    He is an EXCELLENT BEGINNER COACH ! Holy crap !
    You can tell he knows what he’s doing, not overwhelming with information or flexing his own knowledge. God I wish my coach was half as good at teaching. My coach is a decent fighter sure but his teaching ability was ASS. This guy is So Good

    • @TheAmazingTyagoman
      @TheAmazingTyagoman 3 місяці тому +8

      it is what it is my brother, teaching and fighting are too different things. As long as you're training with a coach with real fighting background (amateur or pro) I think that's good.

    • @mastertamer3695
      @mastertamer3695 3 місяці тому +1

      He's a pretty good coach, but I think he should focus on one thing at a time and explain things more thoroughly instead of trying to have her do multiple things at once. Like with her stance for example, he doesn't tell her about how wide her feet should be, so her stance is kind of bladed. And although it is a pretty basic thing, I think he should go over the basic jab and straight without any movement and practice like that for a while so her form can be worked out there and she doesn't get overloaded with too much new information, otherwise she's more likely to forget things. Same thing goes for moving forward, back, and sideways in her stance. I'm not saying he's a bad coach though, I just think she would benefit more from it. Also he might have sped things up a bit for the video so there's that too.
      edit: he does go over the bladed thing a bit so that's good, although he should have done it earlier

      I concur. It's hard to find a good teacher AND a good fighter. I've met so many masters who are excellent warriors but poor at communication and organization.

    • @otatopla7667
      @otatopla7667 3 місяці тому

      I disagree, she wouldve had better form if he would just explain properly why she needs to twist her legs to perform a cross, or why she need to step forward for a jab. Insteading of punching aimlessly for the first 6 minutes

      I was thinking the same thing, good coaching for sure. As I was writing this comment I was thinking he needs to explain kinesiology a bit and he explained to squash the bug with her foot while she threw the punches. My biggest lesson besides self-control and discipline from growing up training in kung fu was utilizing my body as a whole for my movements rather than just the limbs themselves and if you know you know how incredible and powerful that skill is for many things that aren't combating.

    That was a sick first lesson! Learning these foreign movements always take a few weeks to get comfortable with as a beginner. Harder punches come with familiarity and confidence, not just raw muscle. Incorporating footwork with the jabs is kinda like learning to play piano with both hands; gonna be real weird before they fall into sync, and calling out mistakes every time dials in where you're at.

    Hi Emi, I've also just started learning how to fight,. It's definitely something that makes you feel more comfortable and in control of your body as well as just safer overall! I particularly like MMA for the safety aspect, just cause of the allroundness (and I love kicking pads LOL)
    In terms of that jumping forward and not fully extending the arms: I had the same issue as you! I found what helped was sometimes just reaching my jab hand as far as I could towards the pads (not to hit it but just to see how far away I was) because then I knew if I needed to edge forward a bit or go back. Imagine you're just feeling out the range constantly, you'll see this quite often in professional fights too. You'll see that tentative jab that doesn't always connect but gives the fighter all the information they need to know about how far off they are (or too close!) I think sometimes it's very hard to understand how far we can actually punch and how much power to deliver behind it when we're still beginning. I hope this tip helps and your coach seemed really awesome so I'm sure he'll be able to guide you and overtime everything will just come more naturally.
    I really wish you so much luck and happiness learning this new skill! It's pretty epic to feel capable :)

    The coach seems decent. My only gripe is he didn’t tell her not to keep her fists clenched at all times. Anyone who has ever boxed knows you don’t stay tensed or you burn out faster and newbies don’t understand how to “loose fist” unless you tell them

      Muscles(particularly bulk)aren't as useful for striking in the conventional sense as many think, however they make a very big difference for grappling. Keep in mind bigger muscles use more energy so there is kind of a sweet spot can play a huge factor in regards to efficiency.

    You know, i've had 6 amateur fights (3-3) and Emi has pretty decent technique for a first timer! Flares her elbows out a little on the jabs which telegraphs the punch, and leaving her chin up high, but for a literal first time hitting the pads then that is nothing at all! I'm actually impressed how quickly she's picked it up, and she's not made the common mistake of first timers of bringing their feet together too

    The reason why its harder to snap your punches isn't because you aren't strong enough, (mostly lol) but because youre too close to your target. A punch is most powerful when it connects at the tip of your range :) Great work keep it up!
