I still can’t figure out how to show text while music is playing. 🙁 But if you play the song On Button A Pushed (instead of On Start), you can run a text string such as “Star Wars Theme” in Forever, though.
I'm almost ready to give up trying to implement a speech codec on the Micro:Bit. Currently it has a 1-cycle multiply on the CPU which is vital to LPC10 (rather it's 750bps VQ derivative) BUT they won't categorically say that it will remain. a 32 cycle multiply is far too slow. If they are still playing with the hardware, nobody is going to develop anything that can't just be dumped. I'm certainly not going to waste months only to discover that it won't work on later versions.... Maybe I should just develop it as part of MBed so that the BBC have their mind made up for them. I can see other picocomputer manufacturers liking speech as part of the IoT. It needs a voice so someone has to do it.
Hi Jakob, thanks for the feedback. Are you sure you are watching it fullscreen or perhaps you are on a mobile device? We film the code samples as 1080p exactly the same size we are reading them on our screen so they should be really readable on a desktop

Sorry if this seems a silly question but I am not an IT teacher but have been asked (due to staffing at our very small school) to deliver a block of lessons on the micro-bit.
Hi, Thanks for getting in touch. We now use the editor at pxt.microbit.org/ which is a newer version than the one on the microbit.org main website. It is being actively developed so changes slightly over the weeks. Where are you based Paul?
We don't currently have the code in python sorry, but if you are familiar with python then there are plenty of examples at microbit-micropython.readthedocs.io/en/latest/music.html

There is a workaround (which isn't quite as elegant as your original).
