At the recent RM Sotheby's auction, there were many iconic and legendary auto machines that date back from as early as the 1930's to the current 2000's.
.
.
Needless to say, of the variety of vehicles up for auction there were a few that caught the attention of many collectors. Some automotive masterpieces that held an admirable list of past awards and distinguished trophies.
.
.
The moment that the entire audience had been waiting in anticipation for ever since its announcement back in Spring of 2018. The attention garnered revolved around one particular model, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.
.
.
This model is only one of 36 GTO's ever built and was auctioned at the recent auction held on August 25, 2018.
.
.
The final sale price of this astonishing #23 model of the Ferrari 250 GTO closed at $44,000,000 + $4,400,000 in buyer auction related fees. This auction sale breaks the previous world record as the most expensive vehicle sold at public auction compared to the last publicly sold GTO that went for $38,000,000.
.
.
As a select group of vehicles and their respective owners, it's no wonder that the legendary Ferrari 250 garners an attention that few automobiles can command.

I was _gonna_ bid, but was having a bit of trouble selling my old sofa on Craigslist and couldn't quite come up with the cash. Bummer.
LOL! Maybe next time.
😂😂😂😂😂
I would not sell the old sofa, better put it in the future Ferrari section of your garage
No lowballs on the sofa, he knows what he's got.
lmao!
For everyone that’s confused by the title: car sold for $44mil + auction house fee (usually 10% of the final bid) which is $4.4mil = $48.4mil
I have one at home. It’s on display on the shelf.
Yours will probably be driven more to boot. XD
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 thats a big shelf
Lol
XD 😂 😂
A model 250 GTO?
I love the Ferrari legacy, but even breathing the air in that auction hall would bankrupt me!
take a shot every time he says 41 million
I csnt evrn tuypr amu mir
joyusa 31 22 times
and your toyota will turn into that car for free
Meanwhile at supermarket choosing between $1 or the expensive $3 butter
The great thing about this car is that most of the people who has it, still drive it. Some notable owners are nick mason and Lawrence stroll, who has 2.
Mason has some Beauties
He could have bought Canada for that much, he made the better deal.
in 1810 yeah
I don't think so..
@John Smith ...................dddduuurrrrrrrrr.....it's ass hole humor.
An asshole in every group...🙄
yes he did lol.
I like how they made a mistake first by putting 3.5 mil instead of 35 mil.
Yea. Japan sure had different prices as well.
Lol he even offered it for 43,000 and real fast COUGHT his mistake 8:58
he adds 250,000 dollars and everyone laughs... hahahahhahahahahah... omg
I know right?
....I dream of the day when I can laugh at a quarter mil.
still more exiting than the whole f1 season
It definitely sounds better.
I'm watching this video with $25 in my pocket 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes but how much in the bank?
Best comment of the year 😂
That’s beautiful, congratulations to the owner
Thanku
Man, I'm so sad I missed this one. I was gonna buy it, but my Dodge broke down on my way to the auction and didn't make it... 😑
I bid $43 million, but I had to go to the toilet.
When I came back it was sold.
Shouldn't have had that damn Pepsi before the auction.
I got to see this car in person a few months before the auction. Gorgeous ❤
That's more money than I'm ever going to see in my entire lifetime and probably two or three generations after... FOR ONE CAR. XD
/M0ther_bra1ned/ same😂😂😭😭
Time to get your game up.
thats more than i will ever see in 44 lifetimes if i work till 80
That's why they call it .....living the dream.
That car is worth more than human life for its history and rarity and just how special it is.
Best auto purchase I ever made. The good chaps at Dothan werks keep the car in tip top.
Cheers
at 3:30 he spoke italian 'quarantuno milioni di dollari contro di te' :-)
qrantuno ha detto
there's a red car in space right now
Elon musk what goes up must come down
@20GRIZZ20 just a joke dumbass
This car is history
Yea ik its a tesla
That’s red Tesla Elon musk
I can not wait till Arizona RM Auction 2023
Great deal .... Well purchased !!!
1,000,000 per bid, this is different gravy. I'd be careful holding up a camera 🎥 in case they take a bid 👏🏼
Thanks Ian
I saw a beautiful highly detailed 250 GTO 1/8 scale model priced at £6K. It seems like a bargain of the century and probably more mobile compared to this real legendary car that is now just a museum artefact 😂
I'm just going to buy a new one
most of them all still get driven, and raced :o
I just finance it for 1 million years
Zero down😁
Lol
Love the car but love 48M$ much more
I’m always amazed at the enormous gap on what a human can make to afford this..
I bet they won't even drive that car. It will sit in a showroom while the owner has a very expensive glass of wine and smoke a cigar just admire the vehicle.
Yep
I mean driving a 48 mil $ car probably isn't the best idea.
They have to drive it once in a while or the engine will cease
I do that looking at my Chevette
Jesus, what a beautiful car. Timeless and all class.
It shouldn't have a millionaire but a museum e un patrimonio del Umanità
Thats just insane...
incredible
I was gonna buy a Kia Forte but this might be my next car.
Wow!!!.... And I'm sitting here dreading getting new tires on my 2003 chevy s-10!!!😲
All millionaires sitting in one place
2:00 price display fail on the left.
In the 1960's I saw two GTO's compete at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash against 3 Cobras. Does anyone know where they ended up? I had heard that at one time Innes Ireland was offered one for less than 10 thousand but it was just another old race car to him.
I was gonna bid $49 million to give it to my wife and then I remembered she prefers it on pink.
