Waddell is around my age and I related to him the most as a young adult. The best thing about hunting is the relationship with the people and the animals. People that don’t hunt don’t understand the intimate relationship with animals true conservationist/hunters have. We love these animals more than those city people do, that frankly don’t know anything about the wild.

I picked up my bow back in 2017 after listening to JRE with Cam Hanes, Rinella, and other hunters they had on. I'm a city kid, and even though I got the bow, I didn’t really start hunting until the last two years. That’s when I got deep into whitetail archery hunting. In that time, I’ve harvested two bucks here in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Hunting has been an incredible experience for me as a city kid. It’s taught me so much about the outdoors and introduced me to people I’d never have crossed paths with otherwise. Ive had to learn more about woods, terrains, winds, animals and their food sources, got to observe different animal behaviors which has been great learning. Ive also learned on my own to cut and quarter an animal, which has connected me closer to my food. With the meat from my kills, I make sausages, cut everything into steaks, and share it with my city friends and family. Hunting has honestly been a blessing in my life-a new hobby that’s brought so much meaning. I’m 36 today, so trust me when I say it’s never too late to learn something new.
That’s a great story, I was brought up in rural Alabama, years ago they had youth archery events, my cousin was so good at it, she won lots of trophies for her talent she had. I remember eating deer meat as a staple at our house always
That's awesome! I'm from Duluth moved up from the cities after hs. I grew up fishing but not hunting. Shortly after moving up north I started hunting. 38 myself now. We got it good here. Lots of public ground in MN and WI. And big bucks if your lucky enough to get on one. I archery hunt both states every year. Just started saddle hunting a couple years ago. That's been really fun. Awesome to hear, and good luck!
Been following and watching him for many years.. his show on the Outdoor Channel, Bone Collector. I think he won a turkey calling championship when he was young that got him started. Bill Jordan from Realtree Camo.. and Realtree Outdoors TV show, discovered him when he was young.
I grew up watching and idolizing Michael! As a guy that guided and shot competitive archery he was a big part of this! Now I’m sitting listening to this podcast with my 3 week old son in my arms it makes me feel happy and proud that maybe he will carry on the love for the outdoors! Thanks Joe and Michael!!
Congratulations on the new baby, got to bring our babies up being in the woods, even though we live in town now, we still go back home and hunt and fish and our girls are better for it ❤
Me and my brother grew up watching every DVD he came out with. We lived on realtree road trips for the longest time. And I was always fascinated watching him hunt in the West. So now I live in Oklahoma, I'm from Virginia. My brother and I have met him three times going to different events, without a doubt. One of the coolest dudes to me. When I first met him I could not believe how tall that dude is. He's damn near a giant LOL.
I am born and raised in East Tennessee and have hunted arrow heads since I was a kid through the 90's. In 98' my brother found a huge solid black ceremonial flint spearhead in perfect shape with no breaks in a plowed field in the holler we lived in
So great to hear the perspective of others. It’s because of Rogan and similar podcasts to this one that I asked my brother to take me hunting with him about 6 years ago. He didn’t think I would wake up early and be ready at 5am….but I was! We had the best time in just the fields near Bakersfield trying to duck hunt. I laughed so much, and my brother made it so special. Rogan’s podcast opens the door to so many things. ❤

