Anime skipped very very important cut content about Satella
Some important cut content is
1) when subaru saw satella , his body feels overwhelming love towards satella .
2) Daphne mentioned subaru as sage candidate
3) satella was incompatible with Envy witch factor which cause dual personality disorder means satella and woe are two different entities, satella is kind one like in this episode but WoE destructive one like in s2 ep 9 ,
Every witch except echinda likes satella personality and hates WoE personality. But echinda hate both personalities of satella
3) for some unknown reasons both personalities of satella love subaru so much

This is why I love Re:Zero. 'Love Yourself' is something so simple, yet so hard to realize once you add Return by Death into the equation. I love how this handles the psychological burdens of RbD instead of just portraying it as an overpowered authority.
here Echidna and Satella are opposites, Echidna wants Subaru to porpusefully die and walk every different path that he can take in order to have all the information possible to get a "good ending", Satella in the other hand is saddened that Subaru has started to instrumentalize his Return by Death, killing himself every time things go bad. Sure the ability has that window to be used in that way, but that isn't the "intended" way. At least that's how I see it
If you notice when Subaru took Satella's hand he said the same thing he said way back in season 1 episode 1 the first time he died. He took Emilia's hand and said "I'm going to save you"
Satella also says he saved her
If you notice too, Satella here acting like Subaru in episode 13 of season 1, when he's saying that "You(Emilia) saved me" but Emilia have no idea because different timeloop, and then here Satella said the same thing about Subaru save her, but subaru have no idea

Fun fact : Satella's veil is see through but for some reason, Subaru can't see her face. Maybe because he's in denial of how she literally looks like Emilia.
Another fact : This is the most dangerous attempt suicide of Subaru. If he dies on this realm, he would ended up like Rem.
The problem with Echidna is that she has no concept of malice, yet her actions still produce atrocious consequences simply due to her curiosity.
Beatrice abiding by her contract and being lonely for 400 years was the result of Echidna's curiosity, not her malice. That same curiosity is was she is wanting to harness Subaru to satiate.
It's a very risky deal. It makes sense for him to decline.
Rather, I would say that he is clinically a psychopath. She cannot empathize with other people.

I don't think it's that she has no concept of malice, she just doesn't apply it to most of her actions even if they're heinous because satisfying her curiosity is always the end goal and to an extent she gets what she wants regardless.
What I've gathered about the witches is that they all have positive traits brought to their very extreme. There's no malice behind their deeds but instead an intense obsession. None of them are inherently evil but their logic is so distorted, that it's to the point of being harmful to the world.
For Echidna, her overwhelming curiousity makes her greedy.
For Typhon, her overwhelming sense of justice makes her prideful.
For Minerva, her overwhelming compassion makes her wrathful.
For Sekhmet, her overwheming power makes her slothful.
For Carmilla, her overwhelming empathy makes her lustful.
For Daphne, her overwhelming generousity makes her glutinous .
For Satella, her overwhelming love makes her envious.
I highly recommend to go back to episode 3 of season 2 and listen to Echidna's introduction to the witches. There's a lot to dissect there

Man, these just solidify the basic theory of Satella's time shenanigans cuz if Subaru can RBD using his authority (or witch factor, idk if he already had it or was given by Satella), then it stands to reason probably Satella had similar authority herself.
She probably killed other witches to get power to summon Subaru & given him the authority of RBD.
So past life Satella & Flugel are this life's Emilia & Subaru. In sealing envy, Flugel's Japanese soul returned back to reincarnate in his original world & Satella just wanted him to live his life, which he wasn't before getting transferred so transfer happened at the optimal point & gave him character development.

the channel "Aninews" does amazing amazing missed details from books to show and he has an video for every episode in the anime adapted from the Light Novel. the amount of details in this specific episode is so big. it would be worth watching every video per episode to have a decent understanding and the depths of world and character building of what everything means, the tea party video was amazing to watch , highly recommend it. for example subaru couldnt see Satellas face because of her veil. but it was Subaru who subconsciously put it there in the first place to shield his heart in a way, that wasnt explained in the show
My favorite part of this episode is how it recontextualizes the first two arcs of the series. Now that we know the Roswaal contracted Elsa and Meili, I wonder who the client was that sent Elsa to steal Emilia's brooch and thus making sure Emilia and Subaru cross paths? Or why was a dangerous person like Meili in the village in the second arc and causing havoc with the mabeasts, which ended up making Subaru respectable in the village and among Rem and Ram?...
I thought that was Roswaal behind that too, but I guess not

When I initially watched this episode I remember instantly connecting Roswaal to the 2nd loop's Elsa encounter/attack at that pub, as well as the witch cult attacks on his mansion. It's been so long that I can't remember if that is confirmed though.
Something really interesting as well was that he finally seemed to drop the act, removed his clown make up and stopped speaking in that melodic way. It was as if Subaru was finally talking to the actual Roswaal and not a mask/character.

