In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Karabakh Is THE HARDEST NATION In EU4 I play as Karabakh in Europa Universalis 4 1.34 Lions of The North. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Karabakh and I attempt to conquer all of Caucasia and for Armenia. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future.

I would like to see a campaign for the Empire of Trebizond. This state usually dies before even 1470
Again, Form Brazil for no Reason. Then form Australia
I'd love to see a trade focussed challenge in South East Asia
Own all of south east Asia and become emperor of China and own Kyoto
Idk what it's called but make the trade node Khmer starts in the most valuable in the world
Adana is because of Cilician Armenia a southern Armenian kingdom that existed during the Crusader period. It was part of the much larger kingdom of Armenia in the pre-Roman period and there were also large migrations of Armenians into the area under the ERE, which lead to the kingdom forming when the Seljuks beat up the ERE and the Seljuk's later collapse
ERE?
@@matheusGMN eastern roman empire
The Cilician Armenians actually remained there until the deposition of Mehmet Celal during the Armenian genocide
Damn you beat me to it, haha. Good summary
Nah thats not it
You need it because of the old armenian empire that lost to the roman republic
If stuff like this counts, I think Dai Viet should count too. Sure, their ideas are technically shared by 3 tags and are therefore not listed on the ideas page, but Annam and Tonkin can only be formed by splitting Dai Viet itself.
And one of their missions is to prevent the division too, so technically the other 2 tags can only appear if you fail that mission 😂
He's already posted another video by this point but jeez I hope we can reach him with this, make him do a Vietnam into USA torture run or a unify China thing, something
You need Adana because during the Crusades there was an Armenian kingdom in Cilicia called "Cicilian Armenia."
Cilician.
Also armenians were once a majority there, and were a big minority there for a long time, like until the armenian genocide.
Yeah. In addition, look up “Greater Armenia” under King Artaxias I.
That’s why a number of us suggested that the goal is to form the Greater Armenia region so that it will be challenging but fun 🤣
@@johpanares8410 Armenia had its largest borders under the king Tigranes II untill the Romans defeated him.
@X X you are azeri lier
Yeah, Artsakh/Karabakh is pretty hard nation irl, too...
its hard to be a country that isnt legitimate, isnt it?
the soviet union really thought that it would not dissolve itself when they were exchanging lands for their subjects and expecting it would not cause any conflict in the future
@@breedcrumbs ...yet
@@breedcrumbs its hard when your surrounded by 2 genocidal animals that lay claim to the land you have lived in for over 3 thousand years.
@@theyeening if you have some cursed ideas call me in 💀
One of your best videos, honestly. Fun and thematic goals, clever-but-not-full-sweaty play, solid commentary as always.
This is one of my favorite A to Z videos. Challenging campaign with some clutch moments and fun thematic goals.
21:05 quick tip: if you're trying to fight a heathen and they are allied to a co-religionist or a heretic, then use holy war as your casus belli. That way their allies will refuse to join.
Also on a side note, I think in this patch Ajam is more likely to go zoroastrian if it forms Persia.
Does it work if they're allied or just Defender of the Faith?
@@poldi2233 who are allied? Can you be more descriptive?
@@poldi2233 let's say you're Byz, you're allied to muscovy, and youre trying to fight ajam. However muscovy is also allied to ajam. If you use deus vult CB to ajam, then muscovy will refuse to defend ajam but wont help you either, and the alliance between muscovy and Ajam will automatically be canceled as soon as you declare holy war on ajam.
Similarly let's say you're catholic austria allied to catholic Castille. Then you're trying to fight hussite bohemia. However bohemia is allied to Castille as well. When you declare holy war on bohemia, Castille will refuse to defend bohemia or help help you, and the alliance between Castille and bohemia will automatically be canceled.
This the most powerful thing about Deus Vult CB, and it helps it stay relevant even if you have more advanced CBs like imperialism, nationalism, or spread/crush revolution.
Though things do get funky with confucianism and tengri. If a confucian country has a form of Buddhism as syncretic/harmonized faith, and you're a nonbuddhist allied to a Buddhist, your Buddhist ally will refuse to help you against that confucian country. A Muslim ally will refuse to help against Muslim enemy if youre nonmuslim; Christian ally will refuse to help against Christian enemy if you're nonchristian; etc.
As a note, when listing off your goals, the first goal is the "Primary" goal, the second goal is the "Secondary" goal, and the third goal is the "Tertiary" goal. And I suppose if you ever had a fourth goal the word for that would be "Quaternary".
🤫
no thirdy goal
I hope they add more missions and achievements to Armenia, Egypt and Persia. Specially missions for Persia going zoroastrian or Safavids becoming Persia.
You need Adana because it is the region home to the Kingdom of Cilician Armenia and had a significant Armenian population up untill the early 20th century when the Turks "somehow made them disappear"....
