@cuman He was pretty much only good at giving out speeches. He delegated most of the state affairs to other prominent members of the party such as Bormann, Himmler or Goering and spent an outrageous amount of time relaxing in his home in the Alps. Militarily, he gave much independence to the army but still managed to influence the course of the war by committing errors such as dismissing good generals just for being slightly in opposition to some of his policies, starting a two front war with Operation Barbarossa and allying weak states such as Italy, the soft underbelly, or Romania, lengthening the size of the eastern front.

Really the earlier Germany invaded Russia the better it could go. However the invasion was so poorly managed and they refused to ally with people within the USSR who hated Stalin such as the Ukraine because of their racists views on them.
About the knights that happens because the knights culture is Occitan and the provinces have lost their Provençal core so the rebels defect to the knights instead of Provence
It's actually kind've infuriating, I've played Milan maybe 5 times and I'd say 4 of those times I've gotten events giving me a super good heir (I think I got talented and ambitious daughter twice) or just naturally have gotten a very good heir right before going ambrosia Republic. Meanwhile, I have to... "disinherit" heir after heir to get one with even acceptable stats in my other games. I am convinced paradox interactive is run by some sadist who spies on me through my computer camera while laughing maniacally at my pained expression. Edit: after posting this I decided to play milan again and go military dictatorship, as I always have gone with republic. You'll never guess what happened... I got a 5/4/5 heir before switching. Fml
i am pretty sure milan gets that even like 90% of the time at the start of the game to make it like you actauly lose something by going ambrosian republic
I'd just strengthen government to delay the disaster and keep the heir, there is no real benefit to doing the disaster early. It's properly better to wait so you can have higher army tradition and maybe offensive ideas, so you have more pips when making generals into rulers.

You could've done is as Prussian stratocracy which wouldn't make it an actual dictatorship since everyone who served in the military gets to participate in politics but it's still better for the militarization mechanic. It's rare to see someone actually picking one of the government types because they both give OP generals, military dictatorship like in 2:54 and prussian Stratocracy simply because it's Prussia.