Well... yes and no. In novels it is explained but since it could be explained in future seasons maybe it is spoiler.
Trial last time was to show Subaru to value his life more, confirmed by Felix saying "Subaru youre leaving behind everyone you cared for, forcing the pain and suffering on them". Then Minerva saying something similar this ep.
It took Satella this ep to dumb it down for Subaru for it tog eth through to him Lol the RbD ability was a gift but Subaru just abuses it and defaults to it, disregarding himself..

nah Otto's punch wasnt replayed 6 times, he just hit Subaru with that Hakuto no Ken - JoJo style powerup. "OP Otto".
Also Beatrice's book isnt the same as Roswaal's, its stunted copy of it like the Cultists' books. Beatrice mentioned before how it stopped showing her her future and when Subaru threw it it had blank pages for a large part of it. Probably ties into the whole "who will you pick" thing, so I believe (aside from the book copy being stunted)
you need to rewatch the conversation with Satella and the other witches. It really seemed like you lost a lot of stuff xD

Satella actually has some split personality thing going on. She and the Witch of Envy are separate personalities. Also, they cut out some of the stuff that Satella told Subaru. Here’s it.

Edit: Also some cut content. The witches, except for Echidna hate the Witch of Envy, but do not hate Satella. But for some reason, Echidna hates both.

One of the major things cut in this episode was the clarification that the "Witch of Envy" and "Satella" are separate personalities
There are more crazy anime but Re: Zero is like dragging episodes then like gut punch twists of craziness. I love the show for it
The danger level and battle strength of the witches is not a simple thing because there are good matchups and bad matchups, strengths and weaknesses to most of them. And as strongly implied here the history and motivations of the witches seem to be different from what we were initially led to believe Nevertheless:

I feel you Ange, if I were in Subaru's position, I would take the deal with Echidna without a doubt. I'd fall for this woman all the time. She's just too charming
Note that as Roswaal said last few episodes, he does die when he dies everytime, or does not get whatever he wants whenever subaru resets, cause its a different him, so it cant be for personal gain. It means he wants something not for him, but something to happen even if he cant see it or if he has to die just for it to have a better chance to happen in other world
After this episode I stopped seeing any of the witches as “evil,” in regards to their intentions at least. If you look at it objectively RBD could be meant as a last resort. It primarily functions as a deterrent to Subaru doing reckless things to save others at the cost of his own life.
Even the whole “you can’t let anyone know about RBD or you die” thing can be interpreted as a good thing, can you imagine what those around Subaru could/would do if they knew he could sort of “reset” previous occurrences by dying?
I love how near the end they're setting up another meeting with Echidna as Subaru's mind is about to break again. And then Otto stepped up
fyi the perfekt being roswaal wants subaru to be is to only have one priority (left) , being emilia which subaru will help on the throne, which supports his own plan

Among all the witches, Echidna is the only one who hated Satella. So much, that she even hated Emilia just for having resemblance appearance with Envy.

You guys are missing some key dialogue that changes your perspective of the show. Be careful on your conversations. This show is filled with implications. But I guess you can just rewatch the episode after editing so it's not a big deal.
I think you guys are a bit too focused on the "villains". That sort of thing is very arc by arc based in this story. Why? Because Subaru is not a hero. He really does want to be one.

fyi there is a what if story where Subaru agrees to echidnas deal and (in the end dies more than 100 million times (he simply doesn't count his deaths anymore)). Echidna is just endlessly greedy, as it was implied, and it's not a good option for Subaru

I honnestly still don't understand to this day how the anime could skip the "satella and Witch are different person" part ?
Like this is SO important and explains so much about this character that is kinda labeled as the "main vilain" lol
especially since the show adapts SO MUCH from the novel like they don't even do openings and endings to up the runtime yet they don't adapt this part it was so weird !
It's so suspicious that it might've been Tappei's doing, maybe he regretted giving this information too early and just wants to reveal most of Satella things in the last arcs if not the last one.

This detail apparently wasnt included in the light novels. The light novels are somewhat considered the final drafts of Re:Zero, while the web novels are a rough draft. So of course, the anime would adapt the light novels.