Went to go live with my dad in Alaska when I was 13, spent 3 years living in a log cabin in North Pole, Alaska. Moved to Florida after the navy and went to see my dad in Georgia who was visiting my grandpa. We were driving along this lake there when my dad said he used to find arrow heads along lakes like this in Arkansas when he was a kid. Within the hour I found an absolutely PERFECT quartz arrowhead on the bank. Years later I had it on a necklace hanging from an 8 point deer rack and my wife knocked it over onto the tile floor and cracked it. Heartbreaking.
@@marcpriest85 We're all broken. They were holding up arrow heads, talking about how perfect one was and how much work it woulda took. Painful every time I think about it, but definitely a 1st world problem
I grew up in the backwoods of North Alabama. I know a good old country boy when I see one. This dude is about as pure as one can get. A new fan. I live in Washington state now and miss being around these kind of people. I appreciate when people like this are in the spitlight because the world needs more of em.
What a great conversation! I've been a hunter (all methods) since...1985... and I still feel the same excitement when I go into the deer woods. We still go out back country & tenting it. It gets harder the older you get, but it's still just as rewarding. We've never had the money to hunt private, and we're not always successful on public. But, we would never trade it for the city! Love these guys. Oh, and...I'm a woman.💋
One of the coolest things growing up was sitting in the car rider line at Mulberry Creek elementary and seeing that bone collector truck pull up. I went to school with his son, his ex wife taught me in elementary school. This man is a local legend. I remember the first time i met him i was eating at the hunters pub, i was probably 7 at the time. Best 5 star hole in the wall on this planet. Awesome to see our county represented on JRE
I went to mulberry creek, never heard of this guy personally since I don’t know much about hunting but my friend told me about him and about this podcast and after listening i can say he’s a great guy and I’m intrigued to go hunting one day hopefully
Honestly Michael is my favorite interview so far. Guy is genuinely happy and that last statement about the school shootings and how most people in the south are solid good hearted people that wanna help was from the heart.
Lifelong hunter here. Remember getting Realtree Monster Bucks VHS tapes for Christmas presents every year when I was young. lol. Love how Joe is showing that hunters are simply good dudes. Thank you Michael for representing us! Guys like you inspired me to get off the couch and complete my turkey World Slam. Anyway, love this content! Btw… Joey Diaz hunting is the funniest thing I can think of. 😂
I used to look forward to the release of the Monster Bucks videos every year. I had all of them. The first time I saw Tiffany Lakosky was on one of the videos. Jeff Foxworthy was a hoot on those too.
I’m a Kansas boy.. we grow up hunting, fishing, trapping.. I feel the same way about fishing for striped bass in the big Oklahoma spillways that you guys do about turkey and elk.. I spend the winter building my own baits, tying bucktails, and praying for rain!! Waking up at 2 am in the spring so I can be at the spillways at sunup.. if you’ve never caught a big ol striper with a surf rod on bucktails that you’ve poured and tied, you’ll never know true satisfaction..
Just won't go away will it. Funny that isn't it. 16 species of human or human type species have existed on earth. That we know of so far. Because they have the bones in museums and science books. The last 3 were found fairly recently, with 2 being "highly unusual" neanderthal type and another human skeleton of tiny proportions found in cave in Asia, similar to one from cave in Indonesia. We are giants compared to those skeleton. More beings bones will be found, guaranteed. Some species overlapped through history with interbreeding taking place. So what makes u think modern humans have been the 'only ones' and indeed still the only ones. We have never, and still aren't, the only ones. People need to educate themselves a bit before coming up with their misguided conclusions.
another podcast same 4 or 5 talking points , he should just let the guest talk at this point we already heard what he has to say a thousand times hes repeating himself over and over like he's stuck in a loop
Always thought a lot of Michael since his early twenties.. he was a terrific young man and now even better as he ages.. as my grandmother would say, he never got above his raise’n.
ISHI is the connection to big game hunting with archery. Yahi tribe and he walked into Oroville CA 100+ yrs ago. He is the rosetta stone as an analogy. God bless him
Had a nephew named Cole God rest his soul like most men in my family was completely enthralled with hunting and everything outdoors waddell took him hunting before unfortunately he passed with cystic fibrosis Michael waddell is an outstanding human being ❤️💯 a friend a friend would like to have he's an American treasure🇺🇸🫡
If Joe sees this, there's a winery named Arrowhead Winery out in the Austin area. The owner would love you to reach out.... He finds hundreds of arrowheads and other ancient native tools
As a guy that literally trained up for his first hunting season this past year in TX, i was taking a break from the mountain of hunting podcasts that I listen to. I didn't know Michael or his background so I let this one play on my way to the range near Austin. Damm am I glad I did, I suspect that this guy is what's known as a "woodsman." Its compelling to see the effect that certain ways of life have on the psyche of the practitioner.
guessing a large amount of rogan's non hunting audiance will have zero clue who Waddell is, but as a long time Realtree/Bone collector fan, I love seeing Waddell on the show
Joe should pursue an interview with senator Josh Hawley, a senior representative from Missouri. He understands and calls out the corruption in insider trading and big corporations. Would be a great conversation and a good insight into a good side of politics we don't usually see.
Yes, that would be cool. But, as I understand it, Hawley is tough to pin down, because he runs so fast. When he needs to, Hawley can really turn on the afterburners.
I was blessed to grow up in a very, very rural area of La and it is the best childhood a kid can have. Hunting, fishing, working, and living in that environment teaches so many life lessons you will carry with you your whole life.
2 brilliant men here, with the most real , purely honest, appreciation of the gift of life and loved ones. I learned a lot and can finally understand that hunting has its' attributes.

Painful every time I think about it, but definitely a 1st world problem
If there’s anyone who hasn’t heard Wadells one legged turkey joke, I highly recommend you look it up
I ain't ever heard of this man, but as a southern boy, I CAN'T stop listening. I feel like it's my grandpa reborn. wow :)
Bone Collector
Use to watch michaels hunts with my dad when i was a kid. Takes me back in time to hear his voice. So thankful for this episode.
RIP Steve Kallaus
I grew up in the backwoods of North Alabama. I know a good old country boy when I see one. This dude is about as pure as one can get. A new fan. I live in Washington state now and miss being around these kind of people. I appreciate when people like this are in the spitlight because the world needs more of em.
Same here , I am in South Alabama and knew he was from within a few hundred miles of me .
I really like this dudes sense of humor. That Missy Elliot reference made me laugh so hard
Yes very clever
Looked for this comment 😂
I been watching Waddell for a long time! He’s never changed! Real one
Really great getting to know Waddell! A treasure of a man, thank you!
Dude jeff foxworthy on joe rogan would be badass.. i wanna hear jeff foxworthys rodney dangerfield stories i bet hes got some good ones
Merry Christmas to my 432 hertz fam!