Turks did little trolling
@@selahattinkaskc8668 we do a little trolling in Anatolia.
@@amei653 How can you call a genocide trolling? It is disgusting.
@@tigranvoskanyan4125 it's a dark joke. Like how Americans do little trolling in the Middle East.

It took me until this video to realize hawk was only playing nations with unique national IDEAS. Before I thought he was playing nations with unique MISSIONS and a bunch of extra ones.
6:00 *Adana (aka cilicia) was an Armenian exclave from the time of the crusades. It was an important ally of the crusaders in the region.*
This series is amazing. I almost want to see A to Z in the opposite or random order now lol
Congrats on 100k Dr. eggman! Can’t wait to experience more PAIN in 2023!
Your Channel is honestly one of the greatest to ever grace youtube, from the beginning it was so high quality, and it just keeps getting better. Can’t wait for 200k in the near future
Just wait til he gets to Naxos.
Congrats on 100k, well deserved
I think needing Adana province is base on historical borders of Cilician Armenia. It was a kingdom formed in todays southern Turkey in Taurus Mountains region in 1198 after the Seljuqs had conquered Armenian region in the Caucasus and the Armenians moved away from said area.
The only channel I've paid to subscribe to, glad to see others seeing what I see. Keep up the good work Mr Hawk!
Congrats on 100k!
never forget genocide of the dinosaurs 😔😔😭😭🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🇹🇳🇹🇳🇹🇳🇹🇳
As Khmer, switch to a nation with a red map color to become Khmer rouge
Adana (and the whole region around known as cilicia) was home to the "little armenia" principality and and later kingdom which was ruled by Armenians after collapse of byzantine power after battle of manzikert and turkish takeover of inner Anatolia. Little Armenia existed from 1080-1375 under 3 different dynasties and was a safe place for Armenians when Armenia was under foreign rule
Armenians also had a lot of power in byzantine empire before manzikert, they were soldiers governors and some emperor's had Armenian heritage
Congrats on 100k! Btw, I saw a video about deleting horse early. If you want to go into early war anyways, it's probably better to keep them with 0 maintenance, utilize them in the first war, then consolidate/delete them after the war is over. Deleting them is a theoritical loss on 1k manpower and 25 recruiting gold. Utilizing them in the first war might help you get more decisive victories, saving precious manpower early on.
Good video keep op the good work😂❤
Lol! Loved the abject look of disgust and horror @ 9:06
Congrats on 100K Red Hawk, you earned it
Waiting so much for a new dlc / update on caucasus so that paradox can give karabagh a mission tree, as well as puting the right cultures in anatolia.
I believe that Karabakh in game needs good diplomats from the very beginning. In real history, the actual state lasted until the 18th century only thanks to diplomacy. In EU4, he is taken almost immediately by QQ
In Ante Bellum mod there is a cool mission tree for Cilician Armenia and there the culture
eligion map is more historically accurate. I recommend to play this mod)
Congrats on the 100.000 that is amazing. It is really cool that I saw the chanel grow, I think I started flowing you on a Tenante (the spice boys) video and I remember seen some of your truly old videos too ^^
Hawk you have been doing work over the holidays mate, much appreciated
Adana is the location of the Medieval Armenian kingdom of Cilicia for about 300 years. Most likely why it is needed for armenia
You skipped Dai Viet. When are you playing them?
I must say Red Hawk I watched your Austria vid recently and got inspired and oh my oh my, having a blast, might be the fist time I can form HRE
Congratulations!! Love the channel
Been a fan sense 12k keep up the good work
Those diplo ideas coming in clutch
i may be a relatively new subscriber only subbing during 1.31 but im glad how far you went from 50k to 100k subs!
In my latest playthrough of Karabakh (still a while ago) I conquered almost all of Persia and even started pushing into Northern India but because I didn't deal with the Ottomans they still came to get me. Though from my experience switching your home trade capital to Persia can be beneficial once you have more land in the node and if you want to dev the Renaissance one of the best provinces is Ganja since it has cotton+drylands but it is wrong culture and wrong religion at the start which can be problematic.
early gang. congrats on 100k, man.
best vid ever (def didnt get released 30 sec ago)
It may be tough to dev in EU4, but man, the South Caucasus and Kurdistan (essentially the extent of your lands here) are God's own country. Stunning landscapes. No wonder everyone has been fighting over them since the beginning of time (yes, I know there is more to it than the scenery).
What countries make up those areas now? Georgia? I'd love to go!
@@JayKay-on2gr Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. Dangerous part of the world, but the scenery!
