In case some one needs to do a better easy way... Well, all I did was: Remove driver side wheel, 8 bolts from the subframe under the rack and pinion, two bolts and nuts from the rack and pinion, the steering column bar from R&P and only diver side steering tie rod. Wiggle R&P to pull it out (NO NEED TO REMOVE steering fluid lines) and walaa!!! a huge space to pull starter out complete. You're welcome.
thats wayyyy more work than needs to be done. i just replaced one yesterday for my nephew, still remove the driver side wheel for easier access. use a long extension to get past the cross member to zip out the top bolt then zip the bottom bolt out. pull starter from bellhousing then flip it around backwards then a little twisting and turning and itll drop right out the bottom right behind the crossmember. dont even have to touch the steering bolts at all. It took maybe 45 min to an hour (including parts store run)
On my 2008 G35x I disconnected the steering u-joint, took the bolts out of the rack, undid the drivers side tie rod, pried the rack back as far as I could get it, and the starter slid out thru the hole behind the drivers wheel. The solenoid has to be pointed to the rear and the starter comes out nose last.
No … forgot to add in video , you need to keep the steering wheel as straight as possible whenever disconnecting the steering shaft . Most cars have a slot so there’s only one way to reattach unless, it’s completely rotated one turn
@@bclauto1546I looked mine to the right. Now my steering wheel is slightly tilted to the right. And I don't feel like taking it back apart. Guess I'll drive it like that.
I removed my starter whole without removing the rack n pinion or the subframe. Really just have to wiggle it out from the front where the oil pan is. All those extra steps are unnecessary (08 g35 sedan)

Was it easy to get the 2 starter bolts out ?
@@corymontano2661 that's easy , the tricky part it's how to put them back .I just changed mine today and it's not that easy.
@@gallo2760 it is depending on how you did it I wish I would have uploaded start to finish
@@gallo2760 go look at my video
Great video bro! Thank you💯

Thanks much i was on it 3 days now after work and couldn't figure it out
The new starter wire wasn’t shorter then the oem?
I made mine this way the only thing I did different put glue on the plastic seal because it's really hard to put it back together with one hand.
Man would have been better if you demonstrated everything but good info
Did it knock your steering wheel out of alignment?
