when the studio found they were not able to get insurance for Lydon her connection with the movie was effectively over, and it was only her persistence that led her to finally obtaining a part in the movie.

For those that don't understand the importance of Quadrophenia. My generation were teenagers or younger when it came out.
It told the story of the Mods and Rockers from the 50's and 60's. A story that was largely forgotten.
Now it was the late 70's. It woke a generation who's influence still ripples into style and music even today.
My generation adopted the Mod mantly, wore the clothes listened to music and rode the Scooters.
It is still going now all these years later.
What a film.

I didn't know Toyah Wilcox was in 'Quadrophenia'. Then again I did not know _anything_ about her until this Spring when she started making silly, entertaining videos with her husband Robert Fripp.
She's put out a ton of music, between her band Toyah, solo music, Toyah and the Humans, stuff with Robert Fripp (Sunday All Around the World, The Lady or the Tiger), etc.
Same here. 6 months later.

A Very Talented Lady.
She is still very beautiful, intelligent and sexy. I've always fancied Toyah....since i Was about 6/7 and we had her poster on the wall of my brother and my bedroom. Ha ha. Now I'm 45, she's still gorgeous.

Have to agree!!. I'm in my 50s when ever I saw her on top of the pops I would fantasised that she would float into my room!!. TOYAH WILLCOX IS Still a Beautiful inspirational Lady and Rob have given so much to Music over the years. I'm a Ex H.M Forces disabled Veteran and also a musician, that I could honestly say that It would be a Honor And a privilege to even meet them both!!.
