love it, I love that you're called efficiently natural. Not to knock on others but I have never been the type to do all those maaaany things to my hair so you're a godsend. Also what happened to your FB page?
+Saiton Tameno, Awww thank you! Yes, I definitely don't have the time or patience to do too many things to my hair. Gosh, life has been a bit busy lately and I've been neglecting my FB page a bit
It also drastically cuts down wash time. I started doing it over a year ago after listening to the Quann twins share their hair regimen. They wash their hair in twists or braids.
would you say that you've retained more length? One of my reasons for starting this is because I want to see just how long my hair can really grow lol. It's never been as long as it is now (a little past clavicle). Even my mother is amazed lol but its only grown this long since I removed her from my hair care LOL. So far I've just been keeping my hands, and combs out of it as much as possible (wigs are life). Being that the most I ever manipulate my hair is on wash days (once a month) I think this will take out some of the trauma and damage I do to my hair = more length retention??
I pre-poo, wash, condition in braids. I wear my hair in 8 braids that I keep in bantu knots under a wig or head wrap. I do a very similar process! So excited to see this video and I too look forward to see your re-twisting video. Please be sure to let us see you untwisting the very ends of your hair so we can see how you handle your ENDS!
I know Golden Breeze. You had a siggy with your back to a mirror in a yellow shirt. How are you? Don't you just love Efficiently Natural? She has gorgeous hair and is so humble and giving. Love her!
You have a very good memory! Goodness, I didn't even remember that pic. lol I just found Efficiently Natural. She came up in my recommendations, and I initially thought it was a new vid from Geri. They look a bit alike. I'm glad that it did though, and I'll have to watch all of her vids now!
I love this method as well, been doing it for a year or so now just because it saves me so much time and I only have to detangle 1 time vs the 3 times I would find myself detangling in my older regimen, taking hours. And has significantly reduced breakage due to keeping it in twists longer and definitely allows my hair to grow faster with less manipulation.
I also have 4b/4c hair.. it's nice to see someone with a similar hair type with helpful tips!!! Thanks I'll be washing in twist to help with the knots and keep it stretched. Your hair is beautiful by the way.
Was reading the comments and I see you wash monthly out of necessity. Do you feel it inadvertently aids in length retention because you minimize manipulation?
You're video has given me a new idea on how to wash my hair for my next wash day. I'm guilty of letting my hair shrink up until it all tangles and sometimes on occasions, I would even sleep with my hair out without moisturizing it (I know that's bad). Now I'm going to wash my hair and the same twist set that I'm wearing and stretching it with bantu knots before repeating the whole process. Thank you for sharing this video.
HerMajestyBarebone At least now we both know what not to do so that our hair can thrive. I'm almost 4 years natural and I should of been at my goal but because of me sometimes letting my hair shrink up and constantly wearing my hair out in the beginning of my journey, it had led me to have major set backs. Now I let my hair stretch before doing anything and I do low manipulation styles for the week. Hopefully I can get to my goal by the end of the year.
Girl you just Motivated me to keep firm on this 3 month hair challenge 😍😍😍. I have been meeting hair goals but not where I thought or think and started to think maybe it not possible but to see that our hair texture is the same, well by looks 🙄 I am 😃 happy to see that I can reach those lengths with my 4c hair. Thank you your video help me a lot.
I also do my wash day routine in twists. Not only is it less time consuming and super effective but it also manage to limit hair shedding, knots and tangles, not to mention reduce excessive manipulation during wash day. I just prepoo with oils before washing with shampoo. If i don't have time to re do the twists the same day, i just put them up with bobby pins and put a wig on. I am even able to put a wig on the plastic shower cap covering my conditionned hair before i get to rinsing them out. So i am even able to go outside in between the different processes. Between shampoos, i do the same process with cleansing conditionners.
You gave me life. I'll now continue on my hair journey. I was so close to giving up because of the transition and the different type 4 textures. Thank you!!! 💙💚💛❤️💜
This was so helpful. I am going to try this new routine. My only concern is getting the suds all rinsed out. But I think this will definitely save me time. Thank you so much for sharing. I have been waiting on this.
I wash in sections but not in twist. Are you ever afraid you won't get all of the product rinsed out. Or vice versa you won't get conditioner on every single strand?
