Nord Stage 76 "Calibrated" Keybed is BS - SEE DESCRIPTION AND COMMENTS

  • *UPDATE: I confirmed the chip is indeed the "calibration" chip. I also confirmed that these exact same keybeds are used in all kinds of other keyboards from other manufacturers without any issues or complaints of "bad calibration", yet Nord says it's necessary to calibrate them. I guess you could say "good on them" for going the extra mile to make the action perfect.....but you could also say (more validly) this is just a gimmick to make their keyboard appear better and make more $$$ on inflated repair prices. If they really cared about having the best action, they wouldn't use Fatar keybeds to begin with. Roland and Yamaha and some Korg absolutely SMOKE Nord keybeds.
    So for future readers, you DO NOT need to buy a full Nord "calibrated" keybed. I ordered and installed the replacement trigger PCB's and the keyboard plays just like new. I'm quite certain I wouldn't know if it had been "calibrated" or not.
