@Shayne Mostyn - Mobile Photography you sure, they have star trails enabled now - as soon as the phone was announced I was excited to see your astro review 😅
@@ShayneMostyn There are some pretty significant changes they haven't talked about; the speakers, microphones, battery life with new chipset. Even the camera. Samsung have really pushed the buzzwords like "200MP" etc but again, no mention of the brighter F1.7 aperture, sharper better quality lens on the main shooter etc, which really boggles me.
I find it better for astro than the standard pro mode. Simply because of the "sky tracking" fix. But I still prefer my camera. The phone is extremely sensitive to wind 😬
Never thought or knew that this would be possible. Most I have done is take pictures of my dogs and cats. But saw what the S23 can do of the moon and saw this RAW feature and that is pretty amazing.
Hi Shayne! Do you plan on doing a review of the S23 Ultra at any point? Your photography knowledge and tricks are unmatched by other UA-cam reviewers imo.
Thanks for the video, great shots. I'm a little confused why there isn't more star trails. When you say it takes 10 minute shots of 20 second duration. If the software then stitches them together, the trails over 10 minutes should look longer, or not? Thank you.
Thank you so much Shane I am glad I found your channel and thanks for that tip on moving the slider and holding your finger on the picture for the mobile version I have been wondering how to do that
As usual, it's a really great video. What about trying to add a dark frame or calibration frame stack to get rid of some of the haziness and light pollution.
Thanks mate. You could certainly do that and I probably give it a try into the season. Im not sure how it will go with the 4 minute difference in the stack alignment. But there is only one way to find out.
They both have pros and cons I think. I use the iPhone as I use Mac etc. The iPhone is better for video and day to day photography, but not by much. The Samsung is far better for astrophotography. The apps on the iPhone are plentiful and have great options for more creative images.
Mr Shayne i have a question!i have a dilemma between s23 and iphone 14 pro! Does the iphone 14 pro has the same feature for 4-10 minutes exposure for night photography? Dos the iphone 14 pro has a same mode for star trail hyperlapse?
I tried all the cameras in astro mode with the s22 ultra, the main issue with tha main was the focus, the stara were always out of focus do you think it can be fixed with manual focus? Now I bought the S23 Ultra, looking forward to try it witg 50 mp raw
I love apple and I am iPhone user but this all software options for astro surely shows apple is lacking and behind for sure and they should do something about it
Hello So I understand you leave the auto focus in auto mode (Yes or no) But do you know that we can control it? Just do it before switching it to astro mode, just like the white balance then after activate the astro mode But I did not manage to have a nice white point for the stars with this astro mode Thank you for sharing, I was waiting for your video a long time ago!
@@TheChameleon2008 I don't know, but during my tests, the focus in manual mode was around 0.8 and not in infinity at 1.0 hence my question about auto focus mode in step auto mode Because for me, it never worked well. It realizes the focus on a cloud, or a decor, but not on the deep sky.
You absolutely can. But I have found auto focusing within this app to be fine, it seems to work just like the pixel. The same cant be said for the camera app.
@@ShayneMostyn Thanks for your feedback So I don't even have to make a screen support to fix AF/EA we agree just launch the Raw expert app, switch to astro mode 4 or 7 or 10min and that's all? Thanks again, great to hear from you!
I'm truly looking forward to see you doing this with the s23 Ultra, especially cause i bought it myself haha
Not sure I will be mate. There isnt enough of an upgrade to make it worthwhile, especially for astro.

Wow, thanks
Thank you for the Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra tutorial. It's been awhile since the last one. Thanks again from California.
My pleasure!

Omg it's Eisenberg!!! BTW you're brilliant mate!
HAHAHA I got called this about a year ago too. Thanks for watching mate
After the new update we don't have anymore the 10 min option, only short medium long, long been 30 sec. What can I do?
I am also an astrophotographer. Maybe if you are in an area of darker skies with less light pollution the 10 minute might work a lot better.

So shall i get pixel 9(not pro/ xl) or s24( not ultra) for astrophotography
How to do this! I use the raw app use the show stars let it stand for 10mins no moving and no stars on the picture! Why?
If you can help my PRO RAW cashing on galaxy note ultra ??
even if I understand because I am French I love your videos, hello from Paris
Thank you
Will this feature astro mode on the Expert Raw app come to the S21 Ultra?
Doesn't look like it atm does it 🤣
It has for me
Love your videos, Shayne. Just a quick question if I may. Where's the best place to store all your pics? Cheers.
Depends on your situation mate. I back up all of mine on NAS HDD with all of my professional work images.
Hello, is the expert raw feee and cool for s23 plus?
You definitely give great lessons! Thks
Will you be getting the Samsung S23 Ultra?
Will you make a video with the s23 ultra?
Any tips it's on auto no light but my whole screen is white to much ev or iso?
Which one would you pick for photography s22 ultra or iphone 13 pro max?

Did you tried to capture 108mp photo with expert ROW ? If you did let me know how to capture
Which is good btwn iphone 14 pro and s23 ultra for ASTRO photography
S23 Ultra
This is amazing on my fold 4
Are photos limited to 12MP like in pro mode?
Can you do more videos on the results of camera expert raw of samsung? Like other tricks of using it as well?
Nothing that worked the way I hoped. There will be more soon though
Will you do a test on the 23 Ultra?
Not sure, still undecided. I dont feel there is enough of an upgrade for what I do to warrant the purchase.
Can I do it (with expert raw) using samsung s21 ultra ?
Certainly can
اتمنى ان تتم اضافة الترجمة للعربية 🙏
can we use astrophoto in note 20 ultra ?
What you expect from the new S23 ultra and the crazy high megapixel sensor? Do you it will be similiar in performance with the S22 in night time?
It shouldnt be any better. The 200mp will be binned in low light, just like every other phone. Im not sure its worth the upgrade for what I do.
@@ShayneMostyn thank you for the answer!

No 4 minute photo. But can do hyperlases manually with Even Longer or ReeXpose.
Good stuff!
Thanks mate
Hi can I use intervelometer on raw app, still make a time lapse?
Wait, what? No intervalometer on the iPhone camera app. Only one I know of is the one on Even Longer.
hi what is the program u work and the version ?
It's Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Yes want to see the S 23 test.

Interesting, I found it sharp at 0.7 but I have read others are getting it at .8 .9 and infinity.

Thank tou so much, I'll try for sure
@Shayne Mostyn - Mobile Photography Very true the focus varies if zoomed.

There is an app on ios called Nocturne witch does something similar, but not RAW
so then s23 ultra should show us the water on europa...
Better than iPhone?
Yes. Absolutely
I try use it and it doesn't give me any stars. It just gives me a light sky...
Do you shot in place, where too much light polution ?
I got the 23 ultra and it says its not available when trying to launch it from the camera app.
This isnt the camera app though. Its a different app. Not sure if the app is available on the 23, I dont have one yet.
@@ShayneMostyn it doesent work either with the expert raw app or inside the regular camera app. Says its not supported. Heh.