I tried washing in twist but my hair got even more tangled mainly on the ends. So do sections now and it works for me. Just goes to show that everything doesn't work for everyone. She has beautiful hair and I love her videos.
I do a combo. I shampoo in twists but detangle the twists with conditioner and I hold my detangled hair to it’s full length under the water so that all the product gets washed out.
I don't get all the dirt out when I shampoo in twists (or all the conditioner out) but I find it's worth it to have only 5% of the dirt remain in my hair if I get to retain length and avoid miserable tangles that cut my hair. That's me
+renaissance s, yes my hair does get a bit more tangly at the roots but it's not too bad. If I were to wash and not redo the twists frequently enough I'm sure it would be much worse. But it's actually not that bad. You're right though- with this process detangling is needed at the roots, particularly to get shed hairs out. Hopefully I can demonstrate what I do in my next video
I just tried this, and thats the problem I had. My roots were kind of tangled, and matted together. But I didn't do my twist exactly as she does hers, and also I don't think I was careful enough when separating sections. so I'm going to try again lol
Can this be done with my natural box braids? I gave very kinky coily 4C hair that’s extremely thick and I get very tangled on wash days to the point where I hate washing it. But my hair grows because I’m barely in it but when I do wash it , I have to remove so many knots that’s I cannot retain length 😔. I just found your channel and I know this video is old but any help would be greatly appreciated. New Sub
I like this wash routine. I am a bit worried about the roots tangling as I typically detangle when I condition. I will definatel y give this routine a try since detangling takes up solo much time.
G😍ALS!!!! You made the video yay!! Your hair is beautiful and great video as usual!!! Have you always used this routine throughout your hair journey? If so, what did you start with and when did it change?
+Being Shelly B, thank you so much!!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I probably first started washing in twists when I was transitioning after I realized I had less tangles when I didn't wash my hair loose. I do it on and off now that I'm fully natural..but I'm thinking of going back to doing it exclusively this way because it saves me a lot of time!
Absolutely love love love your wash routine, will definitely be incorporating some of the products and the wash routine. In total how much time does it normally take you from start to finish? And are you actually turning on the vibrating scalp massager while in the shower and if so for how long? Thanks again this video and your hair is so informative and well done.
Wow you must have had lots of shed hair to remove?? So is the detangling process the same as demonstrated in your detangling video? The only difference is that your hair is in twist?
I’ve contemplating doing the same thing stretching my hair for growth mainly because I notice more growth retention but I’m glad I came across your vids I think I’m gonna try it I been braids most of this year and I typically want to find more styles with my real hair because the last set of braids the weave broke my neck out for some reason
i loved this video. sooo informative. im a little embarrassed to ask but how do yu do the band tu knots?? yu do them soo fast i miss it each time....thanks in advance.
How do u keep your scalp clean during the month of no washing? I’m new to this I’ve had mine in for two weeks now , my scalp is now dirty idk what I should do for maintenance. U shampoo once a month & do a couple retwisting in between but what do u do to keep it clean until wash day
PLZ do u have a video on initial twists. I am having difficulty in size of twists. HOW many twists on either side? When I twist, my parts are visible ... how do u avoid scalp showing? Am I twisting too tightly? Thank u
If you watch her hair journey video you'll see she transitioned for a good 6 years. She trimmed as she went and did her "big chop" when she had only a few inches left. She's pretty much always had really long hair.
THanks for video. You don't get much shrinkage. I get a lot of shrinkage even when washing in twists. How do you keep your hair from shrinking when wet? or this just your texture when wet out of twists?
+brookes641, I do get a lot of shrinkage actually. I prevent it by keeping my hair in Bantu knots throughout most of the wash process and while drying. The twists also help with the shrinkage. I tried washing my hair completely loose once a few years ago and watched it shrink to just a few inches. Never again. 😊
+brookes641, also maybe check out my video on wearable twists at the very beginning after I wet my hair - m.ua-cam.com/video/nD5rQfshcPM/v-deo.html. I probably let my hair shrink up a little more in that video. Aside from the front on one side with questionable heat damage, my hair shrinks up a bit more because I didn't keep it in Bantu knots and my twists were looser.
Do you detangle and get rid of shed hairs before washing? My biggest issue is that I get single strand knots from shed hair that gets trapped in the twist. I can't imagine what would happen if a month of shed hairs weren't taken out before washing. Also do you not get build up when using conditioners with silicones (the Ogx and Aussie)? Silicones keep my 4c hair smoother but I have fine strands so I get build up. Should I dilute the conditioner maybe?
