People shouldn't have to risk losing their birds. The sport does need to be changed up to attract new pigeon enthusiasts as well. It is hard to make people change the way they do things unless there is good prizes or titles.

We had boat races in the 80s
That's a good idea to train pigeons on the sea so they win confidece.
