    This is an awesome idea. I make quilts and sometimes it hard to find the exact shade desired. This helps immensely. Blessings to You! 🦋🦋🦋

    Hi Ann , tomorrow Sunday March 6 , I will painted my fabric, using this technique, already found all the products, the drop cloth double board I found at the Ace Hardware store . A very, very large piece for only $8.00 😳😳🕺🏻🕺🏻, so know is just follow your instructions. I already pre cut , every piece of the shirt I will put together for my husband , because makes easy to paint small pieces on the shape I will use for the shirt . Thanks for the help🖐🖐❤️❤️❤️

      Great! You may already know this; Unless you stay-stitch the bias, be careful to handle the cut fabric pieces gently as you paint so not to stretch any cut areas. I hope you will let me know how it goes. Find my email on my website.

    Beautiful project and really clear instructions!!! I want to make a smooth painted fabric, to resemble a sunset on a large piece of cotton muslin. I plan to make it darker (more highly saturated than yours) and then applique another design using fusible interface. Would this work if I omit the drop cloth, dilute the paint less and fuse other fabric onto it?

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  Рік тому

      Thank you. I have several other videos on painting sky and other fabric, as well as applying fused fabric onto painted fabrics. What you describe sounds like it would work, just be aware that whatever surface you have under the fabric may leave a design and/or bubbles. I usually paint my fabric stretched in a frame. As I always suggest - Experiment!

    how about painting on mesh/stretchy fabric? do you feel like a different technique should be used or this is fine?

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  3 роки тому

      I always say give it a try (at your own risk) but I'm sure there would be techniques to use on fabrics that are not a smooth, 100% cotton. The paint needs to flow and not just be absorbed. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    Hi!can I use any acrylic paint or do I need a special dye for textiles?

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  3 роки тому +2

      I prefer textile paint, but thinned to the correct consistency, acrylic would work too. I rarely use dye for any of my artwork, I love Jacquard Textile Color paint. Thanks for the question and for watching!

    Hi Ann, loved your tutorial,can I use aluminum foil instead of the top cloth??

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  2 роки тому

      I say give it a try, the results may be different but will probably still give a great painted fabric.

    Hi....LOVE the video......could I apply this method to a tshirt also ?😊

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  6 місяців тому

      That's sounds like a fun idea. I haven't tried this technique on a garment. I would think that as long as you can us a t-shirt form inside or stretch the t-shirt onto other cardboard it may work. Maybe test it on an old t-shirt or piece of t-shirt type knit fabric. I would try first with the t-shirt or fabric dry and another wet, to see how the paint will travel/move over it. If you do this I'd love to hear about your results. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Should fine muslin fabric be pre-washed before the paint-pouring? Thanks!

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  3 роки тому +3

      I would suggest placing a drop of water on your fabric. If the water soaks in immediately it should be good to go but if the water beads up you may want to pre-wash. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    Do you need the drop cloth or can you use a scrunched plastic bag as well ?

    • @FiberDesignsbyAnn
      @FiberDesignsbyAnn  4 роки тому

      Great question... A plastic bag could work but because the drop cloth is a bit stiff it holds the creases and gives the texture. Give it a try, that's the best way to learn what works for you. Thanks for watching!