I'd love to see some kind of overview video for 100K, like most painful challenge, least favorite nation so far (Dali), etc
Congrats on the subs and keep up the good work !
cheers
Great work
As a karabakh Armenian I appreciate this video
Azat Artsakh
The furthest Armenia expanded was during the Artaxiad dynasty, during which they expanded all the way to Adana. Probably why that's required to form (Greater) Armenia
Also in Middle Ages in Cilicia region (the province Adana and adjacent areas) existed the Cilician Armenian Principality and further a Kingdom which was eleminated by seljuks.
nAIce :).
congrats for 100K
gz for 100k^^
I guess Adana is a requirement to form Armenia because the Armenians controlled it for a long time in the Middle Ages after the Crusades and it was a centre of trade and commerce for the Armenians, and many Armenians used to live there.
very nicely done... should do an iceland playthrough... imo the hardest in the game, being the vassal of a personal union is ridiculously hard to break free...
You’re easily the most entertaining EU4 player I watch. I can’t wait for Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays! Keep it up brother.
Congrats man🎉
I love your mustache. I’ve just started growing mine out!
DUDE! This campaign was awesome. You should get an achievement for what you did here
Congrats for the 100K 🎉
Well, acording to a quick search, Adana was part of Greater Armenia so that would fit.
"Of course we have the same ideas BUT THE MISSIONS - Are the saaaaame!" I swear I died
Well done mate, you are a star.
Tell me you haven't played ante bellum without telling me you haven't played ante bellum re: adana
Is it just me or has the AI received a huge buff in terms of diplomacy. They manage to alliance lock me so often it's increadible
Congrat for 100k sub my Villain bro.
Adana was a key part of the Kingdom of Armenia Minor/Cilicia after many Armenians migrated to the region after the Battle of Manzikert
As Khmer, conquer all regions, culture groups, and trade nodes you start with provinces in, 'cause idk I'm lazy. :l
Common Red Hawk W, congrats!!
I wonder if Red Hawk will have dreadlocks by the time A-Z is finished.
this video is going to be legendary
I've tried the campaign before and it is an absolute struggle, I'm impressed
Since the Khmer Rouge is infamous and rouge means red, then why not as Khmer conquer all other red nations in south east asia
Congratulations on 100k subs!
Thank you!
I feel like will of the martyrs should be buffed to 5 percent discipline.
as khmer try to take a province in france or with francien culture because khmer's flag is lie the cambodian one which was a french colony
Wait, If those videos are recorded in advance, does this mean our suggestions on how to play the next nation are useless?
Think he goes by his discord for that mostly. Also prerecording well in advance for the holidays is good practice so content doesn't get interrupted. Even then most youtubers record in advance, it's not a live format.
Karabakh is the hardest nation in eu4...
Beloozero:" Am i joke to you?!"
congrats dude
I believe this is one of the most successful rivalry vs Ottomans in a while, 👍
Adana used the be the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia up until ~1300
It was a really interesting run.
hey Hawk, i hope you get luck next year otherwise you'ill experience great amounts of pain
I genuinely thought you were going to fail.
as Khmer you can have 20% autonomy in territories, i challenge you to do it; you can also get the empire of china by first claiming it and then converting to hinduism.
10% from mahayana wonder (through a mission u can make use of the buddhist wonders)
15% from hindu wonder in india
10% from expansion ideas
10% from government reforms
20% from eco hegemon
5% from trade company investment
adds up to;
70% reduction base autonomy in territories is 90%
20% autonomy in territories.
Anyone else notice that the Ottomans allied Muscovy at 17:08
nice mustache!
you remind me on younger me XD
try to turn a country into stateless society and show us how it works :D
Does that mean you have to do all those things you said if paradox beat you to 100k
As Khmer, conquer the whole of France as they used to control them.
Lol for a sec Otto was allied with Muscovy
congrats for 100k 😂
Good ol karabakh
100k is epic.
I love this nation
You can dev in Ganja.
Play Shirvan if u want to try something difficult
You can do it! 250k incoming. Say that in that voice from the movie, you know the one.
The ottomans even called in their allies, wtf. I’m so glad their nerfing Otto unit pips.
Fantastic)
Wanna hear real pain I tried forming Manchu I was half way there then I get the dreaded pop up sir we have been declared war upon Korea next thing I know 40k Chinese and Korean troops flood my level 1 fort I couldn't do anything it was 1450
as kmer. start by revence on vietnam and then conquer frances coast or region :D
Even if adana had a huge armenian population at the time similar in size to the greeks in smyrna/izmir until uh ottomans turned to turkey and "delt with" the non turks there.
But it was rarley under the control of a armenian state like the one between rome and persia. So I still think it makes more sence to gain perma claims on it once you form armenia instead of a requirement to form armenia.
*new video idea: start as trebizond. Core all 5 pentarchy cities (constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria and Rome). Own or have non-tributary subject(s) own entirety of the balkans and anatolia*
very nice
