By the way, you have so many sons and an adult daughter who looks sporty that it seems to me that your family could build a cottage over the summer with their own efforts. Or at least a dacha. 5:48 Who cut that sheet of roofing iron mate? Looks like it was done with an angle grinder, while suspended from one of the trusses, during a force 10 gale. Just for future reference, if you score the sheet with the rear-most tooth of a panel saw, parallel with the profile, you can bend it a couple of times and it’ll break off, real straight & clean, with no wandering and no hand hackers.

As an American with insane home prices, I can relate to your anxiety about having a place to live that is truly your own. It may be seen as semantics, but I don't think it's fair to blame capitalism. Rather, consumerism seems to be the culprit. It is still possible to build a good small house in the US for about $100k, which is approximately 2x the annual income of the average American. The problem is most Americans are more interested in living in huge, inefficient homes in exclusive zip codes than in relieving themselves of the bondage of a 30 year mortgage. That's not capitalisms fault.

In western Canada there are many homes like that on ski hills. We call them Acorn homes because of their shape (for those unfamiliar with Oak trees).
Where I ski some of them were built on post foundations with an east west axis. In the spring the snow would melt on the south side causing the weight of the unmelted snow on the north side to topple them over

I, too, wake up and exist through that panic, after many years of certain circumstances I just got out of. Now I’m on the road, looking for something small to pay in cash in order to save as much as I can, live frugally & find land in the US to also build on. That anxiety is very real and very debilitating. My daughter doesn’t quite understand and is worried…we’ve all been through a lot, just as so many have. She’s never seen follow through before; only chaos and uncertainty. Living like we are now, regardless how temporary, with these goals, she’s worried we’ll never accomplish them. The conditioning is very real. I’m fighting through it, myself, with the anxiety and worry, too. But…I’m fighting through it, nonetheless. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank you for sharing your anxieties & your success & subsequent calm & peace after your own efforts to provide for yourself.

And do I have to buy here in US were I am at the superadobe tubes and take them with me to build in South America? I am happy for your hard work and passion. I hope you would not be at risk for mobilization. It was a very risky decision to go back to Russia at this point. I hope you and your family will be safe.

I think putting vapour barrier outside the wood structure is a mistake in this climate. when house heated vapour will have no way to go. and there is no ventilation gap either.

I'm no construction worker, but aren't the channels in the aluminum roof supposed to run vertically to minimize snow buildup?

With this design, the ribs need to run horizontally to bend with the arch. The angle of the roof is sufficient that there shouldn't be much build up. The size of the ribs at that angle won't have much effect on how much snow it holds.

I didn’t understand the purpose of the shipping container as it related to building your house. I saw it delivered but nothing else was shown or said about it. Would you please explain?
