    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 роки тому +4

      @Linda Johnson, Most welcome and thank you so much for your feedback, appreciate it :-) Mustard cake - Mustard cake is the residue left over from commercial mustard oil or meal production. It is widely used as a fertilizer for flowering and vegetable plants. Basically it is very rich in protein and contains many micro nutrients.
      Where to buy them - They are readily available in our place (Amazon.in) and I don't think you would get there. So, instead of this you can use either Fish Emulsion fertilizer or blood meal. These are available in my place too, but Mustard cake is really very cheap.
      I hope, I answered to your questions. If you have any, please let me know. Thank you once again and Marry Christmas :-)

Do you have any videos on growing other annual plants like petunias from seed to creating a beautiful flower pot and how to take care of them? Like when do you cut them so the bush out? I always get these very long single stem plants. Do I place a lot of these together in the pot or is there a way of cutting the seedlings to bush them out? Do I do a couple of seeds per planting cell like veggies and then transplant? Or do I direct seed a planter and go from there? I look forward to hearing your answers to these questions now.

      Maybe the soil you planted your marigolds in didn't have much nutrients that the plant needed or the variety is different, because there are also some Asian marigolds that have smaller flowers (colored orange and yellow) and French Marigolds that are also small, but has red and more colors.

    • @GardeningUpbeat

      I can totally understand..instead of that, any fertilizers with high Nitrogen volume can be used. If you do composting at home, that can be used as well..but, N% in compost is lesser than Mustard cake powder. I often use Mustard cake powder as it really boosts the growth of any plants and result can be seen in 7-10 days. Wish you all the best!

      @GardeningUpbeat  Рік тому +1

      You are most welcome! Sure, NPK is fine too..if you are going to use 100% water soluble, dose would be 1/2 teaspoon in 1 liter water. If they are crystal, then 4-5 crystals for a 8-10 inch pot. Frequency for both - 20 to 25 days. Thank you and hope that helps!

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Рік тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply..UA-cam doesn't send any notification for nested comment. Actually it depends on the size of the pot and for one 8 inch pot, around 500ml is fine. We can apply whole 1 liter too..but rest would get wasted as it would come out through the drainage holes. For one 10-12 inch pot, 1 liter is almost enough and for 6 inch pot, around 300ml is fine. Hope that helps, thank you!

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Рік тому +1

      If you have only these two options, NPK 30:10:10+TE would be better as it contains all other Micro-nutrients too. But, % of N is bit high..it would have been nice if it was something like this - NPK 20:15:15+TE. Nevertheless, no worry and you can start applying the fertilizer. Please always start with low dose than recommended. Observe the growth in next 7-10 days and depending on that, use full dose. Whenever we apply any Chemical fertilizers, it's always a good idea to start with low dose as they work quite fast. And, if we do little bit mistakes, plants may suffer very badly. Not trying to scare you....just sharing my thought as it happens with me in past. Chemical fertilizer is fine and I also use quite often :-) Wish you all the best :-)

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 роки тому +1

      @Arshiya Sharma, It's a common problem which is seen on Marigold. Problem is, if we don't provide enough nutrients at early stage, they bloom heavily only once and then stop their growth. At that stage, they also get lots of pest attack. Bit difficult to revive such plants, sorry to say. This happens with 99% plants that we buy from Nursery at blooming stage. So, if possible, please try to grow once from seedling stage providing rich soil. They would grow well and would be thriving. But still, if you want to revive your other plants, you can fertilize it once (Plz don't use full dose as plants are weak at this stage). Provide plenty of sunlight and apply pesticide on regular basis. Hope they revive soon...Good luck :-)