+Choco Tea, nope I don't detangle immediately before washing in the twists...BUT I do detangle throughout the month when I redo the twists. So that gives me a chance to get rid of some shed hairs before wash day. I totally get what you mean about the knots from the trapped shed hairs- I get them too! No, I don't really struggle with build up. My strands are not particularly fine.
my ends tangle and ball up i have to take my hair down how many twist per section is that that way i can wash per section and twist back up lol your hair is my goals
I tried this, and it did save me some washing time... but when I went to redo the twist, I found my roots were kind of tangled with each other. Like if I tugged on one twist, one or two other would come along with it. Idk if its because I didn't braid my roots down, or what. But the time I saved washing, was spent trying to unlock the roots of the twist from each other, and then retwisting. When redoing the twist I made them smaller, so that I could twist my roots in tighter, and I also tried to make sure I wasn't pulling stray strands from separated hair. I hope it works better this time. lol we'll see in a month
+BeautiFuFu, yup matted roots are definitely a possibility. For me it helps to detangle regularly when I redo the twists prior to wash day to remove shed hairs and limit matting/tangling. As far as twists being stuck together, making clean parts to start with helps. When I redo the twists after washing I also make sure to carefully take down any twists that are stuck together at the same time in order to separate them gently.
+Delleisha Hylton, it actually does shrink up quite a bit when saturated well and not put into Bantu knots. Check out the beginning of my wearable twist video as an example m.ua-cam.com/video/nD5rQfshcPM/v-deo.html
+Enas Elmaghrbi, it's out of necessity more than anything. The process takes way too long! I don't think I have the time to do it more often than this. If I could I probably would.
Let me know what you think of this twist wash day routine. It definitely saves me sooooo much time!!!!
Efficiently Natural Sometimes I uses braids because my hair is very springy and a little looser textured so the twists undo when water hits them:)
I do the same. It's so convenient and reduces tangling.
Efficiently Natural I wash my hair in twist every time. Love it so much. ❤❤✨✨. Beautiful video and hair, girl!!!!
love it, I love that you're called efficiently natural.
I find washing in twist the best option for natural hair. Thanks for sharing!
I seriously should start washing my hair in twists! I know it will definitely cut down on tangles
+NaturallyJasi, it definitely does!!!!!!

Hey georgiapeach310! Thank you for the note.
Chicoro, hi!! I use to talk to you a lot back in LHCF and on Fotki. Hope all is going well for you. :)

I also have 4b/4c hair.. it's nice to see someone with a similar hair type with helpful tips!!! Thanks I'll be washing in twist to help with the knots and keep it stretched. Your hair is beautiful by the way.
Glad I could be of assistance. Thanks so much for watching!!
Hair goal please.🙌🏾🙌🏾
Hunny!!!! This hair of yours! 🙌🏾😍I liked the video before I watched
+Nasha L0VETv, lol! Thank you!
your hair is gorgeous too hun
Ashley Adams thanks love!!
This may be THE best video demonstration of wash day with twists I’ve seen. Thanks 🙏🏾
the music sounds like some of the stuff my dad listens to!
Was reading the comments and I see you wash monthly out of necessity. Do you feel it inadvertently aids in length retention because you minimize manipulation?
+Grey Matter, Beautiful by Design, absolutely! I'm pretty sure this helps me quite a lot with length retention.

Empress Ali letting hair get packed in is a major reason I am barely apl despite being natural for 10 years ( yes I feel like kicking myself!).
HerMajestyBarebone At least now we both know what not to do so that our hair can thrive. I wash in sections but not in twist. Are you ever afraid you won't get all of the product rinsed out. Or vice versa you won't get conditioner on every single strand?
Leggs that's always been my concern with doing this on my own hair.
I tried washing in twist but my hair got even more tangled mainly on the ends. So do sections now and it works for me. Just goes to show that everything doesn't work for everyone. She has beautiful hair and I love her videos.

