If the Newcastle handball happens in the box it’s not a penalty. Why’s it a foul then? Both lead to a potential goal which is the argument against Joelinton. I’m genuinely curious about why it’s an actual foul. It’s a natural position and the literal DEFINITION of ball to hand which is something we’ve all forgotten exists. Mark suggests he moves his hand to block the ball but the ball is evidently just smashed at his hand which he has zero control over.
With how Mark describes it, it's as if Joelinton moved his hand as if to block it. When he didn't. He was naturally running at the player, with his arms/hands low. If you also watch the clip in slow motion, you'll even see, the hand that the ball is kicked too, doesn't move from it's position. It's legit ball to hand, and these idiots don't get that lol.
Goldbridge...you told the world that Liverpool are UNSTOPPABLE and unlikely to drop points anytime soon...but your very own team stopped them last night!
DeLigt handball is 100% a handball and 100% penalty. If this isnt a penalty nothing is. His clearly raised hand stops the direct movement of the ball towards the goal. Yes it most likely is not deliberate, but that is not the rule. And intent doesn´t really matter for example with normal freekicks, handballs, yellow and red cards. Yes it maybe is a bit close proximity, but its not like the ball is kicked hard towards his hand by his side or something like that. His hand is clearly elevated and stops the ball going towards goal. Yes the inconsistency is a real problem, but you cant set the bar at Delights handball @markgoldbridge and @thatsfootball, thats to convenient an biased.
Absolutely nonsense. It’s a penalty under the current rule but it should not be a penalty. A ball being hit into your hand from close proximity should not be a penalty. Rule needs changing. There was nothing wrong with the ball to hand rule we used to have, everyone understood it.
@SinsOfTheDojo So a defender can be a backup keeper in your book then? And the ball is not being hit that hard but headed and DeLights hand is up and out. Always a penalty. Its clumsy, but he is hindering the ball to go towards goal with hands up. Come on mate ..
@@SinsOfTheDojo I listen to Mark a fair bit, and hes not usually biased concerning VAR, thats not what i meant. But saying that this is not handball since it wasnt given in the other game is biased. Both are handball. He is a MU supporter you know ;)
nothing more annoying than tackles such as the gordon penalty incident where anywhere else on the pitch you’d get a foul and probably booked for it. happens every week
@marleynationn watch it again gordon looks down at the ball, then cuts back into kulusevski. If that gets given you will have attackers just running into defenders in the box. It's not a foul
How are we still talking about VAR in the Premier League? Honestly at this rate it’s like giving someone a computer in a workplace and they keep getting viruses on it, they’ll keep saying “it’s the system/computer” no it’s not…it’s who’s using it
Listen, Tottenham Manager will always wihinge and twine about anything. Guess hes sick of getting beat, especially by Newcastle. Listen, it swing in roundabouts, bit it still wasnt a penalty. Ball to hand.
The handball comparison is such a stretch man 😭. one is in the box, blocking a shot at goal while in an unnatural position in the air. Joelinton one is right by his side in a natural position and shot at from point blank range, you just don't give them as a foul unless it directly results in a goal which it didn't.
They dont make a difference mark. Because you said the league is already over. Liverpool have already lifted the premier league trophy so its pointless moaning about decisions.
I honestly don't see what is wrong with that one either. Saliba wasn't on the ball at all, he headbutted Pedro. Unintentional, but still clear as a day.
I think it should have been a red for De Ligt because from the replays I saw at least, it looked like the ball was going into the back of the net. And your Nunez example happened 40 times in that game with different players on both sides... and you are right
De ligt essentially mad a complete save of the shot on goal with his hand, clear pen. Nunez was a complete clown running into De ligt, absolutely brain-dead player
Joelinton had his arm in an expected position for his movement, close to his side, and he didn't move it toward the ball. While you might see a referee give a handball in this kind of situation, on video review there's no reason in law to disallow the goal. That Newcastle effectively gained an advantage, with Guimarães getting possession in a dangerous position, is no consideration.
The problem with your argument is that De Ligt wasn’t jumping. He was on his feet, turning to his right, with his arm in a totally unnatural position above his head. 100% penalty. I agree with what you’re saying about arms going up while jumping, but that just isn’t the case here.
It doesn't matter if it's natural positioning, he blocked the ball that was heading towards the goal with his hand potentially saving a goal for liverpool. If the arm is at the body, the ball would hit the body if the hand isn't there. It's not rocket science.
Also, his arm was way above his head and he was standing on the ground. I have seen many discussion about handball controvers through the year but this was clear as day. 100% a penalty.
The fact Howard Webb FC keeps crying about VAR and PGMOL makes me s îck..Howard Webb was literally your H ØRE in Fergie's era..Fergi used to pressure and coerce officials into favoring United in decisions
