That was a great tip. My wife's 2010 Jeep Liberty has very little heat on the passenger side, no heat drivers' side. I'm going to flush the core with some CLR, blow it out and then refill with anti-freeze. Watching what you did with the hole was genius! What a time saver, thank you...and I'm sure my wife will also be thankful!
So... a friend had a terribly plugged and leaking heater core in a 2005 Liberty. I replaced the core which fixed the leak, but the heat is really wimpy, just barely warm. I think I have it burped and the last thing I checked was the flow rate out of the inlet hose---it was really low flow, thus wimpy heat. Any suggestions why? Owner said it was working OK before the replacement. It doesn't overheat, so I have to assume a good thermostat. I'm outta options. I'd appreciate a reply what you'd do next. Thanx in advance. MOK
Can you please add some more information? Is the car running when you do this? and is the heater control set to max heat when you do this? What is the risk of getting burned?
I don’t understand, why would you want the coolant to come out of there? Is that a constant thing or is it only a testing thing or stop once you add the clamp back on?
My friend's 07 Nitro not blow heat ... We will try to do this trick, we all ready had checked the thermostat and did a flush on the heater core.. thank you.
Thanks for the tip! I have an 08' liberty blowing warm air in the cabin and cold air when switched to the defrost vents. I replaced the thermostat and coolant. Heater controls seem to be working as well as the gears that switch from hot to Cold under the steering wheel. Hope the flush and this truck help. Wouldn't the coolant leak out after you put the house back? Sorry I'm an amateur at best. Thanks again.
Make sure you put a hole near the end of the hose so when you push the hose back on it is covered and clamped buy the plastic it is a very small hole so no it should not leak I’ve done this quite a few times and I’ve never had one leak I hope it’s helpful for you it doesn’t work quite well
Alex did you get this problem fixed as I am running into a very similar problem and of course the dealers just want to replace the core. Heat is not as great as it used to be however a backflush of the core is clean and clear, no restriction. With just plain vent heat on low fan I am getting around 130 degree air from vents however switching to Defrost results in very cool air really fast from the defrost vents.
I literally just got the heat going. Heater core hoses were both warm so I know it wasn’t that. Actuator was also good. After changing the belt & cleaning the grooves on the tensioner as well as anywhere the belt wraps around, I took off the tension & pulley. Cleaned em with some WD40. Put it on my finger & spinned em. They weren’t bad at all. After putting everything back together I still had no hot air. So I thought maybe it was the thermostat or heater core. Since the hoses in the hood were warm to the heater core I decided to burp it. I opened the cap to the radiator & left it as so. Turned on the truck & let it run a few mins. Still only cold air. I went to refill it as I seen it had chugged it all in ( coolant ). Finally as I had the heater on blast yet still only blowing cold air I decided to rev up the engine. Did so & behold soon as my RPMs went back down it immediately started blowing hot air. Thought maybe this would help someone. Sure it left a mess on the floor of the garage as some coolant spilt, but it worked & got rid of the air/bubbles.
Is there directional flow to the heater core? Or are the hoses interchangeable? My car the hoses crossover each other, thought maybe they were put back on backwards?
Generally there is really no directional flow bought the direction that the engine passes coolant through the heater core is generally from the top to the bottom if the heater core sits vertical some vehicles have vertical heater core some vehicles have horizontal heater cores it really doesn’t make a whole Lotta difference but if you’re worried if your heater core is plugged just take a water hose and spray it out in each direction and that will probably unplug it
Hi sweetie, I like the video and I want to ask you a question? I'm having a problem with my car heating system the mechanic doesn't know what's the problem with my heater system in the car he tried everything. Please give me a video to watch ok. Thank you
Well hello Angelina I’m very sorry. When you say he has tried Everything what do you mean what has he done? I will certainly do my best to help you and maybe we can resolve the situation I greatly apologize about not getting back to you sooner
So all of a sudden my cold air stopped working yesterday and the fan isn’t blowing air at all, but when I drive and try to turn the cold air on, it blows barely anything when I’m driving but still not enough air and it stops completely when I’m at a stop light
Hello Karen it sounds like your blower motor has went bad of course this is just a text message if you locate the motor and you turn it on and tap it with your hand or hit it with a hammer lightly you’re not trying to break the plastic and the motor starts up it definitely needs a new blower motor
We have an 08, sky slider roof... nuff said 5k later its working again. , this is a great trick I have to try. I have flushed this core out 3 times this winter only to get heat working for a day or 2. We also tow 3.5 k trailer with ours and we have a high temp reading when we do in 80+ degree weather. Think it is air. I have tried purging out via the air bleed valve but, you probably hit the nail on the head. you have to bleed out from the high point and the heater core is higher than any coolant part in the vehicle. So that said if this works I will make an adapter that connects to the outflow hose with a bleeder valve. Makes sense right why would Chrysler think putting a low point bleed valve would work anyways.
Yes it is a very good trick that’s why I shared . They make one of them bleed or kids that you’re talking about And sell them at any major parts store there about $10 hope that helps a little bit more have a great day
Im having the same issue.. the gears on the heater blend worked so I'm thinking possibly air in the system as well.Im sure the flush helped but is it mandatory before you free any air out?
It’s always a good idea to flush out your heater core before you bleed out the air because you will have to bleed out the air no matter what let me know if this video helped you I hope it did !!
Mine engine temp. Isn't getting over 95°F. Change thermostat 2 times with one that opens at 180°F. Pack the radiator with cardboard in winter it still don't run hot.
Thanks i just saw it now and it was empty , i filled out let it run and went to check empty again..so i guess i let it run completely empty , now i filled again i will wait till it cools down and then I’ll let it run again just to double check if it needs anymore..hopefully the engine didn’t suffer running empty like that..suddenly this is my wife’s car and she never checks anything! Thanks for the help again !
@@sharpcarco I didn't mean it in a disrespectful way. That way you showed didnt help my problem. Thats why I said it wasn't helpful but if you got advice I'd love to hear it. I have a 03 liberty sport 3.7 I flushed the heater core replaced the thermostat and bleed it. While I was bleeding the heat would get warm then cold finally it was like luke warm. I put the cap back on drove it and it's ice cold again should I keep trying to bleed it? Or what am I missing I would hate to replace the heater core and it still not work. P.s. there was no more bubbles coming out just straight antifreeze.
Robert Smith Oh my god so sorry. People are always saying rude things to me so I just automatically assume 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️, More than likely it is a plugged heater core. As a last ditch effort you could put CL are in the heater core only and do not run it through the engine. What you do is just get two hoses about the same size, fill heater core up with CLR and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Flush CLR out replace the heater core lines fill with good coolant and Hopefully it breaks down the rust molecules on the inside of the heater core. It is not good for your heater core at all!!! But why do you have to lose at this point? Make sure you wear protective gloves because CLR is extremely corrosive. I’ve had at work about 5050

I have a 2002 jeep library put in heater core & water pump and t thermostat still no heat on fan speed #4
Check the vaccum stroker behind the glove box mine popped off

@@jamesbarrett505 Yes, the flush got it blowing hot for me. I didn't need to drill a hole. Try a simple flush before spending big money. Good luck.

2008 Jeep library sport the heater and defroster blows cold air on the drivers side and on slightly warm on the passenger side
Do you have A control for your passenger and driver side meaning are they separate on the control panel?
Clay Rogers no , 1 control runs both sides. If I turn the heat knob on high the heater and defrost will blow out cold air
Mines doing this as well 2010 jeep
