      I'm also going to Teton, Yellowstone, & Glacier this Aug. And if I have time I'd also like to visit Mount Rushmore. I've been to Yellowstone 4 times & been to the other parks a couple times. So beautiful. I've also been up in Canada to some of their national parks & their parks are even larger than Yellowstone. What I loved about Canada is there's plenty of room to pull off the side of the road the entire length of the park. So I was able to pull off once & watch a bear slowly walk right across the road in front of me.

    Hello. Me and my friends stayed in West Yellowstone last year. We visited most places in the video and it was great. Yellowstone Park is fantastic and someday, I will be back there. I just have to.

    Another great Yellowstone video! West Yellowstone is the only entrance/section of the park I didn't get to, but I definitely plan to get there on one of my return trips, and you guys gave me a couple of places to add to my list when I do! (That Mesa Falls is incredible! 😍😍)

    One year I saw Old Faithful & another geyser close to it going off at the exact same time. So awesome. Other times I've also seen 2 or more geysers going off at the same time. I find it so fascinating that the prediction times can be off by hours or even days, yet they do sometimes go off together like that. Also amazes me that every single time a geyser goes off it goes off differently. Like one of my favorite the Grand Geyser I saw it go off & just when it looked like it was about over it started up again for another several minutes. Then a few hours later I got to watch it again & was expecting it to give an encore like it did the first time, but sadly it didn't the 2nd time LOL.
    The tallest is Steam boat & it rarely goes off. But one year it went off several times within a couples weeks. Sadly I wasn't there in person to see it, but at least I did get to see the youtube video of it going off.

      Steamboat has calmed down unfortunately. I never got to see it either

    This also applies to humans.

    I stayed in a KOA campground in West Yellowstone the past two years. It was a nice place to stay. Honestly, I would rather have stayed in the park at Fishing Bridge but it has been closed. I would still visit the town but the daily drive of 14 miles into the park gets a little old. The traffic out of the park back into West Yellowstone is also pretty bad.

    • @mikepostell8720
      @mikepostell8720 3 роки тому +1

      Why limit yourself to full hookups? We spent 7 nights between bridge bay and Madison campgrounds this year and it was one of the best experiences in our lives.

    • @mikejordan9220
      @mikejordan9220 3 роки тому +2

      @@mikepostell8720 I agree but I think my RV is a little too large for the other campgrounds. I would like to stay in either of those but my wife isn’t a tent camper. I live in Ohio but have been to Yellowstone 6 times even though it is a really long drive. I stayed two times in West Yellowstone, one time in Jackson, and three times at Fishing Bridge. Every trip was great.

      We’ve stayed in West Yellowstone 2 out of the 3 visits to the park. I think it worked out great and the daily drive back into the town was always full of elk and bison. Fascinating! Of course it would be so nice to try different areas. Trying to talk my husband into going back!

      I do appreciate that you showed all of the things West Yellowstone has to offer that I didn’t know about. I’m sure I will visit there again someday. I really would like to see the bears.

      I always try to stay in the park until it gets dark & start heading into West Yellowstone at sundown. The traffic is pretty bad going out, but I'm fine with that because it's to dark to see anything any ways. I always try to make it back before restaurants close to have at least one good meal per day & just eat sandwiches inside the park or get a snack at one of the restaurants or stores inside the park,

    Hi Matt.....I really enjoy your videos and find them very helpful. I'm coming out there for a medical conference in July and staying in the Big Sky resort. Im planning to go to Yellowstone to hike, but havent seen on the videos information on how to access the trail heads. Is there parking where the trail heads are and if not, where to you park to access the trails for hiking. Any info you can give would help. Thanks!!!!

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  Рік тому

      Yes, there is parking at all the trailheads and geyser basins!

      Not all the roads are open in April -- they still have snow, and snow storms are still common. See our article about this: wereintherockies.com/best-time-to-visit-yellowstone/

    We stayed last summer at west Yellowstone and was surprised at how unfriendly some locals were. Not sure if it’s a tourist thing but people were just rude at times.

    • @WereintheRockies

      I'm sad you experienced that. If you make it there again, hopefully you will have a better experience.

      One bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Years of tourists being entitled will cause locals to be cynical. Nobody has respect anymore for rules or fellow people. Just look at Tourons of Yellowstone. Any questions why tourists are detracted at times?😅

    We only have 4 or 5 days to do Yellowstone and Teton. Which should we spend more time in? We are driving up from salt lake.

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  3 роки тому

      I'd say try to do 3 in Yellowstone and drop down into Teton for two days and then travel home through Soda Springs and Lava Hot Springs. Stop at the geyser in Soda Springs as well as Hooper Springs park and try some natural soda water.

    10:50 do they give them sedatives like in 3rd world countries or are they just tired? (personally I think they sneak a few sleepy pills in to their water bowl)