Absolute garbage take, it really is. Just painting a narrative that’s untrue. The refs are atrocious and ruing the game you ‘apparently’ are a fan of 🤦♂️
Madley was terrible in the Spurs-Newcastle game, but the no-handball call on Newcastle’s equalizer is about the only call he got correct all day. It’s fine to think the law is stupid, but based on the current law, it was the correct ruling.
Is one out off hundred when a referee make an on field decision and VAR overturned it, there is no need for VAR if they can’t affect the game positively.
@@QTC1688He got a bare glance on the ball before they clashed heads, no intent there whatsoever to say “violent conduct” or it “being dangerous play”. If that’s the refs reasoning then why wasn’t Saliba sent off?
@@BourneHunt he followed through and headbutted him in the side of the head. It’s a foul inside the box so it’s a penalty. He didn’t get a red because it was a genuine attempt to play the ball. No player intends to foul inside the box but there would never be another penalty if that was taken into account.
As a Liverpool fan I was stunned that Michael Oliver of all refs changed his mind in a way that favoured Liverpool. THIS DOES NOT FIT OUR NARRATIVE OF PERSECUTION!!!!
Not sure if the coverage is the same everywhere but I also found it strange that the checking for offside of Liverpool’s first goal didn’t have the offside lines which are normally shown when VAR is checking for offside. Instead the footage that was shown was Gakpo in motion and then scoring. Apart from the inconsistency with the awarding of those handballs and fouls, there was the Maguite yellow for winning the ball and Robertson holding Amad’s arm for an extended period right in front of the linesman who looked like he was never going to flag for a foul.
They don’t always do the lines if it’s clear and it was clearly onside so it was done quick. The Maguire tackle wasn’t a foul but VAR don’t get involved for yellow cards, same for amad and I’d rather them be less involved than more involved
@ The decision on the offside being clear? There was basically a line of players. There’s no way that decision was made without the technology, and the issue in contention is a portion of that process was shown, except it was not the portion indicating how that decision was made.
Conspiratorial nonsense. They don't always show the lines. Particularly if the player is clearly onside and the game restarted. We didn't see lines for either of the United goals either, and as all goals are checked, then by your metric we should see them for every goal. Maguire takes the player with his trailing foot. It's always been a foul and booking as he wasn't in control. Players have even been sent off for it. Talking of dodgy decisions, Yoro's challenge on Nunez in the box should have reviewed for a possible penalty. He makes contact with Nunez's foot before the ball. VVD was sent off last season for the same challenge.
@ They always show the lines when there is a VAR review for offside which was not the case for the Martinez goal because there was no review for offside. For Maguires challenge, nearly every tackle would then be a yellow card because there is that level of contact in nearly every tackle of that nature. He slid across to make that tackle which is no different to any other such tackle, so I don’t see how he is not in control. For Yoro’s tackle he won the ball clearly. Not sure if what you want is for refs to blow against the rules, because we want refs to blow according to the rules which he wasn’t doing, at least not consistently. If the ref and VAR made 5 incorrect/inconsistent calls in that game, all of them went against United which is not a conspiracy theory, merely pointing out the facts.
There were no hand ball inconsistencies. Just lack of understanding for the rules. De Light = hand in unnatural position, above his head = hand ball. Others were natural position. READ THE DAMN RULES MARK
As an Arsenal fan, this season has been a vendetta against us. Feels so bad to the point where I’m suspecting corruption. Maybe Man City paid the refs off at the beginning of the year and they’re just carrying out their commitment til the end of the year, even though city are out of the title race. If we had not had refs unfairly penalising us like the trossard red or rice red or Saliba pen, we’d be up there with Liverpool right now and it would make for a more interesting title race. Something fishy is going on. It can’t just be incompetence at this point.
no, now I'm actually starting to get used to VAR, it's not going to disappear. It's not going to be perfect, just like live refereeing is definitely not perfect. it's technology but it's people who make the decisions. and everyone who knows football understands that situations arise that are borderline, where 2 people will disagree about whether to give a penalty or not. I think it's bullshit and complaining by people like Goldbridge. I'm tired. this is just stuff to talk about, you can go on forever
Tbh the only bad decision of the week was the joelinton one especially after giving de ligt handball, i remember duran scored in the Ucl against young boys and we got a goal disallowed bc the ball touched onana’s hand 20 seconds before the goal on the half way line🤣 no idea how joelinton got away with it
@@daverobertson623 Grow up. Salibas headbutt is a penalty every day. It's even so clear that if the ref didn't give it, VAR would have picked it up afterward. If this would have happed against my team at the 90+7 minute I would have said it was the correct decision as it is so crystal clear.

