I guarantee that shoes like this died because shoe companies realized that they lasted too long and kids weren’t buying them as frequently. So to compensate for the apparent lack of income, they promoted thinner shoes with “maximum board feel” that only lasted people about a month. Now kids are spending more for shoes and are experiencing increased knee and back pain due to the low level performance features that current skate shoes have today. I’m happy to see shoes like this being revisited, especially since I used to wear the shit out of bulky shoes when I first started skating!
I totally agree man. I don't know how the fuck a guy jumps over a 12 with a pair of Vans Era or the slip ons. Your whole body gets bumped on the impacts. Vulcanized shoes, such a dope marketing success
Totally agreed. Ten years ago I would think in "board feel" and avoid too bulky shoes. But those skinny one´s are ridiculous. After 40 years old I need the maximum comfort and cushion. I´m on a big shoe now.
Facts bro facts cause even Chet Thomas said that's how he wanted to design the ct iv as a skate shoe that dosen't blow out in 1 month too 2 months you know and parents saying I'm not buying you new shoe just too rip em so quickly
All white Koston 1's military surplus cargo's a lofty frontside flip Souls of Mischief "93 'Til Infinity... damn, the late 90's was a great time. Thanks for being there es shoes!
Fuck man....I remember the all white with the gum soles. The navy blues with the orange bottom. The all black with the grey soles. I loved those shoes man.
This is so awesome man this represents the best era in skateboarding on a sidenote these guys should start a podcast talking about old and new skate shoes lol
I would love to listen to skate shoe talk all day. Love it. Need to bring back adio hamiltons and Kenny Andersons. Even if adio footwear is a shell of its former self ill bet they still have the molds and blueprints for them.
EOS next! I'm super confident that model would be popular today. Capturing the nostalgia of the late 90's and early 2000's, while being appropriate for the current skate shoe climate
Man just ordered these! I always wanted them back in 98 or whenever it was they came out. This is such a trip man! So so hyped to see them back! I haven't skated properly since 99 but got back into it recently with some old mates and the skate bug is well and truly back! I absolutely love these older style shoes! modern scene seems like skinny jeans and skinny shoes that look like they're made of cardboard. And I think for many of us older skaters, the return of classics like the scheme are a huge welcome!
It’s crazy that at like a split second glance how quickly you know the shoes you had. K3’s in the Laker colorway. Those navy Creagers man. Those were my first skate shoes after Vans. Then those Koston 1s man. I had every colorway. Those black and grey ones I had a lot after I saw Arto rock them in Menikmati. Let us never forget Accels. Those go without saying that they are some of the best shoes to skate ever.
Idk, the thicker the shoe less the feel. I am not certain that era of shoes is back yet. I mean the hippie jumps and wall rides or slappy curb grinds tricks are all over the skate vids these days. I am sure this era will be back. Mainly after this vid. Great video, you dudes are great on the 9
As a true Millennial growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, és, Osiris, Buffalo and other brands I can’t remember the name of was it back then, before Nike, Adidas and Puma took over. Don’t even mention Converse. Miss these super comfortable and robust shoes. Wore them all year round. Sadly the quality isn’t there no more...we had few skaters at my school so most people wore these for fashion. Same with Vans etc. Personally I only wore Buffalo, 1st the platform, then the skate shoes. Everyone had them regardless of gender.
@@morevidsplz I don't think that's accurate. Don Brown said on The Nine Club that Nike had a patient on the air bag but they didn't renew the patient so then any company could and did start puting airbags in their shoes. If you look into it, there are a few companies that still put airbags in shoes. Globe has a few old school models like the Chet Thomas shoe that still has an airbag. Nike doesn't own the rights to airbags anymore so they can't force other companies not to have them. 'eS was the first skate brand to put airbags in shoes and they started with the Koston 1. That was right at the time when Nike's ownership of the airbag ran out. 'eS likely didn't make the shoe with the airbag because it would cost them more and if you've bought any of their shoes lately you'll notice they only use a handful of soles for all their models. It's because the tooling to make new outsoles costs a fortune. Putting the airbag in them would just be that much more expensive. They also changed the front of the outsole on this one. I think they just wanted to make a little update to the shoe so kids in todays era that are obsessed with board feel might buy them.
Where can I cop? Plus I love how old school skate shoes always took influence from air Jordan's.....anybody remember the Chad muska circa shoe box that was exactly like the air Jordan box
The larger shoes with the big huge puffy tongues, really went with a baggier leg pant because they fit perfectly over the shoe. And you could lace them loose and the tongue would hold your foot in place. With the tighter jeans its not really the same with the huge shoes.
I remember when I was a kid, like 13 years old I think, Everyone were about having good skate shoes. I remember I was with my mom in a store that was selling all these cool ES, Osiris, DC and Globe shoes, and these were the only ES shoes they had left. I didn't really even like the look of the shoe, but it was an ES shoe, so I just had to get my mom to buy them for me. Next day at the school I was so proud and feeling fly asf with my ES shoes. But oh boy were they SHIT to skate with, I just remember the shoe shape looking so round and weird on my board I had problems kickflipping with them, and the sole was SO THICK there was literally no feel for the board, and you somehow felt elevated standing on your board with that shoe. But for some reason I could pop insanely good heelflips with them, which was weird since I sucked on heelflips overall. The good days.
no fair, there's a REAL muska AND creager AND K1, AND K2 right on the wall behind! i've had dozens of each and i would give anything to go back to that time.
Gotta talk about the air bubble. I'm not even mad they removed it and I bought a pair of these and love them, but it's no use trying to ignore or hide that stuff. Just be honest and open about it and it'll work out.
The best part of shoes like this was the protection in the tongue. Made learning 360 flips a lot more pleasant and less painful. Poor kids these days learning that shit in vulcanized loafers...
kelly - yo! chris! haha. can we review some shoes on an experience episode? chris - no. why would we do that? kelly - yo! for sure! haha. we can just use the wobbly desk at the office! haha. thanks, chris!