+Nykia Rodriguez, it depends on the technique I use. Check out this video m.ua-cam.com/video/nD5rQfshcPM/v-deo.html at about 0:30
Long beautiful healthy hair*😻 I'm jealous
Absolutely love love love your wash routine, will definitely be incorporating some of the products and the wash routine. In total how much time does it normally take you from start to finish? Your hair is beautiful! !
how do you go a month without washing your hair? please teach me. my hair gets so matted and dry
Can you do a video on trimming and a style tutorial ?
+Sukii kela, sure!
Wow you must have had lots of shed hair to remove?? So is the detangling process the same as demonstrated in your detangling video? The only difference is that your hair is in twist?
+ThisOwl, yup I sure did!!. And nope.. when I wash in twists I just detangle each twist before I redo the twist again.

A lot ppl are saying her doesn’t curl it does but also you have think her hair is heat trained so it will react differently
Thank you for the tutorial I have a problem washing my hair, so I will start washing with the twist bless
Your hair is beautiful, I'm going to try the twist method for wash day!
finally! I've found someone with a similar hair type who has a similar wash day routine with me.
ill be waching out for that blow dry and re twist!
This video was supper helpful, thank you so much for sharing God bless. Also do you oil your scalp? if so how often?
+mandy, you're welcome! nope I don't really oil my scalp.
Thanks for responding
Wow ! How long did it take to get your hair this long ? XX new subbie !
i like washing in twists, but because of my texture I MUST retwist immediately otherwise, my hair gets tied up if I let it dry twisted over the day
Perhaps its a polarity problem or moisture issue. It shouldnt no matter what texture u have
If I wash in twists, I get tangle hell,. My strands are too fine and too kinky.
great I wish you would of showed the style you came up with.. i am always struggling for styles
+aqua fina, lol! It wasn't that cute! I'll try to make a video on some of my styles though
PLZ do u have a video on initial twists. I am having difficulty in size of twists. HOW many twists on either side? When I twist, my parts are visible ... how do u avoid scalp showing? Am I twisting too tightly? Thank u
Wow sis you have A LOT😲 of hair how long does it take normal wash day? Great video!! Hopefully I can reach back length 😗😍
+keshia h, thanks!!! It took me maybe 2-3 hours for this wash day in twists I believe. Definitely shorter than usual
Same
how many years have you been natural?
+Hallie 1234, it's been a lot 7 years. I transitioned from a relaxer for 6 years though

Why do you wash your hair twisted? Does it make it easier because of the length?
my ends tangle and ball up i have to take my hair down how many twist per section is that that way i can wash per section and twist back up lol your hair is my goals
Thank you for this very helpful video. Looking forward to the follow-up.
Thank you soo much 😍😘😘😁really enjoying ur hair videos....girl that length is my dreams....😘😍😍😘😊😊
how long have u been growing ur natural hair out❤
Hair goals 😍😍💯💍
Where can I find that massage tool you were using??
Sherrel Miller Try Vitagoods! I got mine through @Naptural85 who had a product code at the time. Hope this answers your question.
Sherrel Miller I have one exactly like it that I bought from Publix c:
You no longer use clay?
+S Bill, I've only tried it once but probably will use it again one day.
Love your technique!
do you bantu knot your twists before going to bed?
+AfriPrincess411, sometimes but not always. If I want to keep them stretched I prefer wrapping them.
I loved it sis!
How do you remove the shed hairs?
Thank you, this is a life saver.
When I redo the twists after washing I also make sure to carefully take down any twists that are stuck together at the same time in order to separate them gently.
it seems ur hair doesn't shrink up in water. even in twists it's a bit strange
+Delleisha Hylton, it actually does shrink up quite a bit when saturated well and not put into Bantu knots. Check out the beginning of my wearable twist video as an example m.ua-cam.com/video/nD5rQfshcPM/v-deo.html
Naptural85 says the length also weights down the hair a bit so stretching is easier and you have less shrinkage
how can you wash your hair only once a month?? I feel like I could never be able to do that
+Enas Elmaghrbi, it's out of necessity more than anything. The process takes way too long! I don't think I have the time to do it more often than this. If I could I probably would.
My scalp gets too itchy by week two so that's the longest I could go.
I just subscribed!!!!
#hairporn. ur hair beautiful😍😍😍😍 it givs me life!!!! stay beautiful mami😊
My hair unravel in washing with twist
Your hair must grow like a weed and is probably very thick...because there are people doing everything right for many years whose hair is not as long
Gorgeous head of hair 😍😍😍