It was a clear handball and penalty. It’s not a disgrace, Man Utd fans now want the rules changed so they can block shots with their arms😂 that’s new

VAR is a natural unnatural way of officiating any natural sport🤣🤣
It's gotten worse since VAR, it's like the refs no longer care and assume var will pick it up.
Didn't even mention Fulham Ipswich decision. Should have been a red. Saliba gets one on the half way line, Leif Davis doesn't get one on the edge of the box.
Thing is, when Arsenal fans call out these decisions, we get slagged off, but other teams get praised for calling them out. Pathetic. When those same decisions we've had go against us, go against their teams, they'll soon be calling it out themselves.
Once again you've proven to be unbiased and correct. Keep fighting the good fight Mark. Sincerely a Yank Liverpool fan.
Nunez was a yellow card at most it's not a red card we see these most every week
If Nunez gets a red for that then nearly every challenge Martinez puts in is a red
I forget actually, did Mark ever call out Martinez for that tackle at Palace?
@ of course not. The one that if Kamada doesn’t pull out he gets his leg broken it’s “silly” but never calls for a red. Jumping into someone’s upper body however is apparently a red

Chelsea were robbed with pens too should of had one on the foul on Neto v palace and Chelsea Ipswich delap dived
It’s clear your eyes aren’t working cuz the keeper definitely clipped Delap. Try to be unbiased for once u muppet
@watch it again pal
@williamferris6027 just did, clear penalty from the angle from behind👍🏼
VAR doesn’t want to overrule St. Michael Oliver.
Ps. You clearly do not listen to Mark if you think it’s biased 🤷♂️
He is a MU supporter you know ;)
VAR is by no means perfect but it is still far better than what it replaced!
No it's not at all toe nail offsides people never complained. Var has took so many goals from us and we can't celebrate anymore it's a joke
as a professional footballer, you do jump around with your hands by your side in the box.. just because it won't be given as a penalty..
nothing more annoying than tackles such as the gordon penalty incident where anywhere else on the pitch you’d get a foul and probably booked for it. happens every week
Mate Gordon ran into kulusevski. It wasn't a foul
@ Mate he cut in and got absolutely wiped out🤣 Kulusevski made no attempt to follow his run just took him out with the shoulder
@marleynationn watch it again gordon looks down at the ball, then cuts back into kulusevski. If that gets given you will have attackers just running into defenders in the box. It's not a foul

his hand and arm were up, his arm moved to block the ball, the ball was headed towards the goal. Grow up Goldbridge!
Arsenal penalty was a joke!
I honestly don't see what is wrong with that one either. Saliba wasn't on the ball at all, he headbutted Pedro. Unintentional, but still clear as a day.

As a LFC supporter, when Nunez got a yellow card, I seriously thought it was going to be red before the decision was made.
As a Liverpool fan I agree you are right. VAR is shocking
The assault on Gordon wasn’t even considered. 😂
The De Ligt handball is still acceptable, but the fact that they only give Nunez a yellow card is the biggest disgrace
Only disgrace is the number of mentally challenged fans like yourself. If that’s a red Martinez wouldn’t play more than 10 a mins match.
In the arsenal game they tried to say that the contact between Saliba and Pedro was violent conduct and should be reviewed on VAR for violent conduct.
How can it be violent. It was an attempt to win the ball. By that standard, heading should be banned.
They barely looked at it, plus Saliba won the ball.
@@BourneHunt How did Saliba win the ball? He wasn't on the ball at all. Look at the replay. It's super easy to spot.

The problem with your argument is that De Ligt wasn’t jumping. He was on his feet, turning to his right, with his arm in a totally unnatural position above his head. 100% penalty. I agree with what you’re saying about arms going up while jumping, but that just isn’t the case here.
Congratulations to Man United for winning the league title at Anfield.

@@ROC14088 Was it a massive result?
Wasn’t Klopp ridiculed for saying the exact same thing???
It doesn't matter if it's natural positioning, he blocked the ball that was heading towards the goal with his hand potentially saving a goal for liverpool. If the arm is at the body, the ball would hit the body if the hand isn't there. It's not rocket science.
Also, his arm was way above his head and he was standing on the ground. I have seen many discussion about handball controvers through the year but this was clear as day. 100% a penalty.
If Darwin Nunez was playing for Arsenal he will get a red card for his foul on De Ligt in Liverpool vs United game

Madley was terrible in the Spurs-Newcastle game, but the no-handball call on Newcastle’s equalizer is about the only call he got correct all day. It’s fine to think the law is stupid, but based on the current law, it was the correct ruling.
Are referees completely incompetent or is there widespread corruption? Where there is huge sums of money there is always corruption.

It’s incompetence. Poorly written rules with lazy implementation of VAR.
The Nunez charge is a Red Card all day long. How is that not a Red Card? Totally agree, VAR is a joke.
Is one out off hundred when a referee make an on field decision and VAR overturned it, there is no need for VAR if they can’t affect the game positively.

Exactly, VAR barely looked at it, and Saliba won the ball. Simple clash of heads. Out the field it would be a drop ball.

The inconsistency is criminal
It would literally be an exciting title race between Arsenal and Liverpool... basically whoever bottles last wins

no, now I'm actually starting to get used to VAR, it's not going to disappear. It's not going to be perfect, just like live refereeing is definitely not perfect. it's technology but it's people who make the decisions. and everyone who knows football understands that situations arise that are borderline, where 2 people will disagree about whether to give a penalty or not.