Vulcanized shoes, such a dope marketing success
@@TheAlfone1 Fuck in my younger years I still went through those chunkers in a month. Cant imagine hiw fast they go through them these days
My accels lasted more than a month until there was holes in the toes , vulcanized shoes feel terrible and don’t even last

I would literally buy every color 2 times over
Fuck man....I remember the all white with the gum soles. The navy blues with the orange bottom. The all black with the grey soles. I loved those shoes man.
Your happy rn 😂
Or have lakai do them again. Or have Nike recreate them. Or whoever he rides for. They will sell.

This is so awesome man this represents the best era in skateboarding on a sidenote these guys should start a podcast talking about old and new skate shoes lol

Ya'll gotta do one of these for every shoe on that back wall, I could watch these all day!
Been wearing eS since 97 and so stoked so see all these styles back. I just wish we had more selection in stock where I am.
This was my era as well. I was ecstatic when es came back; I bought a pair of the Silos and a hat today from the es website today.
More of this series. This is awesome.
Kelly with the best laugh in the game. Love that dude lol
Keep bringing the classics back man I had the OG accels as a youngster, they where my first skate shoe ever and now I got a pair
So nostalgic

when you wore the Accels you felt like you could do anything on your board.

i remember when my neighbor got these and i was so jealous. i didnt have the money to buy them at the time so im hyped they are for sale again

Koston 2! And my personal fav from back in the day the Quattro, my first ever skate shoe. Orange and Grey.
There was an airbag on the original.
Collective239 yea, he says they are a 100% reproduction of the original but they ain’t. No air bubble is a big disappointment.
Nike sued es over the air bubble that’s why it was taken off originally and they always popped
@@morevidsplz I don't think that's accurate. Shame they're insanely expensive now to buy compared to back then :/

This was my second pair of eS shoes i think. This was a classic shoe!!!!
I want the all white koston 1 with the gum! Again! My favorite shoes to skate in since 8th grade in ‘97 ✌️
Not a fan of these shoes but I love their passion for the era hahahaha. Awesome video.
Where can I cop? Plus I love how old school skate shoes always took influence from air Jordan's.....anybody remember the Chad muska circa shoe box that was exactly like the air Jordan box
Hands down my favorite shoe!!
Bring back the K3's in the OG white/red and white/blue colorways and I'm buying 10 pairs!
Been looking for those since 2010!
The larger shoes with the big huge puffy tongues, really went with a baggier leg pant because they fit perfectly over the shoe. And you could lace them loose and the tongue would hold your foot in place. With the tighter jeans its not really the same with the huge shoes.
Bring back the koston 2 or Muska

no fair, there's a REAL muska AND creager AND K1, AND K2 right on the wall behind! i've had dozens of each and i would give anything to go back to that time.
Koston-2 Please bring them back!!!
They were so good to skate in.

Kelly and The Nine Club is the reason why I keep buying eS footwear - and because I want to support the company that supports Tom Asta, he's the best.
Patrick Hanlon Wearing the Asta Accel Mids right now.

I LOVE THIS COMPANY!!!
I still don't get down with moonboots, but shouts to Steezus and Kelly. The La Brea was the right amount of beef for me.
Koston 2's, the black ones in the back please!
To be honest you'd still buy a pair of gum soles back then, probably better of in a pair off suede Eccels, if you wanted grip and board feel.
its my time when es hit the market
please do the phropet model again!!
The best part of shoes like this was the protection in the tongue. Made learning 360 flips a lot more pleasant and less painful. Poor kids these days learning that shit in vulcanized loafers...
éS needs to make more shoes I’d buy them
Looking at shoes at school is how I figured out who skated
kelly - yo! chris! haha. can we review some shoes on an experience episode?
chris - no. why would we do that?
kelly - yo! for sure! haha. we can just use the wobbly desk at the office! haha. thanks, chris!
Now bring back the Muska w/ the pocket tongue! So dope!!!!!!!
i would buy the k3's in a heartbeat
Does anyone know who else skated these other than Rodrigo? I’m tryna see some more OG footage of these
I use to have a pair of és shoes in middle school and I kickfliped off a table “all mob”
So dope es is killing it
Haha when I was in grad 5 I had these in dark blue with black and grey I fucking loved em
Had those yellow ones.
Which ones are those éS behind steezus on his left shoulder at 3:24 ?
And the 3rd one at the top ? (the black ones)
Anyone remember pro flips? You know that trick everyone tried to pass off as hardflip but was more like a vertical pop shuvit
What do I have to do to get those Koston 1s 🙏
Vireo! Vireo! Vireo! Please! My alltime favourite. Or koston 2, follow ups.
I see the Eos in the back...#weneedtheEOS
