Jlo did an awesome job as Selena, nobody can deny that because even Selena's mom and dad said they couldn't believe how similar Jlo did things like Selena. But,...because JLo was so good as Selena, we had high expectations for work she would do after, especially acting. JLo couldn't deliver as she did with Selena, and of course she couldn't. When doing Selena, Jlo had another human being to imitate, she had a lot of Selena's interviews, videos that she could study. She didn't have that when it came to other roles she did.
All this coming from a Jlo music fan.
Can she dance...absolutely, can she sing,...not too bad but not the best. How many awards has she won for singing or acting....? It speaks for itself.
I think jlo is a hard worker which I think that we can ALL respect that hustle, but without Selena dying not sure JLo would be JLo.
Jennifer was in my family , money train , Jack ,blood an wine ,before Selena so she was known an working hard ,,, Selena died with JLO in the movie both went global , she took the torch an reach the level Selena dreamed of ..
Honestly I knew who Selena was before JLo. When it was announced that a Jennifer Lopez was going to play her, I didn't know who JLo was at the time. Didn't see any of the movies she was in. JLo wasn't that popular. Did Selena's death open up doors for JLo? For sure. But I gotta say Jlo is hardworking and deserves the success that comes her way.

@@ky7300 the whole reason jlo got casted was because of Selena’s fame even after death to this day Selena is a household name in Hispanic households. Un like jlos canceled tour that was canceled because of low sales 😂
@@AlexR213 she got casted bcuz she was a known actress. Jlo gave life to Selena and introduced her to the world, after jlos started her singing career. Jlos portrayal is what people think Selena is as but it wasn't

Jlo is who she is because of herself, she always wanted to be a singer, dancer, actress. The film helped jlo pushed herself to pursue it. And Jlo helped Selena be known outside the Hispanic community Jlo introduced her to the world

@@rogeliocastillo4935 she was in living color popular show, had films with top actors, the movie Selena wasn't a hit a the box office but anaconda was came out 3 weeks apart. Also people started knowing Jlo because of anaconda and out of sight the Latino community saw her in Selena

I think your opinion will depend on where you grew up. JLo helped me discover Selena but I grew up up in NY. Both beautiful driven women and not sure why we need to worship this question in such a hurtful way. I have my own problem w JLo but no one can deny how driven she is and thia desire to rip someone apart for sport feels weird.
My mom brings this up a lot. But reality is NO. but she could’ve possibly have been a model. Although on the other hand it’s possible she wouldn’t have looked as good without the money for the personal trainers, healthy foods, nanny’s to take care of her kids to workout etc.

The world just knows who Selena is because of J.Lo that played her in the movie. Selena wasn't even that famous back then. I just came to know who Selena was becaise of J.Lo. they're both latinas but they have different styles, voices and everything. stop this shitty non-sense comparison once and for all. J.Lo was already a star before Selena's death and she's a hard-working woman so yes she would be this famous without Selena because she would record those hits of hers that y'all know, she would perform like J.Lo, which is her own signature. she wouldn't play Selena if Selena was Alive, but she would do many of those succesful movies of hers that y'al know. so make it make sense and stop with this shit.

Her acting career was definitely boosted by Selena's passing. You'd be delusional to not admit that.
I think Jennifer Lopez playing as Selena gave her acting career a huge boost. So, do I think she would be as famous as she is now if had not given the honorable part as one the most loved, beautiful from inside and out, Selena 💋, I don't think JLo would've been as well known and famous as she is now. But along the way as she became more famous we lost 'Jenny from the block', now we got that 'Jenny from the blocked'. Lol
I Think JLo Literally was the best person to pick up where Selena left off. At that time there was no real Latin Representation in Music, Tv and Film. When Selena died Jlo picked up her “Baton” and finished the race. Jlo did not let Selena’s contribution go to waste. She did such a good job that Selena was immortalized thanks to Jlo. Jlo broke Hollywood Barriers by being the First Latina to get paid $1 Million dollars. She was the first Latina to have a Hit Record and Number 1 Movie. She made it big a back up Dancer prior representing Latinas. She’s the literal inspiration behind Google Images. She performed at the Superbowl. She had the balls to speak Spanish at the White House even if she was nervous. She was a Co-Host at the Met Gala. She’s done so much for the entire Latino community as a whole in Hollywood. She did more than any other Actress would have done after landing the role of Selena.

It's because her whole career is based on Tommy Motola hating his ex wife Mariah Carey, and she doesn't sing most of her vocals.
