Sakuta being absolutely based for Mai to step on him and choke him between her thighs, and Mai being completely based to do it to him is one of the best couple dynamics I've seen in anime.

I think it's safe to say that Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai gave us the biggest "void". For me I guess it was just seeing how it would have been if somebody helped me growing up. Not only that but I envy the relationship between the characters. It made me reflect on the world and realize that the world is cruel.

Just binged the whole show last night because I saw this video and gave it a shot. Thanks for that.
It was a beautiful show and I loved the dynamic between Sukata and Mai, all the foreshadowing and callbacks were excellent, and of course Sukata was a gigachad throughout to put up with some of the shit he did.

This show was so genuinely touching, I thoroughly enjoyed it the entire way through and was satisfied that I'd finally found a good anime after binging like four in a row that were bad. And then I reached the end and it made me actually cry. Instant 10/10 score for me. The interesting premise, the realistic character reactions, and the relationship between the MC and her being realistic while also ideal really got me.
If anyone has any recommendations for other anime with a similar relationship (realistic while also goals) I'd love to hear them.

When you say similar relationship, what exactly are you looking for? Like do you just want another romance tear-jerker or are you looking for a romance situation similar to the sarcasm of Mai and whatever the MC’s name is.
There is an anime named Pet girl of Sakurasao, one of the most underrated anime i have ever watched so if you get time try it out, its worth it!!

Especially that bit about how problems we have growing up don't just magically disappear when we get older and it's our experiences that make us who we are, and how we interact with the world. So yes, it may be a "phase" but there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make it any less painful or difficult at the time when we are dealing with these issues. It doesn't make what we go through any less deserving of attention. As adults, it's our job to help guide future generations and be good role models for them. It's our job to show them compassion, kindness, integrity, and respect. Because how can we expect future generations to develop those traits if we ourselves do not practice them? If we ourselves do not show them empathy and brush them off as "just a phase" or teenage angst? If we ourselves do not show them respect, simply because they are younger?
Right from the very first episode, I loved how this anime put into words that social pressure, that "atmosphere" that too often suffocates us, stifles creativity and uniqueness, and excludes those who don't follow it? Growing up I always felt kind of like an outsider. Like everybody else had a script that I, for some reason, didn't. Maybe that was just my imagination, maybe others didn't avoid me or think me strange at all. Whether they did or didn't, I will never know, but regardless those feelings of social exclusion were for all intents and purposes my reality, and those experiences have shaped me into who I am today. I still feel like an outsider, like everybody has a script for how to socialize and make friends that I never received. I'm not really sure where I was going with this lol, I guess I just wanted to talk about my experiences growing up and one of the reasons I love this anime. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it!

Regular season of bunny girl tugs at the heartstrings. The movie hits it with a cannonball midway through and stomps on it with salt covered boots until 5 minutes before the end. And you look up from the puddle of tears that you now are and whimper "Well played."

This is the only anime that I want to rewatch yet fear that it will fill me with an extreme void because first it was absolutely amazing and second it showing me how I could've been if someone was there with me through my problems.

This is still my favorite anime of all time (not counting One Piece which I mainly read in manga).
This show hits hard, especially if you were an introvert teenager that could relate to the characters' problems like me when you watched it.
Combined with the movie, this is the most touching piece of japanese work I've ever witnessed, and I don't think I'll ever forget it...
I thought Kaede waking up her brother the same way every repeating day to be sweet and a good representation of a great brother/sister relationship.

ok i finished the whole series (anime and movie) and now I know why its called “Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai”

Ok lets break it down:
1: Rascal: It refers to the nickname given to Sakuta by his friends
2: Does not dream of: In the movie, Sakuta went back in time and the main component of it included going to sleep and *Dreaming* a better reality
3: Bunny girl senpai: The outfit Mai was wearing the first time Sakuta met her, Senpai because she attends his school and is a year older than him
Final Breakdown: Sakuta does not wish to *Dream* (the special type of “dream”) and forget Mai-san, I bet some meaning was lost in translation, but here is a more clear (but less cohesive and not as cool) title: “Sakuta does not want to forget Mai-san”

2 years later: after binge watching season 1 and the movie I wholly agree. This is a real gem and very smartly written. We get a clear romance that grows and partners that help each other. Let me shout that: PARTNERS THAT HELP EACH OTHER.
Because this story is not about the main character, it about the main couple who works on themselves as romance as well help each other in solving issues. There are no funny and stupid "oh, you are with another girl, you cheat on me" moments. You get "you want to help that girl, but you can't simpl,y do it alone, this is why I fucking help you. And because I want to sleep in your house as well."
This is very lovely and caring for the heart.

I listened to the ending music I found on spotify got hooked at 3pm listened to it for an hour tried watching the first episode gave up way too fast picked it up at 10pm again its now 4am it couldnt stop watching it and then cried at the end (its Wednesday). This anime isnt art its an experience a perfect one for sure. Kinda like a fever dream from which you dont want to wake up. Even though some things dont make sense you still love it and dont want it to stop.
Just go watch the movie it will make you cry but it will make the plot have more sense to it.
3 most painful (not sad or depressing one) scene in this anime:
1. Episode 3 where the guy say out loud his thought about Mai-san
2. Him in a bunny suit in the train station
3. Seeing him and Mai-san haven't kiss mouth to mouth yet
they did kiss but the anime didn't adopt to it

This show hit too close to home for me. I never really had enough confidence when socializing with other people because of my speech impediment. I have a sever stutter where my face would literally seize up and freeze when saying certain words and letters. Because of this, I went from an outgoing kid, to almost not talking to anyone that isn't my family.

There are 2 tracks in bunny girl senpai that fill me with raw emotion and they are fukashigi no karte and that beautiful little piano track that you played when summing up the show

Elozity same, i found the sinopsis of it on MAL pretty vague and so i decided to check the episode.
Its really good and i dont watch these kind of animes.

Ngl, that title caught me off guard to watch one of my top 5 anime of all time.
While Kaede DOES appear to follow the Eromanga route, there is a few key differences:
1. She is NOT in love with her brother, just really attached to him.
2. She has a REASON to be so attached other than plot convenience. He is LITERALLY her only connection to the outside world, and more or less the only person in her life besides cats.
Spoilers ahead
When her adolescence syndrome took affect, it damaged her in such a way that even hearing a cellphone ring frightens her. Where are their parents? Well, her mother is currently hospitalized after (something about Kaede's condition giving her a mental breakdown) and her father is taking care of mother, leaving their highly unstable daughter in the hands of their son.
He is LITERALLY the last person she has left (besides cats), and I think anyone would feel the same attachment as she fells for her big brother.
Overall, she is a FAR SUPERIOR character to all those other imouto tropes, and as a big brother myself, she really sets off my elder brother instincts.
So yeah, good character, great show, keep up the amazing work, RDNDOBGS 😊

Comparing Kaede and Komachi (hachiman's young sis) isnt really apple to apple. While it's Sakuta who take care on Kaede, Hachiman is being supported entirely by Komachi (even in his romantics life). That's happened because the main problem of each family is different : Kaede in Azusagawa clan and Hachiman in Hikigaya line