I appreate all the episodes you recorded for us all over the Xmas holidays :) it’s a really nice treat! Thanks!
Honestly Michael is my favorite interview so far. Guy is genuinely happy and that last statement about the school shootings and how most people in the south are solid good hearted people that wanna help was from the heart.
Merry christmas yall. 🎅
Thks 🙏🏼😊❤
Thx, same to you and youre loved ones!
Christmas is a pagan holiday my friend
You’re not allowed to say Merry Christmas anymore
@@Staridido1 🙄 Always one.
Best hunting podcast in a long time . Good stuff !
1 of the best podcasts, been watching Micheal Waddell for years, great ambassador for the outdoor industry.
I love listening to Brother Waddells messages about life, the outdoors, and brotherhood. A true icon!
Grew up watching Michael on VHS with my dad. Damn I’m starting to feel old
This has been one of my favorite episodes, love hunting talk
This man is an American treasure
wow couldnt stand that accent for more then 5 min it makes u want to follow him anywhere .... right into the grave.
The narrator of my childhood
@@esotericevanhaha right?
Waddell is such a great dude… This whole conversation is pure gold. 👊💪
Waddell is the man
Didn’t see this coming
This will go down as one of the most under rated pods. What a great pod! Been watching him since i was a child
Aaand we’re already talking about Big Foot 😂
Did you know a cougar ate Joe's kids?

Watching Michael Waddell hunt was my childhood 😭
I remember him hosting Realtree Roadtrips. He got me into hunting!!
T Bone
Always thought a lot of Michael since his early twenties.. he was a terrific young man and now even better as he ages.. as my grandmother would say, he never got above his raise’n.
I heard Wes Huf was just on the show today, I’m refreshing this thing every few mins looking for it. Jesus loves you Joe Rogan!
The stories about Theo from other people are always fucking hilarious.
Waddell is a G! Super awesome guest for the JRE.
One of the best podcast guests you've had on, such a natural convo. Michael is a great dude. Really enjoyed this
He truly is just a good ole boy. Such a good story teller. Much like Rinella, they can explain the hunting lifestyle perfectly.
Rubella is an ass…Waddell is the pure Southern hunter.
I'm ready for the end of the year show with the bone yard guy!
Wow! Never expected for this podcast episode to become one of favorite!! Great show!
Me either, i went in thinking it was going to suck because i am not familiar with this dude.
Listening to someone as passionate and appreciative as this guy… That is the key to everything in Life
If Joe sees this, there's a winery named Arrowhead Winery out in the Austin area. The owner would love you to reach out.... He finds hundreds of arrowheads and other ancient native tools
"Bone Collector." I Know that Woman 😆💀

Waddell is my favorite celebrity hunter because he’s basically the same guys I grew up with. Love to hear people get excited talking about hunting.

Phenomenal. Best episode yet. Hunters need more voices like waddel. Awesome human being.
Michael W is the GOAT! Good to see him on the show!
guessing a large amount of rogan's non hunting audiance will have zero clue who Waddell is, but as a long time Realtree/Bone collector fan, I love seeing Waddell on the show
Joe should pursue an interview with senator Josh Hawley, a senior representative from Missouri. He understands and calls out the corruption in insider trading and big corporations. Would be a great conversation and a good insight into a good side of politics we don't usually see.
I've seen him doing good work grilling squirmers, but never heard a podcast mention his name. It's weird.
Yes, that would be cool. But, as I understand it, Hawley is tough to pin down, because he runs so fast. When he needs to, Hawley can really turn on the afterburners.
Yes!!!!
I skipped hunting this evening to watch this and low and behold my son let the 308 bark so now have to process a deer

Waiting for that Wes Huff God bless you Joe Rogan
Me too bro, Jesus is Lord!
This takes me back to around 84.My older brother had gotten me a Bear Mini Magnum. Loved that thing.
Fellow Georgia boy doing good! Sporting that old school Realtree too. Met him two times in years past, nothing but the best words to speak of he and Travis, so proud of what they are doing for the community. Appreciate it Micheal. So thankful for my lifelong hunting and fishing life!
That story with the homeless guy - so wholesome. I don't know if I would have had the wherewithal do that. Much respect, I can learn from Michael Waddell in this respect.
Jeff Speakman would be an interesting guest Joe
Release the Wes huff interview already !!!
