I've been watching videos all day trying to pick a strategy for cleaning the filthy rusty wheels I just got. I'm using this one hands down the most impressive video I've watched thank you and beautiful truck.

thanx for the wd40 tip, i also use a 800grit scotch bright pad they sell at lowes that gives great results on its own. wasted a lot of money on wheel cleaning products and sometimes you just cant beat old school with a little elbow grease.....

strip clear coat with spray on paint stripper $20 can did 4 OBS ford wheels alcoa aluminum, and wear $17 p95 respirator from Harbor Freight unless you prefer cancer when you're 50
works in about 5 minutes, sometimes a bit longer, up to 40 minutes maybe, keep it wet with stripper or gets gummy, can re-wet and wipe off with paper towels easily.
can use scotch brite pads or orange bags from grocery store to loosen the bits, but really they wipe off, or re-spray and wait 5 m... light scuff with sand paper doesn't hurt, just scuff clear, and the action of the stripper will be faster. takes about 10m to spray, 10m to wait 10m to wipe off... do on 60F day, not 80F, out of direct sunlight so keeps wet

Beautiful truck. I didn’t know scotch bribe and wd40 could clean up so much. My main question is when do you sand and use diff grits of SP verse the scotch brite? Does how heavy the wheels are soiled determine that?

Nice job, I have almost same wheels, but Alcoa 16 inch on my E350 Super Duty.......the front wheels pit real bad from the metallic brake dust if I let it stay on the wheel even for one week.......Hard to find non metallic pads that will provide the non fading stopping power......I may try some carbon fiber?......Gonna have to deep polish the 2 fronts, rears not bad at all..........

Beautiful job on the wheels man. Great looking truck. Question, my 97 f250 has the factory wheels. In great shape but I want to polish but it looks as if the aluminum has a clear coat? Does that sound correct ya think? And if so, will the scotch bright screw the finish up? Just wasn't sure. Thanks for any advice

Factory wheels do have clear. If yours is faded like mine. I had to strip them. Then polish like he did. This makes it so you can just polish when you wash your truck. Or you can re clear so you don’t have to keep polishing. Mine had places where the clear cracked so I pretty much had no choice to strip the clear off. Hope this helps. There also videos on how to strip the clear off

Is the fender trim factory or from like LMC or some other aftermarket?

    • @TaylorSmithAutomotiveChannel

I picked up the fender lip trim on eBay. Cost around $85 shipped. I believe LMC carries them as well, but eBay was cheaper. They are good quality too.

Its not this hard, just get some of that orange hand cleaner and put it on a rag and rub it on and preassure wash it off, then polish it, also DO NOT go to O'Reilly's
