A tip I learned from someone over my 40 years of motorcycle travel. Get yourself a good 6'-9' bicycle cable lock. Run it thru something substantial near the rear seat or luggage rack. Passenger handrails on the vstrom work well. When you stop for a walk around, run the cable up one sleeve, down the other out the cuff, then thru the chin bar and out the eye port of your helmet. You won't have to worry about your jacket or helmet walking off with someone while you're away from your bike. I've had severla people say someone could just pick the lock or cut the cable. Never had a problem over 3 continents. Most thieves in a public place with a quick grab and go. Hope it helps. It's really nice to walk around without carrying stuff or worrying if your stuff is still there to continue when you get back.

@@jayharrod8647 Thanks for the comments and watching Jay! I carry both a long wire lock for my safety gear and to lock the 70L roll top bag on the pillion seat. I also have shorter strap locks for my helmet and tank bag. Fortunately no one has messed with my gear over months of travel. If I plan to visit cities sometimes I will also carry a lockable bike cover. If it is a quick trip off the bike I sometimes just wear the gear (sans helmet) which is fine unless the weather is hot. Occasionally I get lazy about locking everything up and just wear the gear despite the heat! Regards Paul
