    I am excited to see your videos from Cambodia. I’ve been there a couple times. When y’all go to the same places it brings back great memories. Leaving the bracelets there was perfect. It was time.

      That's awesome. We really enjoyed it. It is such a beautiful country... though, we did face our challenges haha.
      What is your favorite destination in Cambodia?
      And we agree, there was no better time/place.

    I was so excited to see this drop. Thank you for honoring all the people, culture and those innocent souls lost during dark times through your kind gestures and curious nerdiness 😛. I especially love how you said, Khmer the way we pronounce it, Khmai instead of kah-mair. Can't wait to see the rest of the series!

    • @mikeandashley
      @mikeandashley  2 дні тому

      Ah, we're so happy that you enjoyed it! Yes, we learned (near the end of our trip unfortunately) that Khmer people pronounce it differently than we thought, so in our Voiceovers, we'll likely say it "Khmai" but in most of our talking bits in the vlogs it will probably be "Khmer."
      One of the main reasons we came to Southeast Asia is to visit Cambodia and learn more about the country, it's people/culture and history, so we're very grateful to have been able to see these places. It's such a shame, but hopefully a powerful lesson for future generations.
      Thank you so much for watching, we can't wait to share more! ✨

Maybe I will find myself where y'all are someday and you can have a guest appearance!

    Nice thumbnail. Hope you enjoy your 2 day trip to Phnom Penh, even though the weather is unpredictable on your 1st visit. That's good that you stay 3 days in Phonm Penh to explore the city. I didn't know you visit Cambodia for the 1st time because last year, your visiting Laos. What date did you film, how's the English level, 50/50 or 75% and do they accept card in some places that you eat and do you remember how much you pay to stay in a hotel for 3 days?

    • @mikeandashley
      @mikeandashley  2 дні тому

      Thanks @kevin19358!
      Yeah, we visited Laos, then returned to Thailand to stay in Bangkok for a month before heading to Vietnam. For some reason, we just skipped over Cambodia and I'm not sure why.
      English was actually quite good in our experience. There were obviously some times that we needed to pull out a translator, but less than you'd imagine. 65%?
      We filmed in June-July of this year... it was very hot.
      We were very surprised at how many places accepted credit card. They also use grab, grab pay and have an app called Namm24 that's really good for food service and paying for things.
      I believe our accommodation was only around $60 USD for 3 days. But I will say, we got a good deal.

    13:20, Wrong price for tuk tuk. My guess is $1 to take a tuk tuk.
    My uncle has been to Cambodia last year, but only in Siam Reap, he said, it's good. Never been to Cambodia, but I would like to visit there 1 day next year.

    • @mikeandashley
      @mikeandashley  2 дні тому

      Most of the tuktuk were ~$1 for quick trips. What you're talking about is our driver who hung out with us all day. He was amazing. We paid him $20 USD to drive us from our hotel to all of those locations and back over the course of like 8-10 hours.
      Most tuktuk's you hire are between $1-$2 in town.
      It's a beautiful place. More expensive than Laos and Vietnam.. sometimes, depending on where you are, even more than Thailand. But it's such an incredible place full of wonderful, kind hearted people. We hope you get to enjoy it!

      The truth the world needs to know: Cambodia is the Mother of Thailand. In the beginning, Thais from Yunnnan China migrated to Cambodia/Khmer Empire, lived under Cambodian rule, infused with Cambodians and assimilated to Cambodian culture. After many centuries living under Cambodian rule, Thais broke away from Cambodia when the Empire was crumbling. Without Cambodia's generosity, there WOULD NEVER EVER BE THAILAND; therefore, Cambodia is the mother of the said nation. Hence, Thai culture is almost an exact copy of the Cambofdians'. SPREAD THIS TRUTH

    I don't know you saw it or not. When I visited Toul Tumpong market in 2003, I found a lot of software being sold at this market. I could get any software I wanted like Adobe suite for about $5.00. And let me tell you something that people don't like to hear. You feel sorry for those who were executed at S 21. We all agree that they all were victims themselves. But not too many people are talking about the truth that most of the victims at S21 were killers themselves. That's right. Most of those victims were cadres of Khmer Rouge who were portraited as people against the regime. They were in thousands executed there.

    • @mikeandashley
      @mikeandashley  2 дні тому

      Oh interesting! We didn't see any software for sale, but we were also very focused on a mission of coffee and snacks! 😂
      And yes, we had heard that. It's such a tragic thing. It was a very humbling experience learning the stories and being in these places. It gave us immense gratitude and truly helped us see the resilience of khmer people
      Thank you for watching. We're happy you enjoyed the video! 🙏

      @@mikeandashley I know that you may not be there already. I wouldn't stay in Phnom Penh that long if I visit Cambodia again. Rural Cambodia and its people are something else. I know tourists normal don't like those things. For example, you can take a day trip from Phnom Penh to Nak Leung ( small city on National road 1 toward Vietnam) where you can find fresh water prawn. They are delicious. Kampong Cham or Kampong Thom trip will bring the heart of the rural Cambodian people. The golden triangle is where rich soil allows people to grow vegetable and fruits. People from the west love to go to the beach. I'm different. I visit Cambodia to see something that we don't have it here in the United States. There are a lot beautiful beaches here.