How
Awesome
Type in
Salvador Mundi Auction
That is how it is done

this is the gdp of Botswana
The Way my bank account works..I have my checking in my savings and it takes 3 business day.. 🤪😂
Damn I hit bid but my internet cut out. Missed it by a few hundred thousand
why am I watching this, i cant even afford of its tire bolts
250 GTO chassis 3413 GT is the queen of 1962 TRIESTE-OPICINA HILLCLIMB. LUALDI GABARDI at the wheel of 3413 GT won a legendary TRIESTE-OPICINA HILLCLIMB. An overall win with new speed record of the race
Meanwhile in India. Kid works for $1 a day..
@@paulgilhuis1 =))))))))))))
And your point is??
@@420cm his point is in india everyone works , they are not like him waste product. And how many years it will take for him to buy $48 million car🤔.
@@prasunsingh7134 not just in India theres lots of countries like that
@@specialed4564i know bro but pointing out one country is not good.
Woooooww !!
Legend of Lermand Winner
I was gonna bid but my wife call me on the phone remembering we have to pay house loan first!!!
Huge money but that auction had all the excitement of a caterpillar race.
Imagine the commissions payed by the seller and the buyer it’s usually 12% unless negotiated.thats almost 20 million Dollars auction house profit in10 minutes. The whole deal is mind boggling!
Holy Grail Car
so it was sold for 44 mil not 48, wrong title
Please dont be lazy to read .... U look stupid u know...
more money than I'll ever make in multiple lifetimes
The gentlemen able to buy this car grew up with it dreaming about it. Once that generates passes away, I do not believe that car will be worth as much. I am in my 20’s and cars like the McLaren F1 and MC-12 will probably some of the top priced cars.
Thats crazy
Somehow it`s insane,but I love it!
This car has the power to save the world from an apocalypse. Has unrivaled technology modern day cars still can not match. Has a ride to die for like riding on a cloud
crazy
After I win Powerball I will be back for a 250LM or a P3/4.
P3/4 the best.
Me too brother.
There’s this, and about 20% of the ENTIRE WORLD is STARVING...
For someone like Bezos or Bill Gates whose net worth is say $50 Billion dollars, spending $44 Million is like someone with a $200,000 net worth spending $192 dollars
I stopped bidding when they got to $35 million
How much did the chrome p1 go for?
Nuts!
Damn. This is the one I was going to buy, but I forgot my wallet at home that day.
I'm the Ian that he was on the phone with.
Nah just kidding, I'm just a humble mariner 😁
Whatever "floats your boat"! Lol
Sono macchine da museo tutti dovrebbero avere la possibilità di ammirare questa meravigliosa macchina.
Beautiful car, with Great provenance.
So many children going hungry...
I just crashed one of these … on gran Turismo sport haha!
20 million on gt sport :O
for how long did u save up money?
I didn't have to buy the car. it was on a daily race to use for free brands hatch I believe it was
@@WiR3DGaMiNG just bought mine. Had to sell a couple of lancia's and LMP1 cars. 250 gto has so much more grip than other cars of the time.
Well considering that Leonardo Da vincis painting, The Christ sold for 450 million this looks like a bargain!
And i thought $1000 for my 96 Dodge Ram was too much 🤣
Mine went on the forza horizon 4 auction house for only 3,000,000 credits. what a rip off. I'm assuming. Not sure what the exchange rate is.
Che MERAVIGLIA.
Literally sold for more than its weight in gold ahahaa
"Easy certifiable" 1:12 Thank God! What a ripoff if it wasn't!
Me sitting here, wondering how much 44 mil dollars actually is…
It's one car.
Auction is like a wake
What’s it worth when the frame rots out?
Craigslist add: Ferrari for sale!! originally paid $44 million dollars, asking $2500 frame needs welded.
Wtf.. Final Bid was 44million and wrote 48million in caption..
48 includes the "buyers premium" which goes to the auction house for their fee/cut.
Just Bought By Saudi Prince $58,000.0000
Did the driver come with the purchase?
hello this is my shoe - cost 5 $
hello this is Cr7 shoe - cost 50 000 $
-He wants to win, I think I'm gonna drop 48 for this one.
-48 grand?
-48 million.
was that Stroll i seen down the back
Forgot one zero when the bid first started lol
I have one. It’s still in the hot wheels package tho...
$44 million plus $4 million in auction fees is just insane.. Even if I had a billon dollars I still wouldn't spend that much on any car.
Imagine spending 70m for car u won't drive at all
@@hottiemcscottie5952 Right!.. Even if it was a 1 of 1 never to be made again!, it's getting driven and it will be USED!. LOL
I don't "Collect" anything to just let it sit around looking good!, I enjoy everything that I've collected to the fullest and don't care if it depreciates the value of whatever it is. That's the whole reason I bought it lol.
Auctions like this aren't even about the car. They are bidding just for the thrill of bidding higher than their peers. If they were privately buying the same car they wouldn't even pay 4 million for it.
@@epicon6 not true, this is what these cars are worth, they're all bid by people behind those phone calls who stay away from the live event because the excitement and adrenaline can cause them to overbid due to excitement, staying at home or their office desk can keep them calm and just pay the most they're willing to pay for said item.
I have one too in a basement drawer its a slot car. Whats the bid 48 million
History
Hey! My hand's up over here...
How hard could it be to get the tilte right? the car sold for $44M and not 48
Johan Johansson IKR People are stupid!
Wow u guys so stupid and very lazy to read... Seriously u look stupid with this comment..😂😂😂
Iam watching this video with 100 rupees in my pocket which is equal to 1.33 $🤣🤣🤣😥😥😥
Whats the mileage again?
Now, was it sold for 48 or 44million?
The additional $4million was the buyer's premium.
How much does the seller get
WONDERFULLLL one of most beautiful car in the world !!! thats all !!
didnt it sell for 44m tho?
Whew, the bidding really stalled out there at the end.
